Hanna's Candles (CandleMart) Lemonade Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Hanna's Candles (CandleMart) Lemonade Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Hanna's Candles (CandleMart) Lemonade Scented Wax Melts

Watch video below:

Berry Berry Lemonade

Notes: Juicy blackberries and sweet cranberries, dusted with confectioners sugar

My Review:
This is a standard slightly bakery fruity scent. It's similar to Wild Berry and Wild Berry Cobbler, but not as rich or sweet. It's a very nice scent, but a bit generic. I've smelled this scent many times in the past, so it's a dupe of something else. And there's no lemon note in it. If you like berry scents, Wild Berry and Wild Berry Cobbler (which are the same scent) smell better. Looking at the scent notes, they're the same as Wild Berry and Wild Berry Cobbler, but this is a mistake, as the scents are indeed different.

Throw: Very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5

Cherry Lime Lemonade

Notes: Luscious red cherry and a sweet vanilla base

My Review:
This is my favorite of the Lemonade collection. It's super strong on cold sniff, and smells like cherry soda. Although I don't smell lemon, there may be a smidgeon of lime since there's a bit of tartness to the cherry. A fun, summery scent! Looking at the scent notes, well there's no lemon in it! In fact, they're the same notes as their Jolly Rancher Cherry scent, so it might be the same scent.

Comparing this to Better Home & Gardens Chilled Cherry Limeade which came out earlier this year (and which I reviewed at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/03/better-homes-gardens-scented-wax-melts-spring-2017-walmart.html), Chilled Cherry Limeade definitely has a lemon note and is more tart/sour, is richer and more "full bodied", and smells like hard candy or a lemon/cherry flavored cough drop. Hanna's Cherry Lime Lemonade smells more like cherry soda, with more of a fake, slightly soapy note. They're both great scents, and are totally different from each other.

Throw: Very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5

Lime Lemonade

Notes: An enjoyable quality of citrus zest with a punch of effervescent spirits.

My Review:
I smell orange more than lime, but there might be a lime note in there. It smells like orange lime soda but without fizziness. Refreshing! Looking at the scent notes, they're the same as their Sparkling Citrus Zest scent, which smells like orange soda. I just smelled both of them side by side, and they do smell the same. But the Lime Lemonade smells a little richer and creamier. Although the Sparkling Citrus Zest scent I have is a few years old.

Throw: Very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5, but scent only lasted about an hour.

Old Fashioned Lemonade

Notes: Sweet lemons with a splash of vanilla cream

My Review:
You know how companies keep using the same lemon scents over and over, just with different names? This one is totally new! It's a very sweet lemon, not overly tart, with a little bit of a vanilla note and a smidgeon of kitchen lemon. It's not exactly a lemonade scent as it's not tart enough. It's not really a bakery scent either as it's not a rich cake-y scent, maybe a lemon candy scent? I'd say it's more of a bakery lemon than a lemonade or candy lemon because of that slight vanilla note. However you'd classify it, it's fantastic. And a nice, new, different type of lemon scent!

Throw: Fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5

Peach Lemonade

Notes: Mandarin, apricot, mango, guava, dewberry, ginger and coconut

My Review:
This is a nice, authentic peach scent like the fuzzy outside of the peach. It's not very sweet, and it may be just slightly creamy like peaches and cream. It doesn't smell like a fake peach scented room spray, and it's also not a sour peach scent like Juicy Apricot Jam or White Peach Nectar. It's very nice and summery. But there's no lemon note.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Watermelon Lemonade

Notes: Juicy watermelon, zests of lemon, orange, and fresh floral undertones, on a sweet candy-like accord of sugar cane and malt notes

My Review:
I believe this is the same scent as their Watermelon Sorbet scent (a mouth-watering sweet candy-like watermelon with maybe a slight strawberry note). I only smell watermelon, no lemon, but that's okay because it smells fantastic and very summery! Looking at the scent notes, they're different from the Watermelon Sorbet, although this smells the same. The notes are the same as their Jolly Rancher Watermelon scent.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, and it took over the whole house!

Candle-Licious Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Candle-Licious Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Watch video below:

I purchased Candle-Licious "One Zee Cubes" which is a smaller amount of wax than their regular clamshells. The website says each one weighs 0.09 pound, which equals 1.44 oz. (a regular clamshell is 2.5 oz.), and each one costs $.89 which sounds like an incredible deal! I bought $15.76 worth of One Zee Cubes (not including shipping). When I got my order I saw that the One Zee Cubes were actually just ONE standard sized cube of wax each! One cube is 0.4 or 0.5 oz, which equals .03 pounds, one third of their advertised weight of 0.09 pound! This was disappointing, as $.89 is actually not a good deal for one wax cube, since it's equivalent to $5.34 for a standard clamshell. I contacted Candle-Licious and was told that I was "confusing shipping weight with product weight, we do not state the product weight". Huh? So I weighed one cube inside its tiny plastic package, and it was 0.7 oz. (0.04 pound), still less than half of what's advertised on the website. Since I only received one third of what I paid for, I requested two thirds of my purchase price back ($10.50). They refused and said I could send my order back instead. No, I wanted to keep my order, plus shipping with a return receipt would be over $8, plus with the heat wave they'd be liquefied by the time they got there. I also requested that they change the website to reflect the correct weight of the One Zee Cubes. I never heard back. As of the date of this review, the One Zee Cube web pages are still showing 0.09 pound, although at the bottom it does say "One cube, about 1/2 oz." and I'm not sure if that was there before. So why not change the weight at the top of the page where it's seen first?

I will say that the One Zee Cubes are a very clever idea. They're a great way to test scents to see if you'll like them before committing to purchasing a larger quantity. I don't know of any other wax company that does this. Wax vendors do provide 1oz. "scent shots", but I don't think I've seen any that sell one half ounce cubes. So I do give Candle-Licious major points for ingenuity in that respect. Although those tiny little plastic packages are extremely difficult to open, and the writing on the labels is so tiny I needed thick glasses to read them.

However, customer service and integrity are extremely important to me and, based on my experience, I felt that this company was lacking in both, so I will not order from them again. But product quality is a separate issue, so no matter how unhappy I might be in dealing with a company, I'll always be honest about the quality of their wax. And in general, their wax was fairly good.

9/27/17 UPDATE: I see that the 0.09 pound weight has been removed from the One Zee Cubes pages. I'm so glad this seller decided to do the right thing! The web page for her wax melts is http://www.candle-licious.com/c/wax-melts-wax-tarts-cubes.html. Finding the One Zee Cubes is difficult though, since they're not shown in the index. You either have to type one zee cubes in the search bar on the website (no quote marks, and no dash between the one and zee), OR you can find them for each scent when you choose "shop by scent" from the index (http://www.candle-licious.com/c/s-shop-by-scent.html). The One Zee Cubes are not available for every scent.

Aloe and Clover

Scent Description:
Clean, fresh fragrance with the soothing quality of aloe. Reminiscent of Bath and Body Works Green Clover And Aloe

Scent Notes:
Zesty lemon, fresh floral, muguet, crisp apple. Mid notes of prune, juniper berry, sage and aloe, rose, lavender and gardenia. Amber musk completes the fragrance.

My Review:
This is a zesty scent with a hint of lemon and herbs. It's not a green herbal or spa type scent at all, which I would have expected from a scent called Aloe and Clover. It's a savory scent, not sweet at all (clover should be a little sweet). And I don't smell the aloe, which should have a watery cucumber scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell the florals at all, or maybe they're way in the background. After melting for about a half hour, the scent faded and I could barely smell it even with my nose a few inches away.

Throw: Poor, 1 out of 5

Balsam Cedar

Scent Description:
Woodsy blend of pine, eucalyptus, and cedar, finished with sweet balsam

Scent Notes:
Orange, raspberry, and plum. Middle notes of lily, carnation, and hyacinth. Base notes of balsam, pine, eucalyptus, and cedar.

My Review:
A nice smoky spruce scent. This is not a biting pine scent. It's a standard Christmas tree scent though, and I don't smell any of the fruit or floral notes. I do detect a bit of the eucalyptus note.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Beehive Honey (Honey Bee)

Scent Notes:
Sweet honey balanced by hints of wildflower nectar

My Review:
On cold sniff this is a slightly sour, bitter honey scent. It's not very sweet, and smells kind of burnt. Melted, it smells a little like some of the tobacco and honey scents I've smelled. It smells better melted than on cold sniff, but I'm still not a fan.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Black Pepper

Scent Description:
A sultry blend of soothing amber warming the senses with just the right jolt of black peppercorn to awaken your curiosity.

Scent Notes:
Orange flower, cinnamon bark, clove, nutmeg, white jasmine, pine, amber crystals, cinnamon spice, vanilla absolute, oak wood, musk

My Review:
This is a nice, light cinnamon scent with a sweet vanilla background and maybe even a smidgeon of a perfume note. It's not a harsh "Big Red" type cinnamon, but it's also not a bakery "cinnamon bun" type cinnamon. It's a nice scent, even if you don't like cinnamon, and it actually has a Christmasy feel. But it's absolutely not black pepper.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Chilled Sangria

Scent Description:
Inspired by the traditional red-wine Sangria, our fruity Sangria is loaded with fresh fragrances.

Scent Notes:
Red & black cherry a hint of orange, lemon, white grape, crisp apples.

My Review:
This does smell like sangria. I smell bright, rich cherry and orange with just a smidgeon of a fizzy soda note. It's a fantastic summery scent!

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Crackling Fire

Scent Description:
This interesting and complex fragrance will take you back to a cozy fire on a fall day. A favorite of any earthy aroma lover.

Scent Notes:
Herbaceous pine, balsam, and citrus bergamot with middle notes of white flowers and earthy sandalwood, and base notes of woodsy patchouli and violet

My Review:
This is a rather nice smoky scent, but it's not a true "fireplace" or smoky wood type scent, more like a fake sour smoky scent that almost has a burnt toast note. It sounds bad, but it actually smells pretty good, although it's not my favorite scent.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Dragon's Blood

Scent Notes:
Amber, cedar wood and a hint of patchouli combines sweet and spicy notes

My Review:
Fantastic nag champa/patchouli type incense scent. The Dragon's Blood scent tends to be a little sweeter and more "incensey" than Nag Champa. Nag Champa tends to be a little more soapy with slightly more patchouli. Both scents smell very similar though, and this scent is no exception. Fantastic scent, and it lasted the entire day!

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Drakkar

Scent Description:
Reminiscent of Drakkar Noir, a men's fragrance by Guy Laroche, this masculine scent possesses a blend of lavender, citrus, spicy berries and sandalwood.

Scent Notes:
Sharp, spicy, lavender, and amber fragrance

My Review:
This smells nothing like Drakkar men's cologne, although it is a nice fresh cologne or men's body wash type scent. It has that slightly sour, bitter chemical note that I've been smelling in a lot of these scents. I thought it was just the plastic from the packaging, but I smelled it when I sniffed this scent from close-up while it was melting. But I don't smell the sour, bitter note in the room. However, I couldn't really smell this scent in the room anyway because it didn't throw well.

Throw: Poor, 2 or 2.5 out of 5

English Garden

Scent Description:
Refreshing with hints of fresh floral, all perfectly blended to fill your room with the pleasant smelling aromas of an English garden.

Scent Notes:
Sweet William, Delphinium, Fox gloves, Geraniums, Forget-Me Not, Lavender Hollyhocks, and Violas

My Review:
On cold sniff, this smells like honeysuckle perfume with a very slightly bitter green note. Melted, it smells like authentic honeysuckle or, well, an actual flower garden. It's a lovely scent! But unfortunately the scent started fading within an hour, and in two hours it was almost gone.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

High Tide

Scent Description:
Remember walking along the shore on the oceanfront? The salty sea air and pounding waves are wrapped up to create a true ocean mist “sensation.”

My Review:
A pleasant fresh salty soapy watery scent. It's not very sweet, and actually has a bitter note that makes it smell like an expensive cleaner or shower gel. I like this one; it's different. The scent notes shown for this scent are wrong, and are the same scent notes used for a different scent.

Throw: Good, 3 or possibly 3.5 out of 5

Hinoki Wood

Scent Description:
Both enticing and magical, Hinoki is an unusual and clean fragrance.

Scent Notes:
Warm essences of blonde wood, cedar and patchouli with vanilla musk, cinnamon & clove, uplifted with notes of eucalyptus, lavender, orange blossom, jasmine and rose

My Review:
I can barely detect anything on cold sniff, maybe a slightly perfumey but bitter "green" scent with a hint of fresh mint? When melted, I don't smell anything, even up close.

Throw: Poor, 0 out of 5

Japanese Cherry Blossom

Scent Notes:
Japanese cherry blossoms, butterfly lily, Kyoto rose, mimosa petals, vanilla rice, imperial amber, silk musk, cedar, sandalwood, Asian pear, and Fuji apple

My Review:
On cold sniff, yep this is cherry blossom, that pleasant perfumey floral with a slight baby powder note. It kind of smells like scented toilet paper, but in a good way. Melted, it doesn't smell as much like cherry blossom, but more like a classy, sophisticated perfume. Very nice scent!

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Mayan Musk

Scent Description:
A warm blend of woods and musk create this sensual fragrance.

Scent Notes:
Musk with sweetened hints of vanilla, and rose balanced with patchouli, cedar wood, and sandalwood for warmth

My Review:
Lovely sweet musky scent with an incense note like nag champa, but much sweeter. It might also have a hint of vanilla (and there it is in the scent notes). This is a very sweet incense scent, not a perfumey scent. When melted, I get the incense notes more than the musk.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Merlot

Scent Description:
A robust bouquet of select spiced cranberries. Very fragrant with the perfect amount of mouth-watering tartness.

Scent Notes:
Cranberries, orange zests with hints of ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon

My Review:
This is a standard fall spiced cranberry scent with a little cinnamon. It's an okay scent, but not at all what I would expect from a scent called "Merlot", which should be more of a grapey type scent. Looking at the scent notes, I see that this is indeed supposed to be a cinnamon cranberry scent.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Moroccan Spice

Scent Description:
The exotic spiciness of this scent is very delicate, soft, feminine, seductive and attractive. Earthy scent lovers this is for you.

Scent Notes:
Spice medley of coriander, cinnamon, clove, ginger, with middle notes of geranium, balsam and amber, base notes of patchouli and musk.

My Review:
On cold sniff this smells like incense with a bit of a nag champa note, but there's also a bit of soapiness to it and maybe some other spices that I can't identify. It's very nice. But when melted, it just smells like old soap, not too sweet and a little bitter. Strangely though, I kind of like it.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Odor Eliminator

Scent Description:
Cool and refreshing! A fresh, clean aroma like the smell of the great outdoors brought inside.

Scent Notes:
Carnations, lily of the valley, and hyacinth, underlined by oakmoss and white musk.

My Review:
On cold sniff I don't smell much of anything, but when melted it's a very bland scent that I can't even describe. Maybe cucumbers and fresh air? I'm not sure if I like it or not. Looking at the scent notes, I expected a sweet floral, but this scent is not sweet at all. However, the scent notes might be wrong; they're the exact same scent notes for High Tide (although I don't think they're correct for High Tide either, since that's not a floral scent either).

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Plum and Berries

Scent Description:
A sweet, candy-like fragrance of sugared plums with a tart overtone of wild berries.

My Review:
This is not a fruity scent. In fact, it's not really sweet; it's very bitter. But yet it has a rich creamy note, but also a slight waxy note. It's an odd scent that I thought I would hate based on cold sniff, but it's actually pretty nice. It's almost like this should be the Merlot scent, since it has that a bit of that "winey" vibe. Looking at the scent notes, no there's no sweetness, but yes, it's definitely tart.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Red Ginger

Scent Notes:
Top notes of floral apple, sweet grape, orange, muguet and jasmine. Middle notes of gardenia, carnation, rose, clove leaf, ginger, lilac and orange flower. Base of violet, powder and musk.

My Review:
A lovely sweet perfumey gardenia scent. When melted, I detect a smidgeon of something else, like an incense or oriental spice note, very faint. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell fruit at all, although it could be way in the background.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Strawberry Daiquiri

Scent Description:
True strawberry, not too sweet, just perfect and very strong.

My Review:
Ooh this is a yummy rich strawberry scent, like strawberry jam or strawberry ice cream. It smells a little like Scentsy Strawberry Swirl, but not as sweet, and it doesn't have that creamy note. It doesn't smell like daiquiri though, but that's okay. It's a fantastic scent!

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Twilight in the Woods

Scent Description:
Gentle masculine fragrance with wisps of jungle moss, patchouli, and white musk.

Scent Notes:
Top notes of Mandarin balm, tangelo & eucalyptus, with middle notes of jungle moss & patchouli, and a base of red wood, amber and musk

My Review:
This is a sweet, warm, kind of perfumey cashmere type scent, a little bit like Better Homes and Gardens Sugared Lavender Twist, or an ambered lavender (although it's not a lavender scent), with that slight "pink sugar" note. I don't smell orange (mandarin & tangelo) at all, or eucalyptus.

Throw: Fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5, would be best for a smaller room.

XO Cigar Reserve

Scent Description:
The smell of money, status and masculinity are wrapped into this blend of aromatic bergamot with fresh lemon zest spritzing a heart of velvety cognac essences and rich, spiced tobacco leaves. A true Cognac & Cuban blend of aromas.

Scent Notes:
Bergamot, Lemon, Orange; Mid notes of Cognac, Nutmeg, Crushed Tobacco Leaves; Base of White Woods

My Review:
Thankfully this doesn't smell like cigars! It does smell a bit like tobacco and maybe a hint of cigarette ashes, which sounds bad, but because it's a little sweet it's actually a pretty nice scent. I don't smell lemon or orange at all.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Hanna's Candles Benditaroma Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Hanna's Candles Benditaroma Scented Wax Melts Reviews - June 2017

Hanna's Candles Benditaroma Scented Wax Melts

Watch video below:

The Hanna's Candles Benditaroma "Blessed Fragrance" Collection is a spiritually inspired line of candles and scented wax melts that comes in 10 different scents. They have a spiritual message on the label, although they are not specifically religious or cater to any particular religious belief or denomination.

ABUNDANCE

Notes: Misty fresh ozone, sweet red and tart green apples with subtle woods

My Review:
A nice fresh crisp apple scent. It's not too sweet, which makes it smell very authentic. But it's not tart or sour either. I don't smell any woodsy notes, and it does have a nice "clean" note which is probably the ozone, but not enough to make this scent smell fake. It smells like a real apple!

Throw: Quite good, 3 or possibly 3.5 out of 5

HEALTH

Notes: Vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar

My Review:
This is a sweet rich vanilla buttercream scent with a little bit of a caramel note. I don't know if it's the same scent as their TimberWick Vanilla Brulee or not (slightly different notes). Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell cinnamon or nutmeg at all. Although cinnamon, hmmm, it could be there way in the back and barely noticeable.

Throw: 1 out of 3, if that. I smelled it very slightly about 20 minutes after I put it in the warmer, then didn't smell it again at all, even from a foot away.

LOVE

Notes: Narcissus, sandalwood, and musk

My Review:
This is my favorite scent of the Benditaroma collection, because it's so unique and different from anything else I've ever smelled. It smells like church. That may sound weird, but when you smell it you'll understand. It has that waxy generic slightly perfumey scent that you smell when you walk into a church. My description makes it sound bad, but it's all good, very good! There may also be a little bit of a baby powder note. Looking at the scent notes, I'm not sure what narcissus smells like (a daffodil type flower that is described of having a tuberose/honeysuckle type scent with hay and green notes). I think I do smell the sandalwood, and a little bit of the rich perfumey note of the musk.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

LUMINOSITY

Notes: Sweet, creamy coconut milk, pineapple, cilantro, kumquat, and Tahitian vanilla

My Review:
I thought I smelled coconut with a lemon note and then I realized this is the same scent as Coconut Milk Mango, which I reviewed at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/05/hannas-candles-scented-wax-melts-review-spring-2017.html. What a fantastic scent!

Throw: This is a scent monster that took over the whole house, 5 out of 5 throw!

PROSPERITY

Notes: Sandalwood, patchouli, and vetiver bourbon

My Review:
A raw cedar wood type scent but not as sweet, and might have a smidgeon of a smoky note. It smells like pencil shavings. This is different from their Cedar Box scent or any of their other woodsy scents. I really like this one. It's very natural, and I think it would be great to melt on a chilly night. Actually, this is the same scent as Ember Glow, even though the Ember Glow scent notes are different (spiced wood, juniper, cinnamon, patchouli and vanilla). I reviewed Ember Glow at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2016/12/hannas-candles-scented-wax-melts-review.html

Throw: Very Good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

PROTECTION

Notes: Sweet blossoming plumeria blended with white freesia, lily of the valley, violet and musk

My Review:
This smells like a nice clean, sweet, powdery, relaxing floral soap or woman's body wash.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

ROMANCE

Notes: Mandarin, juicy blackberry, pink freesia, star jasmine, vanilla orchid, strawberry, and musk

My Review:
This is very light on cold sniff. It's a pleasant soft slightly sweet slightly soapy bedroom type scent, like cherry blossom, but different from their Wild Cherry Blossom scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell orange (mandarin) at all, and if there are blackberry and strawberry notes, they're very light and barely noticeable.

Melted, this reminds me of a discontinued Crabtree & Evelyn scent called "Tom Kitten" that was supposed to be used in a baby's room. It had a delicate, slightly sweet, calming milk note with a smidgeon of soapy floral. Up close, the scents are different, but melting in the room, they're quite similar. I really like this one.

Throw: Very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5 (which was surprising since I can barely smell anything on cold sniff)

SPIRITUALITY

Notes: Lavender, thyme, sage, musk and woods

My Review:
This is the same scent as their Timberwick Lavender Sachet, which I reviewed at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/02/hannas-candles-candlemart-scented-wax-melts.html. It's a perfect lavender scent!

Throw: Excellent, around a 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

STRENGTH

Notes: Bergamot, floral, spice, ylang ylang, musk, vanilla, and woody

My Review:
I smell a combination of nag champa incense, orange blossom/neroli, baby powder, oriental spices, and apricot. Looking at the scent notes, bergamot is a deep, boozy, tart, soapy, tea-like citrusy scent that supposedly smells a lot like Earl Grey tea. So that, combined with the floral, musk and spice, may be where I'm getting the orange blossom and apricot notes. It's very similar to the Sparkling Orange Blossom scent (orange color) of the Wild Honeysuckle Trio, but with slightly different notes. A fantastic soft sweet powdery scent!

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

TRANQUILITY

Notes: Ozone, orange, violet, lemon, muguet, jasmine, rose, cedarwood, musk and amber

My Review:
I have no idea how to describe this scent. It's nice, a little sweet, maybe a little bit woodsy and men's cologne, but there's a smidgeon of a sour note in there, although not nearly enough to ruin the scent. Looking at the scent notes, well that's just mish-mash of all kinds of scents! There's the cedarwood, and I think I smell the violet. I don't smell orange or lemon at all. Maybe the amber for warmth, and maybe a little bit of rose.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Tuscany Candle Scented Wax Melts Reviews - June 2017

Tuscany Candle Scented Wax Melts Reviews - June 2017

Tuscany Candle Scented Wax Melts Reviews - June 2017

Watch video below:

This is a review of 4 Tuscany Candle Scented Wax Melts that I bought at Wegman's food store a few weeks ago. I believe these are older scents, but I've never tried them before. In general, I like the Tuscany Candle scents, but the throw tends to not be very good. As is the case with 3 of these scents. Finding Tuscany Candle wax melts it hit or miss, since there doesn't seem to be any particular store that carries them all the time. They seem to show up at of the blue a few times a year at random stores, and they don't even have a website so consumers have no way of knowing what scents are available.

Citrus Blush
This smells exactly like an orange creamsicle, that super sweet almost marshmallowy orange buttercream scent. Such a fantastic scent! Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5, but started fading within an hour and was pretty much gone in two hours.

Mandarin Currant
Mandarin is basically a type of orange, and currant is a slightly tart fig-like scent that gives a "classy" note to fragrances, a little like cranberry but sweeter and not as tart. The orange is the strongest note in this scent, but I do smell the tartness of the currant in the background, and it does have a very slight cranberry note but not as sweet and it's definitely not a fall scent. It smells a lot like ScentSationals Molten Orange, that intense but slightly tart orange scent. It's extremely strong on cold sniff. Throw was excellent, 5 out of 5, and it was a scent monster that took over the entire house! The scent started fading within 2 or 3 hours, but that's okay with me as I generally start getting bored of a scent after 2 or 3 hours.

Sage & Citrus
A nice clean slightly sweet herbal scent. It doesn't smell like sage (which is savory) OR citrus. Throw was poor, 1 out of 5, and I could barely smell it from a foot away.

Rain
A nice sweet watery scent that has a little bit of a foodie quality and might have a smidgeon of vanilla in the background. It smells a little like Mainstays Peaceful Waters, but it's not the same scent. Throw was very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5, but started dissipating within 2 or 3 hours.

This is my third Scentsy review. You can see my other two Scentsy reviews HERE and HERE. I don't know if these scents are current, or older and discontinued.

Banana Berry
"Slightly tart and definitely juicy red strawberries jumbled with yellow bananas and luscious bavarian cream."

I didn't include this in my video review since I didn't have it at the time. On cold sniff I smell bananas and berries mixed together (strawberry I think), but mostly the banana. It's a fake banana scent, not authentic, which is okay because it smells great, like sweet banana berry candy. There might also be vanilla in this one as it has a creamy, rich note. Looking at the scent notes, there's the cream.

Throw: None, 0 out of 5, even close up with my nose practically in the wax. The heat sapped all the fragrance pretty much immediately. Maybe I got an old one.

Blue Christmas
"Fresh fir needles in aromatic orange essence, with cloves and cinnamon."

A subtle blue spruce scent, not a biting pine scent. I detect a barely noticeable smidgeon of cinnamon in the background. I don't smell any orange although there may be a smidgeon of a pomander note. This scent has kind of a salty note that makes it smell a little like Play-Doh, or a sage-y note that smells a little like sausage spice. I'm not crazy about it.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Cambridge
"Sweet lemon and pine needles mixed with an intriguing dash of vetiver."

I smell vanilla and baby powder and oriental perfume spices and a little bit of men's cologne. It's a very nice, classy scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell any pine in this at all, not a smidgeon. If I try really hard maybe I might detect lemon but if I didn't know it was in the scent notes I wouldn't. Vetiver is a common note in men's cologne, so that makes sense.

Throw: Not good, around a 2 or 2.5 out of 5, so would be better in smaller room.

Casting Spells
"A bewitching blend of apple drizzle, roasted pears and cinnamon bark."

This is a caramely pear scent with another note I can't figure out, almost like a woodsy clove note in the background. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell cinnamon at all. This is very similar to an older Scentsy scent, "Caramel Pear Crisp" (which I reviewed before), but not exactly the same. It's very rich but almost has a slightly burnt quality.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Cherry Vanilla
"Candied cherry and sugared almonds folded into velvety white chocolate ice cream."

I didn't include this in my video review since I didn't have it at the time. Fantastic scent! It smells like maraschino cherry scented men's cologne, with vanilla for richness and maybe amber because it's a warm scent. It's not actually a men's cologne scent, but it has that sweet alcohol note from men's cologne, so maybe more like a perfume scent. It's not a foodie scent at all. Looking at the scent notes, the richness is probably from the white chocolate, although I don't detect chocolate notes in this at all. I also don't smell almond. After a few hours, it seemed like the alcohol note got stronger and it started smelling a bit like rubbing alcohol and got annoying.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Clean Breeze
"White florals with a touch of spring; this is the scent of fresh, clean laundry."

A sweet floral fabric softener or dryer sheet type scent. It's not a harsh laundry detergent scent. Very nice and fresh!

Throw: Excellent, at least a 4 out of 5

Enchanted Mist
"Rose petals, sweet candy apples, and jasmine."

Pleasant fresh air floral with maybe a smidgeon of apple, like an apple blossom. Looking at the scent notes, I don't think I smell rose.

Throw: Fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5, so best suited for a smaller room.

Fuzzy Blanket
"Lavender, sandalwood, and sweet honeysuckle."

I smell lavender first, and maybe a floral note, but there's some other note I can't figure out, maybe some kind of wood? I guess the floral is honeysuckle but it doesn't smell like honeysuckle to me on cold sniff. But melted, the floral is sweeter.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Ivy & Water Lily
"Mandarin zest, rain-kissed jasmine and sheer amber beneath fresh dew drops."

This is a lovely fresh floral scent with a smidgeon of lemon that makes it smell like authentic flower petals. It's not overly sweet. Looking at the scent notes I see mandarin, which is orange. I don't smell orange at all, although it might be the lemon I detect.

Throw: Not good, around a 2 or 2.5 out of 5

Lavender & White Balsam
"Lavender freshened by wintry white balsam and crisp amber."

Fantastic scent! I smell lavender first, then a slightly smoky spruce (not a biting pine note).

Throw: Excellent, at least a 4 or 4.5 out of 5.

Lemon Sorbet
"Fresh-cut lemon and grapefruit zest sweetened by sugarcane."

A sweet lemon with a kick, this one has that biting "fake" lemon note, but in a good way, since that's the kind of lemon you smell in lemon candies, lemon sorbet, etc. It's a bright, fresh sweet lemon scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell grapefruit but that's probably the biting almost bitter note I'm detecting.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Mystic Magnolia
"Creamy lemony vanilla with sweet and spicy rosewood is brought together with smooth amber and fresh herbal green leaves."

A floral but not too sweet, actually has a bitter note that makes it smell authentic. But also smells a little like a men's body wash, so it's kind of a "masculine" floral. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell lemon, but  real magnolia petals do have a slightly lemony note.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Rio Beach
"The scent of sun, surf, sand and samba – coconut milk, tropical fruit, and tonka bean."

This smells like buttery coconut vanilla, but not really a foodie scent as there's another note in there I can't figure out, maybe sandalwood or a smidgeon of baby powder or floral, and maybe even a slightly nutty note. Looking at the scent notes, there's the coconut milk and tonka bean (a type of vanilla). I don't really smell fruit, although that's probably the other note I couldn't figure out. It's not a typical tropical scent.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5.

Route 66
"An exhilirating breeze of citrus, herbs, and musk."

This smells like an outdoorsy men's body wash, natural and a little spicy. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell citrus.

Throw: Good, around a 3 out of 5

Strawberry Swirl
"Blissfully sweet and creamy, Strawberry Swirl whips together frozen strawberry, frothy milk and vanilla."

This is the richest, sweetest, creamiest strawberry ice cream scent I've ever smelled. I want to take a bite of the bar! It's like an intense rich sweet buttercream scent with sweet rich strawberry preserves folded in, and creamy milky whipped cream on top.

Throw: Scent monster, 5 out of 5 and took over the whole house

Summer Sunshine
"Pineapple and coconut bask in a warm mandarin glow."

I didn't include this in my video review since I didn't have it at the time. I can't figure out the notes in this one, but it smells great. Creamy and sweet, maybe a little coconut, maybe a little fruity, a little honeydew melon perhaps, and maybe a smidgeon of lemon and perhaps a bit of amber for warmth? This smells like a rich summery perfume. Looking at the scent notes, the pineapple is the fruitiness (although it doesn't smell like pineapple at all to me, which is good as I don't like pineapple scents), mandarin (which is basically orange) is probably the lemon I detect, and there's the coconut.

Throw: Excellent, at least 4 or 4.5 out of 5, and scent lasted all day (although throw not as strong after about 4 hours, which is very good!)

Wassail Wonderland
"Orange zest, lemon peel and cinnamon stick over fresh fir needles."

A fantastic combination of blue spruce with a smidgeon of orange or lemon I think, and maybe a smidgeon of spices. But this is not really a pomander scent, which is orange and cloves, a scent I don't like. I've always liked the combination of pine and orange or pine and lemon.

Throw: Excellent, at least 4 out of 5

World Traveler
"Blackberry, dark pomegranate and oak bark inspire adventure."

A subtle men's cologne or body wash scent, not overly sweet and not too "cologney". There may be sandalwood in there to give it more of a "natural" vibe. Looking at the scent notes, I don't detect any fruit in this scent. It's very similar to a lot of other men's cologne or body wash type scents that I have.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Hobby Lobby DD Scented Wax Melts Review

Hobby Lobby DD Scented Wax Melts Review

Hobby Lobby DD Scented Wax Melts Review

I did a review of most of the DD scented wax melts in December 2015. Since then, they hadn't come out with any new scents until Spring 2017, when I did find a couple of new ones. They sold out very quickly though, so I will have to go back after they restock.

The wax in the older melts was a different consistency than the new ones, even the same scents. The older wax was harder and had some bubbles in it. The new wax is still hard, but the surface is smooth and even, without any bubbles, and it has a greasy surface similar to Scentsy wax.

Coastal Vanilla
Notes: vanilla orchid, coastal breeze and white musk
This is definitely a tropical scent. I smell mango I think, or maybe it's pineapple, with a slightly tart lemony, orange or satsuma note. It's a great scent, but I'm surprised I don't see any tropical fruit in the notes. When I reviewed this scent on 12/13/15 it had weak throw, only 2 out of 5, but throw was better this time with the slightly softer Scentsy like wax, around a 3 out of 5.

Coconut Milk & Patchouli
Notes: sweet coconut, sandalwood and exotic patchouli
I reviewed this scent on 12/13/15. This smells like cashmere or amber, with a slight milky coconut note. But the cashmere may just be the combination of the coconut and the patchouli. This is a fantastic and classy scent. It's not a true coconut scent, and not tropical at all. Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5, same as the older wax.

Candied Pecans
Notes: crushed pecan, vanilla & brown sugar
A nutty brown sugar cinnamony scent. Very nice, although I'm so over fall scents and this is pretty much a typical fall bakery scent. Throw was excellent, around a 3.5 or 4 out of 5. When I reviewed this scent on 12/13/15 (older wax), throw was very good, 3.5 out of 5.

Papaya & Pineapple
Notes: juicy papaya & island pineapple
I'm not a fan of pineapple scents, but the sweet pineapple mixed with the slightly sour papaya smells fantastic. It almost has a slightly lemony note. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5. When I reviewed this on 12/13/15 (older wax), throw was only good, 3 out of 5.

Sage Teakwood
Notes: warm sage & aged wood
This is a brand new scent. It smells like sweet cedar wood with a warm perfumey or cologney note and a smidgeon of a natural "green" note. It's very nice. Throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Sweet Jasmine
Notes: crisp white jasmine
This is a brand new scent. It was weak on cold sniff. It smells like jasmine perfume with a little gardenia. Throw was not good, around a 2.5 out of 5, but would do well in a small room.

1803 Candles Soy Melts Reviews

1803 Candles Soy Melts Reviews

1803 Candles Soy Melts Reviews

Watch video below:

I bought three 1803 Candles soy melts from a local gift shop for $5.99 each. They cost $5.50 on their website (https://1803candles.com/products/soy-melts). These prices are very expensive, so I was hoping they'd be worth the cost. I only bought 3 scents because of the cost, and the fact that I didn't care for most of the scents on cold sniff. Pure soy wax tends to have an offputting note in the background, a little mildewy or sour. The consistency of these melts is awful, as is the case with most pure soy wax melts. The wax is messy and crumbly, like bleu cheese. If you've ever tried Burt's Bees wax melts from Target or Walmart, it's pretty much like that, difficult to work with and quite messy trying to get a cube out of the package.

Blueberry Pickin'

Notes: Perfectly baked, fresh-from-the-oven blueberry pie fills the kitchen with a mouth-watering aroma. The flaky, sugared crust that grandma hand blended is the perfect complement to the blueberries, fresh cream, brown sugar, and vanilla.

Review: I smell blueberry with a smidgeon of cinnamon I think. This is not an authentic blueberry scent, but it's also not that harsh fake blueberry scent either. It's very nice.

Throw: First I melted it in a standard 20W Glade warmer and throw was poor, like a 1.5 out of 5. Then, because I know that soy wax tends to prefer lower heat, I put another cube in the new 13W Glade warmer. Throw improved only slightly, maybe a 2 or 2.5 out of 5, but that's only because I had both warmers going at the same time! I didn't notice a better output from the 13W warmer.

Family Everything

Notes: Smooth vanilla and nutty cardamom blended with a small amount of musk.

Review: This smells like a rich vanilla buttercream with maybe a hint of chocolate and nuts and possibly a smidgeon of cinnamon. It smells yummy and decadent! Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell the fennel/anise notes of cardamom, but cardamom does have a nutty note. I also don't smell musk.

Throw: Poor, about a 1.5 or possibly 2 out of 5, but might do well in a tiny bathroom.

Seaside Memories

Notes: Lime and sweet coconuts

Review: I smell a very sweet lime mixed with rich vanilla and a smidgeon of coconut. The coconut note is not strong at all. This smells like a rich, creamy lime flavored vanilla buttercream frosting, and I smell a berry note in there even though it's not in a the scent notes. Great scent!

Throw: Very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5
