Northern Lights Candles is a New York based candle company that sells their products online as well as through retailers across the country, such as Bed Bath and Beyond, Wayfair.com, gift shops, etc. They carry scented wax melts (https://www.northernlightscandles.com/productscategoryLarge.cfm?Name=Fragranced&PLine=Wax%20Melts&Status=Fragranced) in 3 sizes: 4oz. Pillow Pack, 8oz. Mason Melts, and 5-lb. Pack. I got the 4oz. Pillow Packs (https://www.northernlightscandles.com/Store/ProductDetail.cfm?Name=Fragranced&Line=Wax%20Melts&Size=Pillow%20Pack&Status=Fragranced). These are cardboard packs with tiny wax cubes inside. About 5 of these wax cubes seems to be equivalent to 1 "normal" sized wax cube. The Pillow Packs are $5.99 for 4oz., which is equivalent to $3.74 for a standard 2.5oz. wax melt. So, a bit pricey. The 8oz. Mason Melts are $15.99 for 8oz., which is equivalent to $5.00 for a standard 2.5 oz. wax melt. And the 5 POUND pack is $75.99, which is 80 oz. (like 32 standard 2.5oz. wax melts!), equivalent to $2.38 for a 2.5 oz. wax melt. This last option is the most economical, but I'm not certain what type of pack they come in and if the pack can be sealed. And you'd really have to be in love with a scent to get that much!

The Pillow Pack melts are made to use in a fairly short amount of time. This is because the package is made of cardboard (and looks like a Hot Pockets package!), and the top and bottom end close "just enough" to prevent the wax from spilling out. Wax melts, like perfume, need to be stored in well-sealed containers. So if you buy the Pillow Pack 4oz. packs, be prepared to use each scent within a few months at most. If you really like a scent, it would be best to reorder the 8oz. Mason Melts, which come in a glass jar with a lid. I took the wax out of my Pillow Pack packages and put them in sealable polypropylene bags (which are the only type of plastic bags that sufficiently protects the wax from air).

Cranberry
This is a generic cranberry scent with a slightly bitter note, not very sweet. I'm not crazy about the scent. Throw was poor, 1 or maybe 1.5 out of 5.

Crisp Apple
A nice apple scent with a smidgeon of caramel. It's not very sweet, but that's okay. Throw was very good, 3.5 out of 5.

Farmstand Peach
This is a nice, fairly standard peach scent. Throw was good, 3 out of 5.

Fraser Fir
A fantastic smoky earthy woodsy warm spruce scent with a hint of eucalyptus and a smidgeon of a dirt note (but in a good way). This is not a harsh pine scent. It smells like a Christmas tree next to a cozy fire. Throw was very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5.

Fresh Linen
A nice sweet fabric softener scent. This is not a harsh laundry detergent scent. Throw was very good, 3.5 out of 5.

Ginger Tea & Honey
This smells like lemon flavored iced tea mix. It's rich and sweet and smells fantastic. I don't smell ginger or honey though. Throw was good, 3 out of 5.

Lavender Vanilla
This is a standard lavender scent with a slight sweetness, and not too medicinal. Throw was not good, maybe a 2 out of 5, and dissipated within a half hour.

Mysteria
A very nice old-fashioned soapy perfumey scent, but not overly sweet. It's not a musk or floral scent, and I think it might be considered an "oriental spice" type scent. It has that "old lady" perfume note that some people don't like, but I love it! Throw was very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Oatmeal Cookie
This really smells like a sweet, rich oatmeal cookie. Throw was very good, 3.5 out of 5.

Tender
This smells almost exactly like Mysteria, but I think there's a baby powder note in this one. Another nice scent! Throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Autumn Walk
This smells like a men's cologne with a slight woodsy note, but not smoky. It's just an "okay" scent for me, as the cologne is a bit harsh.
Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Baked Apple Pie
A nice sweet apple pie scent with a hint of cloves. It's nice, but a typical apple pie scent like a lot of others out there.
Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Cozy Lodge
A very nice sweet woodsy scent with a oud wood note (a dark, resinous, slightly bitter woodsy scent). This smells like an expensive furniture store, and a lot like Better Homes and Gardens "Pure White Woods".
Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Pumpkin Praline
A super rich sweet milky caramel scent with an almond note and just a smidgen of pumpkin spices. This is quite similar to Mainstays Pecan Pumpkin Cake, except this scent  has an almond note that the Mainstays scent does not have. I think this is going to be the most popular scent of the new Fall Candle Collection because it's so yummy!
Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Pumpkin Spice Chai
A sweet pumpkin pie scent with a hint of chai tea.
Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Spiced Citrus Pomander
I'm normally not a fan of pomander, which is generally a combination of orange and spices like clove. They often smell weird and soapy to me. But this one smells rather nice as it has more orange in it than most pomander scents I've smelled.
Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Trapp Fragrances Wax Melts Reviews

Trapp Fragrances Wax Melts Reviews

Trapp Fragrances Wax Melts

Watch video below:

Everyone should have at least a couple of Trapp Wax Melts in their scented wax melt collection. These are high quality luxury melts. These are not scents that you melt in your kid's room or put by the cat litter box. They're meant to be savored, like a fine wine! So get out the champagne and strawberries, draw a bath, and enjoy the sophisticated scent of a Trapp wax melt.

Most of these scents are different from scents I've smelled in any other wax melt brand. They're incredibly authentic and realistic. Many of them smell like the inside of an upscale furniture store or expensive hotel. And most of them had excellent throw, several of which were scent monsters that took over the house. And for the most part, the scents lasted a very long time, many hours, even an entire day.

They are expensive, $7.50 for 2.6 oz. of wax that would cost $2.00 to $3.00 at a local store. You can buy 3 for $20, which works out to $6.67. That's still expensive, but then again, the scents are phenomenal, and these are luxury melts that you're not going to buy every day.

The wax is quite soft and messy, greasy and slippery, and some have watery oil on the surface. I had a few bars slip out of my hands as the heat from my hands started melting them. The wax is also difficult to get out of the package because of how slippery it is and because of the shape of the wax. Like most wax melts out there, the pieces are scored so that you can easily break them apart. But the pieces are different sizes, so unless you've used this brand before, you won't know how much to put into the warmer. I've figured that the largest piece (in the top corner) is roughly the size of one regular sized cube of wax. The smaller pieces can be put into the warmer two at a time. So although you get 9 sections of wax, you really get 6 melts out of them, which is standard among wax melts. You also have to make sure that when you're done, the plastic package snaps completely shut. With a couple of them I went back and saw that one end had not snapped shut when I thought I had closed them. A small opening could allow the oils to seep out and cause a mess, and cause the scent to dissipate in time when mixed with the air.

In summary, I feel that the "pros" of these fantastic, sophisticated, high quality, authentic, excellent throwing, long lasting scents outweigh the "cons" of the high price, messy wax, and difficult packaging.

Trapp Fragrances Wax Melts can be ordered online at http://store.trappcandles.com/26oz-Home-Fragrance-Melts_c_87.html.They are offering my Facebook group members FREE shipping on any size order until August 1, 2017 (but there may be other discounts in the future). I've posted the code on https://www.facebook.com/groups/scentedwaxretail.

On October 6, 2017 I reviewed the Trapp Fragrances Fall & Winter seasonal scents at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/10/trapp-fragrances-wax-melts-reviews-fall-winter-2017.html.

No. 28 - Bamboo Sugar Cane

Description: Notes from the heart of the sugar cane with a burst of citrus, enhanced with a touch of green bamboo

Notes: Touch of Green Bamboo; Sugar Cane; Burst of Citrus

My Review:
I smell a tropical fruit scent with a strong green note. It's a tiny bit like pineapple but not nearly as sweet, and with a smidgeon of a woodsy or peppery note. It also has a very fresh, crisp note, with maybe a smidgeon of lemon (looking at the scent notes, there's the citrus). Bamboo scent is very green with a light, fruity tone, which is actually what I'm smelling here. It's a very natural, authentic scent. Despite the sugar cane note, this is not an overly sweet scent, since natural sugar cane is a green scent, and sugar itself does not have a scent unless it's mixed with something else sweet like vanilla. I really like this scent! It's so exotic and unique, and my description doesn't do it justice.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

No. 70 - Black Orchid Ylang

Description: Full of mystery and intrigue, this fragrance captures the beauty of the rare black orchid and enhances it with exotic essence of the ylang ylang flower

Notes: Ylang Ylang Flower; Black Orchid; Jasmine

My Review:
I've smelled this scent before and it's very familiar, so I probably have this scent in another brand but I don't remember which one. It's quite nice, a slightly bitter floral like an iris, not overly sweet, and with a warm ambery note. It does smell a bit like ylang ylang.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

No. 13 - Bob's Flower Shoppe

Description: Imagine walking into an open air flower market – you are enveloped by the fragrance of all the flowers, freshly cut green stems, and water droplets on each petal.

Notes: Mélange of Fresh Florals; Cut Green Stems; Aqueous Notes

My Review:
This one might be my favorite. I've never smelled a floral scented wax melt that smells so realistic! The scent description describes it perfectly. It smells like walking into a flower shop or hothouse. I smell honeysuckle and lilies and daisies, as well as a slightly bitter green note that makes this scent smell so authentic, like real flowers without that overly sweet perfumey note. Fantastic, realistic scent!

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, scent monster that took over the whole house, and lasted for 6 to 7 hours

No. 66 - Fig & Mimosa

Description: The perfect balance of bright and spicy. Ripe figs and delicate mimosa blooms are complemented by the richness of blonde woods.

Notes: Ripe Fig; Mimosa Blossoms; Blonde Woods

My Review:
This smells like a softer, warmer, fruitier version of the Mediterranean Fig scent. It smells a lot like the Wild Currant scent as well, but with different notes. It's a fantastic scent, with almost a yummy quality.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5, and scent lasted 2 or 3 hours

No. 8 - Fresh Cut Tuberose

Description: Tuberose is a tropical white flower with an intense, heady floral fragrance that reminds you of a gardenia, only more powerful and memorable

Notes: French Tuberose; Heady White Florals; Fresh Green Notes

My Review:
Tuberose is one of my favorite floral scents. It smells like gardenia, but richer and warmer. This scent is an authentic tuberose with a sweet perfumey note. Fantastic! My roommate says it smells like suntan lotion, and I do smell that a little.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, scent monster that took over the whole house, and the scent lasted 12 hours!

No. 71 - Indigo Acai

Description: Rich tropical berry notes blended with aromatic white floral notes of Gardenia and Jasmine. Creamy vanilla notes and White Musk add warmth to compliment this bright and lively fragrance.

Notes: Acai Berry; White Florals; Creamy Vanilla

My Review:
This smells like Scentsy Luna, ScentSationals Blackberry Cider, and Goose Creek Blackberry Parfait, but with slightly different notes. It's a very popular type of scent with a warm rich cashmere amber and hint of rich blackberries or plum. This version is richer and more full-bodied and slightly less sweet than other versions I've smelled. It's so rich it almost has a very slight sweet tobacco note. Very nice!

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

No. 60 - Jasmine Gardenia

Description: Classic, sophisticated and stylish. An exquisite combination of the timelessness of jasmine and the heart notes of gardenia with a hint of honeysuckle top notes.

Notes: Gardenia; Night Blooming Jasmine; Hint of Honeysuckle

My Review:
My 3 favorite floral notes together! It's hard to tell them apart sometimes, but all I know is this scent is sweet and warm and fantastic. I think I smell the gardenia the most. It's sweet and a little perfumey, but with just enough "greenness" to make it smell authentic.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, scent monster that took over the whole house, and scent lasted over 8 hours

No. 25 - Lavender de Provence

Description: True lavender, found only in Provence, the lavender capital of the world. A lavender so refined and accurate that it was previously only found in perfumes.

Notes: French Lavender; Clary Sage; Hint of Vanilla

My Review:
This is the most authentic lavender scent I've ever smelled in a wax melt, like lavender essential oil, or like rubbing lavender flowers from the plant between your fingers. There's a smidgeon of sweetness to keep it from smelling medicinal (the vanilla).

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, scent monster that took over the whole house. Scent lasted 4 or 5 hours.

No. 10 - Lemongrass Verbena (not pictured)

Description: Crisp citrus notes extracted from Asian lemongrass complemented by Brazilian verbena and softened with base notes of vanilla.

Notes: Asian Lemongrass; Brazilian Verbena; Hint of Vanilla

My Review:
I smell both the lemongrass and the verbena. It's a clean, tart lemony scent with just a hint of a soapy note, and even a smidgen of what smells a bit like citronella. I don't really smell the vanilla, although there is a hint of sweetness that could be the vanilla.

Throw: Very good, 3.5 out of 5

No. 14 - Mediterranean Fig

Description: Sophisticated and fruity at the same time, reminiscent of a fresh fig ripened in the warm Tuscan sun

Notes: Tuscan Fig; Hint of Melon; Blonde Woods

My Review:
A very green, almost grassy, bitter fruit scent with a smidgeon of a raw wood note. I didn't like this one at first, but then it kind of grew on me.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

No. 4 - Orange Vanilla

Description: The perfect combination of crisp orange notes elevated by the exquisite addition of Tahitian vanilla

Notes: Brazilian Orange; Tahitian Vanilla

My Review:
This smells like a homemade orange creamsicle. The orange is very authentic and smells like real orange juice mixed with vanilla and sugar. It's sweet of course, but not a fake cloyingly candy sweetness.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, scent monster that took over the whole house, and the scent lasted 8 hours!

No. 61 - Quince & Pomegranate

Description: Sun-ripened quince & fresh pomegranate with top notes of Asiatic Lily

Notes: Sun-Ripened Quince; Fresh Pomegranate; Asiatic Lily

My Review:
A nice authentic slightly earthy scent with a fruity note, and not very sweet. It smells a bit like fig or currant, a sophisticated fruit scent. It's a nice scent, but I don't like it as much as most of the others as it has a slightly bitter note.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5, and lasted 5 or 6 hours.

No. 39 - Sexy Cinnamon

Description: Sultry, smooth and sophisticated - cinnamon like you have never experienced before. It's not your Grandma's cinnamon.

Notes: Natural Cinnamon; Blonde Woods; Aromatic Spices

My Review:
This is a subtle "atmospheric" cinnamon scent, not a bakery or holiday or Big Red cinnamon. The cinnamon is not strong at all. I also smell subtle cloves or maybe a light wood note and maybe a floral or incense note in the background. I'm not a fan of straight cinnamon scents, but I like this one.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

No. 68 - Teak & Oud Wood

Description: A modern blend of dark woody and sophisticated sweet notes. Madagascar vanilla and Tonka Bean balance out this fragrance to create a smooth and spicy aroma.

Notes: Teak; Oud Wood; Madagascar Vanilla

My Review:
This is an intense, resinous wood scent. I can smell the oud (the resinous wood note that smells almost like the sap of a tree, with a slight green note). It has a tiny bit of sweetness that I think is vanilla, but it's mostly kind of bitter, but in a good way. Looking at the scent notes, there's the vanilla. There's no smokiness at all in this scent. It's a sophisticated scent, like something you would smell when you walk into an expensive furniture store.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

No. 20 - Water

Description: The ozonic, watery notes are unlike anything you have ever experienced. This sophisticated, clean fragrance will astound you with its fresh and energizing spirit.

Notes: Ozonic Aqueous Notes; Slight Hint of Floral

My Review:
This smells like a sophisticated yet fun spring perfume scent with a little bit of a laundry note, and not overly sweet.

Throw: Very good, 3.5 out of 5, and lasted about 4 hours.

No. 64 - White Lotus & Lychee (not pictured)

Description: An exotic fragrance that captures the delicate beauty of the white lotus flower enhanced with fresh lychee fruit and creamy jasmine rice.

Notes: White Lotus Flower; Fresh Lychee; Creamy Jasmine Rice

My Review:
I can't figure out what this smells like, but it's nice. I smell a slightly tropical fig like fruit with a creamy background and maybe a smidgeon of light wood and a hint of orange. I think there's a hint of floral in there too. This smells authentic and natural, and not overly sweet. I don't know what lychee is supposed to smell like, but according to online research, it's a fresh, fruity, citrusy scent but not too sweet, like a mild rosy juicy grape.

Throw: Very good, 3.5 out of 5.

No. 24 - Wild Currant

Description: The perfect currant. It captures the fresh, fruity taste with an unforgettable blend of red and black currant.

Notes: Red Currant; Cassis; Hint of Green Notes

My Review:
Currant is one of my favorite scents. It's a very slightly tart, fig-like, classy and sophisticated soapy scent with a very slight berry note and only a smidgeon of sweetness. When mixed with other scents, it gives the scent a "classy" note. It's a little like cranberry, but sweeter and not as tart. Looking at the scent notes, cassis is a type of currant, similar to fig, with slight cedar, clove and patchouli notes. Although I don't smell clove or patchouli in this scent, but there is a smidgeon of light wood which could be a cedar note.

Throw: Excellent, 4 or 5 out of 5, and lasted 5 or 6 hours.

Added September 11, 2017:
No. 41- Black Pepper

Description: Dark and aromatic, full of romance and intrigue. Notes of black peppercorn, anise and balsam wood lend to its unique character.

Notes: Black peppercorn, pink peppercorn, anise, balsam wood

My Review:
A unique scent, this smells like black pepper powder with just a barely noticeable hint of sweetness and maybe a smidgen of a woodsy note or even pine. I like this one.

Throw: Not Good, 2 or 2.5 out of 5, but this is a discontinued scent that I bought at the store "Tuesday Morning". It's probably quite old and may have been opened and sniffed by a lot of people.

Flying Mallard Candle Co. Wax Melts Reviews

Flying Mallard Candle Co. Wax Melts Reviews

Watch video below:

This is a review of Flying Mallard Candle Co. scented wax melts. She's a vendor in Peoria, Illinois, and she makes scented wax melts, votives, body lotion, and shower gel. Her Etsy page is flyingmallardcandles.etsy.com, and her Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/FlyingMallardCandles. I was very happy with my order, the quality of the scents, and her excellent customer service and friendly, professional demeanor. The only negative I had about the melts is that the wax was very difficult to get out of package, and the consistency of the wax was like nougat… hard yet sticky. I had to cut out each block with a butter knife as they were stuck to the inside of the clamshell. But this was not at all a deal-breaker, as the quality of the scents more than made up for the slight inconvenience. The average throw of all of these scents combined was good to very good. Most of the scents had very good throw.

A Midsummer Night

Notes: This rich and alluring masculine scent is reminiscent of lying on the hood of a car in the middle of a field on a hot summer night, watching the stars twinkling above, without a care in the world.

My Review:
Based on the scent name, I assume this is supposed to be a dupe of the Yankee scent Midsummer's Night, although that's not mentioned in the scent description. It's the same deep blue color though. It smells nothing like Yankee's Midsummer's Night, which is definitely a spicy men's cologne. This scent is a nice clean slightly soapy perfumey scent, not a men's cologne scent but could be a men's body wash type scent.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

African Safari

Notes: This delicious scent encompasses everything 'safari' that is too majestic to describe in words. It's rich, edgy, masculine, adventurous!

My Review:
An expensive soapy men's body wash scent with a bit of a green, grassy, maybe slightly raw wood note (but not smoky). It's not very sweet, and it's not a harsh cologne scent. I really like it.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Amaretto Nog

Notes: A relaxing blend of sweet almond and vanilla.

My Review:
This is a very nice sweet candy like scent with an almond note and a little bit of a perfumey note.

Throw: Fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5

Apricot Freesia

Notes: This is an upbeat blend of fruit and floral. If you don't like fruit scents because they are too sweet, try this one. The freesia really tones down the syrupy notes while the apricot livens up the freesia.

My Review:
This is a rich milky peach scent, and it's not very sweet. It smells like the fuzzy outside of the peach. I don't smell freesia or any floral though.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Bamboo Mint

Notes: A clean, refreshing blend of fresh green bamboo and mint comingled with deep florals and musk. Top notes open with fresh pear, mint, black pepper and galbanum. A heart of bamboo, black currant, ozonic lily and tuberose are wrapped in a base of sandalwood, musk and violet.

My Review:
A super rich watery herbal soap scent. It smells like you're taking a shower or you're at the spa with an expensive herbal shower gel. Fantastic scent, and perfect for a bathroom.

Throw: Not good, 2 or 2.5 out of 5

Banana Nut Bread

Notes: The mouth-watering aroma of oven fresh banana bread. This delicious combination of walnuts, ripe banana, vanilla, and a touch of spice is sure to spark your appetite.

My Review:
This smells fantastic! It's a rich, buttery banana and nut scent. I almost want to eat the wax!

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Butternut Pumpkin

Notes: This is a perfect autumn fragrance with a blend of butternut squash, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, clove and vanilla.

My Review:
A sweet molasses scent with a pumpkin note, kind of like pumpkin butter. There are some spices in there like cinnamon, but this is a bit different from a lot of "typical" fall scents and doesn't have that typical pumpkin note.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Candy Cane

Notes: The sweet smell of the holiday favorite.

My Review:
A nice sweet peppermint scent with a warm vanilla note, which makes it a little different and richer than other candy cane scents I've smelled, almost with a cake-y note. It's not overly minty, and time went on it became less and less minty. Very nice scent.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Cherry Blossom

Notes: A fresh-woody floral white-cherry blossom type with top notes of green rosewood, middle notes of lily-rose, and a light woody background.

My Review:
I barely smell anything on cold sniff, maybe a slightly sweet soapy scent. Cherry Blossom scents in general always seem to have weak throw, no matter which company makes them. Melted, it's a sweet delicate floral with a baby powder note.

Throw: Fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5, but the scent faded within a half hour

China Rain

Notes: A soft white floral bouquet of carnation, lily and crisp white grapefruit. The heart is a radiant blend of jasmine, tuberose, cyclamen and violet. The base combines vanilla beans, East Indian sandalwood, rose crystals and long lasting sexy musk.

My Review:
I love this scent. It's a delicate rose scent with a very sweet, fresh soapy note. Like a sweet rose scented soap. Looking at the scent notes, there's the "rose crystals". I don't smell grapefruit at all, but I do smell the musk a bit, and maybe a smidgeon of sandalwood in the background. Fantastic scent, and perfect for a bedroom or bathroom.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5 and I smelled it throughout the whole house. But it's a light scent, so it wasn't overwhelming at all.

Christmas Hearth

Notes: A nutty bouquet with maple, cinnamon and clove top notes with a syrupy sweet background.

My Review:
What a nice and different scent. It smells like orange with cinnamon and caramel and maybe a hint of nut. But it's not an orange pomander scent, which I don't like as it has that soapy gaggy note. This is a very nice scent. Looking at the scent notes, I'm surprised I don't see orange, since orange is the predominant note.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Coconut Lime Verbena (Type)

Notes: A duplicate of the popular Bath and Body Works fragrance, a luscious blend of juicy citrus fruits such as lemon and lime on a delicate heart of creamy coconut and fresh florals. Vanilla notes and sandalwood round out the blend.

My Review:
A nice fresh watery coconut scent. This one is not sweet, and has a smidgeon of lime which is not really noticeable when melted. It doesn't smell very fruity as the scent notes would suggest.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Dickens Christmas

Notes: A fruity, spicy bouquet with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and juniper notes with a sweet, musky background.

My Review:
A nice warm apple spice scent with cinnamon, clove, and a hint of wood and may be a smidgeon of pine. Looking at the notes, they're spot on.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Fall Festival

Notes: Top notes of sparkling citrus, cinnamon, and Macintosh apple with mid notes of blush rose, clove buds and crushed greens on a base of raspberry jam, scarlet peach and sugared vanilla.

My Review:
Ooh I like this one. I've been over fall scents for a while now, but although this is a fall scent, it's different from "the usual". I smell apples and cloves and cinnamon and kind of a "dirt" note, but in a good way. It's like apples that have fallen on the ground or are a little overripe. But the way all the notes work together, it's different than a typical fall scent. Looking at the scent notes, I see citrus, rose, raspberry and peach, which are not typical fall notes. I don't smell any of those notes, maybe a smidgeon of the raspberry perhaps which gives this scent a sweet richness.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Frankincense & Myrrh

Notes: This fragrance embodies the classic and enchanting aromatic blend of frankincense and myrrh, with bergamot, patchouli and sandalwood.

My Review:
A fantastic incense type scent, very similar to nag champa with that baby powder note, but just slightly less sweet and not as soapy.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5, and lasted all day

Freshly Cut Grass

Notes: This scent is fresh, clean and vibrant. It's a single note fragrance smelling of... fresh cut grass! It's crisp, sweet and green. You'll love it!

My Review:
I barely smell anything on cold sniff, although the little bit I do smell does have kind of a sweet green grassy scent.

Throw: Not good, 2 or maybe 2.5 out of 5

Hansel & Gretel's House

Notes: A rich base of cocoa and vanilla bean supports mid notes of nutmeg, honey, ginger and clove with top notes of lemon and orange.

My Review:
I smell caramel, cinnamon, brown sugar, and a little bit of ginger. Yummy, and super rich! Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell lemon, orange, or cocoa at all. Although it does have a little bit of a "fudgy" vibe, so the cocoa might be way in the background and might be contributing to the extra richness. Melted, it smells like a pancake breakfast with butter and lots of syrup!

Throw: Fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5

Icicles

Notes: Top notes of ozone and cypress with mid notes of jasmine and spice on a base of cedar, sugar and moss

My Review:
I smell mint and a slightly sweet spice, kind of peppery. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell jasmine specifically, but I guess that's adding to the slightly sweet note. It's a chilly wintery type of scent even though it's not overly minty.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Juicy Couture (Type)

Notes: A fruity floral fragrance with mandarin, watermelon, green apple, marigold, lily and crème brûlée notes. The base of this fragrance is a woody vanilla complex including Sandalwood, Cedar, Vanilla, and a touch of musk.

My Review:
I've never smelled Juicy Couture so I don't know how accurate this scent is, but it's a nice perfumey scent. It's one of those more modern type perfumes (not an older sophisticated classic), and it's more of a young girl's perfume, quite sweet but it doesn't have a candy note like a lot of the young girl perfumes have. It's quite nice. Looking at the scent notes, I don't detect the fruity notes but they could be way in the background.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Juniper Breeze

Notes: A duplicate of the popular Bath and Body Works fragrance, this has a blend of floral, green and fruity notes with a slight musk undertone.

My Review:
Based on the scent name I expected this to smell like a Christmas tree, but it doesn't. It's better! It's a sweet fresh watery scent with a soapy note. It smells a little bit like ScentSationals Bali Shores, but not as sweet.

Throw: Very good, 3.5 out of 5

Lemon Lavender (Type)

Notes: A beautiful blend of lemon, French lavender, and green leafy hints with geranium, rose and eucalyptus oil on a base of Virginia cedarwood and vanilla.

My Review:
On cold sniff, this is a nice clean lemon Pine Sol type lemon mixed with lavender. But melted, I smell the lavender more, mixed with a little bit of salty lemon but it doesn't have as much as an "industrial" lemon cleaner scent as it does on cold sniff. Very nice scent. Looking at the scent notes, it's probably the eucalyptus that gives it that lemon verbena/industrial cleaner note. And geranium has a bitter note.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Masquerade

Notes: An ozonic blast of crisp mountain air, citrus, and leafy green freshness mingled with a hint of berries that weaves into Colorado blue spruce, white pine and ivory geranium.

My Review:
I thought I wasn't going to like this based on cold sniff. It kind of smells like salty Play-Doh on cold sniff and I wasn't even going to bother melting it. But I'm so glad I did! It smells really good, kind of a floral with a bit of a green savory note, very hard to describe. Looking at the scent notes, now that I know spruce and pine are in this scent, I do smell that, which is the savory note. I don't smell citrus or berries, but they're probably where the sweetness is coming from.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5, but faded in under 1 hour

Midnight Pomegranate

Notes: A duplication of the Bath and Body Works fragrance, this has a deep and sensual scent with a sweet tart twist. Sparkling notes of citrus, dewberry, and cassis dress up the deeper notes of Musk, sandalwood and vanilla.

My Review:
This smells like cranberry with a little bit of a clove note, and it's not very sweet.

Throw: Not good, 2 out of 5

Mistletoe

Notes: A festive pine scent with a top note of sweet berries and green apples.

My Review:
A fantastic spruce scent with a hint of eucalyptus and maybe a smidgeon of berries. It's not a biting pine scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell apple at all.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5

Oakmoss

Notes: A blend of jasmine and rose on an undertone of cedarwood and patchouli with a strong background of moss, which is a very popular masculine fragrance.

My Review:
A nice slightly sweet soapy scent with herbal notes and maybe a patchouli note. It smells a little bit like a men's body wash. Looking at the scent notes, there's the patchouli. And on cold sniff I think I do smell a hint of rose, but I don't smell that when melted, or the jasmine. If you've ever smelled a "sage and citrus" scent, it smells kind of like that (sage & citrus scents don't really have sage or citrus notes).

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Pink Chiffon (Type)

Notes: A duplicate of the popular Bath and Body Works type, this scent has top notes of sparkling pear, peach nectar, and wild berries with mid notes of water lily, apple blossom, tiare flower and jasmine on a base of vanilla orchid, sandalwood, coconut milk, and chiffon musk

My Review:
Super rich Pink Sugar scent with a bit of a marshmallowy vanilla buttercream note, and a bit of a perfume note. Fantastic scent! Looking at the scent notes, I do detect a smidgeon of coconut. And maybe just a hint of berries although way in the background.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5 and I smelled it throughout the whole house.

Sunflowers

Notes: A sophisticated, musky floral scent.

My Review:
Sunflowers don't actually have a scent, but this is a pleasant floral perfume scent with a little bit of warmth. It's not overly sweet or an overly girly perfume. Melted, it has a little bit of a mild kitchen cleaner scent, like Palmolive dish detergent, but not harsh at all. It's almost like a kitchen lemon scent, but without the lemon.

Throw: Very good, 3.5 out of 5

Sweet Pea

Notes: Light and airy, this elegant fragrance captures the sweet and floral essence of an English Garden.

My Review:
Yep, it's sweet pea, a sweet warm delicate floral scent. This one is slightly less sweet and slightly more soapy than some other sweet pea scents I've smelled, which is a good thing. It's a nice bedroom, bathroom, or baby's room scent.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Tropic Breeze

Notes: A saucy blend of all scents from the tropics – exotic fruits, salty sea air, and crisp blue water – all rolled into one fabulous scent!

My Review:
A yummy, happy summery scent! I smell pineapple, strawberry, creamy vanilla, and a little coconut. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell fresh air or salty ocean notes.

Throw: Fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5

Tuberose

Notes: Rich floral notes highlighted by delectable fruits, woods and stem green notes.

My Review:
Tuberose is one of my favorite scents, and hard to find in wax melts. It's a super strong, rich, slightly perfumey honeysuckle/gardenia type scent. And this one does not disappoint. Fantastic! Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell fruit at all, and not wood either, although I do smell a smidgeon of green notes that help to make this scent smell more authentic and not too perfumey.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5 and I smelled it throughout the whole house.

Warm Vanilla Sugar (Type)

Notes: This is a very accurate duplicate of one of Bath and Body Works best selling fragrances.

My Review:
A fantastic super sweet vanilla buttercream marshmallow burnt sugar scent with a warm cashmere perfumey note.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Watermelon Lemonade

Notes: Just like the popular Bath and Body Works fragrance, this is a refreshing blend of watermelon and freshly squeezed lemons.

My Review:
The perfect combination of watermelon and lemonade. It's the ultimate summer scent! On cold sniff, I smell the sweet watermelon first, but I definitely smell lemon as well. When melted, however, I smell a nice sweet candy-like watermelon scent but no lemon. Which is okay, because it smells fantastic. It smells almost exactly like Hanna's Candles new Watermelon Lemonade scent. But the Hanna's version had an excellent throw of 5 out of 5 that took over the entire house.

Throw: Very good, 3.5 out of 5

Welcome Home

Notes: It is a warm feeling of coming home to a house filled with aromas of cinnamon leaf, jasmine, agave nectar, fig, and French lavender with a rich base of cypress, cassia root and golden sandalwood.

My Review:
This is a green herbal grassy scent with maybe a smidgeon of cinnamon. It sounds like a weird combination, but it works. It's not very sweet. Looking at the scent notes, those are some interesting combinations! Fig tends to tone down sweetness and makes everything smell classy. I don't smell lavender or jasmine per se, but I think I detect the sandalwood. This scent is so "different", and I really like it!

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

White Ginger & Amber

Notes: This Bath and Body Works duplication is an exotic mix of precious woods and vanilla notes highlighted by coconut and muguet.

My Review:
I love the scent of white ginger. It's a delicate sweet incense type scent with a hint of woods, not the spicy type of ginger, more like a floral ginger. I smell that in this scent, along with a warm amber note. Looking at the scent notes, I didn't smell coconut but now that I know it's in there I think I detect is very slightly in the background. And the muguet is the floral note.

Throw: Poor, 1 out of 5

White Tea & Berries

Notes: A tantalizing tincture of herbal tea and dew-covered raspberries, blackberries, and elderberries.

My Review:
Ooh I love this scent! It smells like super sweet strawberries and cranberries with a sugary almost slightly Pink Sugar note, like berry scented lipstick. But it's also succulent and rich, with just a smidgeon of tartness. I think I do smell a very slight green tea note, but if I didn't know it was in there due to the scent name, I probably wouldn't detect it.

Throw: Very good, 3.5 out of 5

Big Lots Dual Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Big Lots Dual Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Big Lots 24 Dual Scented Wax Melts

Watch video below:

Big Lots came out with these Dual Scented Wax Melts in July 2017. The brand is not shown on the label, so I assume it's the Living Colors brand (Big Lots candles and wax melts brand). But I'm not sure. The wax is the same consistency, soft and greasy and messy. But this wax is even softer than the Living Colors wax. It's almost like tub margarine, and very difficult to get the cubes out of the package. I had to scrape the cubes out with a butter knife. There were 4 different dual scents.

Alaskan Cruise (Cypress & Cedar) and Amsterdam Floral Market (Garden Blooms)

- Alaskan Cruise (Cypress & Cedar)
A smoky fireplace scent with a strong pine note and maybe a smidgeon of cloves, and perhaps a hint of something fresh like a fresh air note. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

- Amsterdam Floral (Garden Blooms)
A fake bitter waxy floral scent, and not very sweet. I don't like this one. Throw was poor, 1.5 or 2 out of 5.

English Tea Time (Lemon Biscotti) and Tahitian Sunset (Coconut & Sea Salt)

- English Tea Time (Lemon Biscotti)
I think this is the same scent as the Living Colors Lemon Bars and Lime Mojito scents. It's a fantastic salty sweet lemon vanilla cake scent, with maybe a smidgeon of kitchen lemon. The throw of the Lemon Bars scent was excellent, but the throw on this scent was not good, 2 or 2.5 out of 5.

- Tahitian Sunset (Coconut & Sea Salt)
I smell coconut and a "biting" note which could be pineapple or some other tropical fruit, although it doesn't smell like fruit, more like ammonia. OMG, it smells like Windex window cleaner! It's not a terrible scent, but I don't care for it. Throw was very good though, 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

European Cafe (French Vanilla Latte) and Napa Valley Tours (Black Currant Cabernet)

- European Cafe (French Vanilla Latte)
A rich milky scent, like whipped cream, and not very sweet. It's a nice scent! But I don't smell coffee at all. Throw was not good, 2 or 2.5 out of 5.

- Napa Valley Tours (Black Currant Cabernet)
This is a nice candy-like scent that smells like grapes and other berries. Throw was non-existent, 0 out of 5.

Tuscan Countryside (Sunflower Fields) and Hawaiian Escape (Turquoise Waters)

- Tuscan Countryside (Sunflower Fields)
This is an interesting combination of scents. I smell a slightly bitter floral that makes this smell like old perfume, but there's a warm almost caramely note in the background that I really like. It's a unique scent! Throw was very good, 3.5 out of 5.

- Hawaiian Escape (Turquoise Waters)
A nice fresh watery scent with a hint of floral and maybe a smidgeon of coconut, although when melted I don't smell the coconut. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Hanna's Candle (CandleMart) Citronella Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Hanna's Candle (CandleMart) Citronella Scented Wax Melts Reviews

Hanna's Candles (CandleMart) Citronella Scented Wax Melts

Watch video below:

Citronella is a summery scent that's use to keep mosquitoes away. People either love or hate this scent, although it brings back memories of outdoor gatherings in the summer, with citronella candles on the picnic table. Citronella is an interesting scent, and not something you'd normally want the inside of your house to smell like. It has kind of a grassy but pungent soapy smell, not very sweet, and a little like lemon verbena but without a true lemon note. I see that these scents consist of 90% citronella and only 10% of the other scent; I would have liked to have had a greater percentage of the other scent, since I really just smelled the citronella. However, it's a true citronella scent, the real deal, using the real citronella oil!

I didn't test the mosquito fighting ability of these melts. But if you're going to use them outside, it makes more sense to buy the candles rather than the wax melts, unless you're using the melts in a tealight warmer which of course does not require electricity.

Lavender Citronella
Notes: 90% citronella and 10% lavender

I smell citronella, with a barely detectable hint of lavender. If I didn't know lavender was the other note, I wouldn't detect it. It's a slightly "softer" citronella. Throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Lemongrass Citronella
Notes: 90% citronella and 10% lemongrass

Of course the main note is citronella, but I do smell just a hint of lemongrass in the background. This one is the most "citronella-y" of these 4 scents. Throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Lime Cilantro Citronella
Notes: 90% citronella and 10% lime cilantro

Like the other two scents above, I just smell citronella. But there's a smidgeon of the lime in there, although if I didn't know it were in there I would probably not detect it. This one smells slightly more soapy (in a good way) and less intense than the Lemongrass Citronella. Throw was very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Orange Citronella
Notes: 90% citronella and 10% orange

This is the only citronella out of the 4 citronella scents where I can definitely detect the other non-citronella note. This is a good combination of citronella and orange. But throw was only fair, 2.5 or maybe 3 out of 5.

Courtney's Candles & Creations Wax Melts Reviews

Courtney's Candles & Creations Wax Melts Review

Courtney's Candles Wax Melts

Watch video below:

Courtney's Candles & Creations is a company based in Missouri that sells candles, wax melts, accessories, and other home decor related products from different manufacturers. She also makes her own wax melts, which I am reviewing today. So she's a one-stop source for lots of wax and candle related items!

It was a pleasure dealing with Courtney's Candles & Creations (not to be confused with other companies named Courtney's Candles). The owner was friendly, polite and professional. She's been making wax melts for many years and she definitely knows her stuff!

Courtney's Candles & Creations is one of the very few companies whose wax I've tried where the throw on all scents I tried was almost consistently excellent, and many of them are scent monsters that took over the house. The "worst" throw of the bunch was still a good thrower!

Courtney's Mixer Melts wax melts are made with paraffin wax, with extra fragrance oil added. The only negative I have is that the wax is an unusual consistency, hard but sticky, like nougat, which makes it very difficult to get out of package. I had to use a butter knife to cut the cube out. But this was definitely not a deal-breaker because the quality of the scents and throw of the wax more than makes up for it.

Courtney's Candles & Creations wax melts can be ordered online at http://www.courtneyscandles.com/ccmelts.html. She also has a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/courtneyscandlescreations. I will definitely be ordering from Courtney's Candles again!

Baby Powder

Notes: A favorite for a fresh clean aroma.

My Review:
Well the name says it all. This is a true baby powder scent. It's fantastic!

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, a scent monster that took over the whole house!

Black Currant Vanilla

Notes: Floral notes of fresh linen, green clover, rose, tuberose, narcissus, ylang, gardenia, jasmine and palm arose combined with warm woods of cedar. This is a dupe of the Bath and Body Works scent.

My Review:
Fantastic rich creamy warm sweet sophisticated perfumey scent with maybe a plum or blackberry note, but the currant tempers the fruitiness, and I do smell the vanilla. It has a little bit of a "Pink Sugar" note, but not as sweet and candyish. Interestingly, even though the scent name has "black currant" and "vanilla" in it, the scent notes on the website are completely different, and I'm pretty sure they're incorrect.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Brown Sugar & Fig

Notes: Ripe fig fruit and green fig leaf notes linger in the aroma of caramelized sugar and coconut milk and are accented with orchid, violet and sheer jasmine in a background of sandalwood and soft musk.

My Review:
This is not really a foodie scent, despite the name. It's a warm slightly sweet caramely type scent with a classy fig note that tempers some of the sweetness. It has a smidgeon of a perfumey note. Looking at the scent notes, yes I think I do detect a smidgeon of coconut! Very nice scent.

Throw: Good, 3 out of 5

Charleston

Notes: Soothing fragrance, a woodsy and spicy mix, including nutmeg, coriander, patchouli and cedar wood plus notes of honey and vetiver. This is a dupe of Lampe Berger brand Charleston home fragrance.

My Review:
This is a unique and interesting scent. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's a very smoky yet very sweet scent. It's not a woodsy type smoke, but more of a cigarette type smoke scent. However, it's also sweet,  slightly soapy, perfumey and floral. But that smokiness it the predominant note. Looking at the scent notes, I don't know where that super smoky note is coming from. I don't smell honey, although maybe that's the sweetness. I think I do smell a bit of nutmeg.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Heavenly Spruce

Notes: Vigorous spruce with spicy and woody notes.

My Review:
A nice warm spruce scent, not a biting pine scent. I detect a little eucalyptus as well.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Lady in Red

Notes: A sweet red currant with notes of tart green apple, pear, rose and a touch of pine. This is a dupe of Lady in Red perfume.

My Review:
I've never smelled Lady in Red perfume, so I don't know if this smells like it or not. But it's a pleasant rose scent with some other floral notes I think. It doesn't smell like perfume though, more like soap, which is a good thing, and it's not overly sweet. Looking at the scent notes, the currant is probably tempering the sweetness and providing that slight soapy note. I don't specifically smell apple, pear, or pine.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Lemon Flower

Notes: Fresh and delicate lemon and lime with notes of orange blossom and vetiver.

My Review:
This is a nice sweet and slightly sour lemon scent that smells like a soapy lemon scented cleaner with a little bit of a lime note. I don't smell any "flower" notes. Looking at the scent notes, the "vetiver" is probably the sour lime note. I don't smell orange blossom at all (which is a sweet neroli type floral).

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Opium

Notes: Just like the famous perfume. An exciting, rich, and spicy perfume fragrance.

My Review:
I've never smelled Opium perfume before. This is a nice rich classy women's perfume scent with an oriental spice note. It's not overly sweet and it's not a candy-type girly perfume.

Throw: Excellent, 4 or 4.5 out of 5

Orange and Evergreen

Notes: Not listed on website

My Review:
I smell the rich sprucey note of the evergreen, with the warm sweet orange blossom, neroli note (rather than a citrusy orange). The two notes work very well together, and make this scent smell fantastic. If you didn't know what you were smelling, you would think this was a sweet, rich, kind of perfumey evergreen scent.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, a scent monster that took over the whole house!

Orange Blossom

Notes: Lovely orange blossoms scented with soft notes of jasmine and honey.

My Review:
I love orange blossom fragrances. It's kind of a neroli type scent, but with this one I can actually smell a little bit of orange although it's not a citrusy smell because of the warm rich flowery neroli note. Very nice scent! Looking at the scent notes, I think I do detect a smidgeon of honey.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Originality

Notes: Herbaceous top notes of fresh eucalyptus folding into a mellow rosy floral accord surrounded by a powerful warm spicy cinnamon leaf, woody pine, and patchouli.

My Review:
This is an exact dupe of that fantastic Claire Burke "Original" scent. Claire Burke has their own wax melts in their "Original" scent, and they're $5 each on their website. Courtney's "Originality" is only $2.50 (currently on sale for $1.95).

I can't even begin to describe how good this scent is, and how happy I am that I found it in an affordable melt. There's no other scent out there that even comes close to what this smells like. It's fresh and herbal and smells a little like shaving cream or Noxzema, but then I smell rose and a warm woodsy incense note, and it even smells slightly like suntan oil, but it's not really sweet. It's a chameleon scent!

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, a scent monster that took over the whole house!

Patchouli Pure

Notes: Floral and amber notes blended with rich patchouli and woody cedar with touches of clove, vanilla and lemon resting on a base of sweet musk.

My Review:
A very nice sweet patchouli scent that smells like it might have some other incense spices in it. It's sweet and a little perfumey, and not as raw and woodsy as other patchouli scents I've smelled. Looking at the scent notes, well there's the floral and musk notes I'm detecting. I don't smell lemon though. I really like this scent.

Throw: Excellent, 5 out of 5, a scent monster that took over the whole house!

Secret Garden

Notes: Fruity notes of pineapple, peach, cherry, cassis and watermelon are combined with fresh floral marine and notes of orchids, violets, jasmine, gardenia, rose & magnolia, warmed with sweet creamy vanilla, caramel and clove.

My Review:
This is a sweet floral with a warm note and maybe a smidgeon of raspberry, as it has a slight Pink Sugar note, but not that sweet or candyish. It's a little similar to Black Currant Vanilla, but with a floral note.

Throw: Very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5
