Video

This is a review of most of the new Walmart Better Homes & Gardens scented wax melts Fall 2018 scents, Part 2 of 2. I couldn't find these scents at Walmart when I did the first review (https://www.scentedwaxmeltreviews.com/2018/09/better-homes-gardens-wax-melts-reviews-fall-2018-1.html).

I also added Woodland Forest Floor duo (not pictured or in the video) on October 19, since I didn't find it at Walmart until after I did this review. See review below.

Aloha Pineapple Pumpkin

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Aloha-Pineapple-Pumpkin-Scented-Wax-Melts/520138578

Notes: A juicy blend of sweet pear, fragrant apple and hints of citrus with warm notes of cinnamon spiced pumpkin, crushed all-spice, brown sugar and sweet amber completed with a touch of juicy pineapple

This is a pineapple scent. On cold sniff I also detect a smidgen of some kind of spice, and although it's kind of sweet, it's also very slightly salty. And there might be a barely detectable smidgen of musk in the background. Melted though, I don't smell spices, and it just smells like fake unsweetened pineapple. I'm not a fan of pineapple, so I didn't like this one. Looking at the notes, I don't smell pear, apple, or citrus.

Throw: Medium, 3.5 out of 5

Chilled Pomegranate Wine

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Chilled-Pomegranate-Wine-Scented-Wax-Melts/300135378

Notes: Late-harvest cherries, juicy cranberries and sweet ripened pomegranate fruit, stirred with citrus lemon, tart orange, pure cane sugar and spiked white wine to create a fun, festive, autumn sangria

This smells like a rich sweet raspberry with a hint of vanilla buttercream, but there's also another juicy berry note in the background, maybe cranberry. I don't smell lemon or orange at all, or any wine notes (which usually have a sour fermentation note that I don't like). Fantastic scent! It's a dupe of an older scent, perhaps Better Homes & Gardens Cranberry Apple Martini from 2015.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Dark Midnight Skies

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Dark-Midnight-Skies-Scented-Wax-Melts/750498958

Notes: A captivating aromatic woody blend with petitgrain, cardamom, lemon, orange and fir with a heart of jasmine, rosemary and rose, with a warming base of vetiver, musk, oak moss and Brazilian rosewood.

A nice, fresh, slightly herbal men's cologne scent or body wash with a hint of soapiness. It smells similar to Cool Water cologne, as well as a lot of other men's cologne type wax melts. I believe it's a dupe of an older ScentSationals men's cologne scent, but I don't remember which one (not ScentSationals Illusion, which is similar but not the same). I like it.

Throw: Medium, 3.5 out of 5

Mahogany & Sandalwood

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Mahogany-and-Sandalwood-Scented-Wax-Melts/150677523

Notes: Warm mahogany, aromatic birch wood, crisp juniper berry and fresh green balsam shimmer with fragrant herbs, touches of sparkling citrus, and smooth ambered sandalwood, all wrapped around sage and sweet moss

A warm, woodsy, smoky cologne scent with a smidgen of spruce. Fantastic! Looking at the notes, the spruce I smell is probably the juniper and balsam. I don't smell citrus at all. It's very rich, sweet and smoky, and even a little salty. I love this scent, and it lasted for 16 hours (probably would have gone longer if I hadn't removed it).

Throw: Bold, 5 out of 5

Spiced Vanilla Embers

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Spiced-Vanilla-Embers-Scented-Wax-Melts/823625746

Notes: Creamy vanilla, smoked spicy cinnamon, a hint of rich nutmeg and warm incense, sweet clove bud and white jasmine, with warming notes of sandalwood and black musk

A fantastic milky sandalwood with a smoky marshmallow note, sweet tobacco, a hint of patchouli and vanilla, and a smidgen of cinnamon. It also has just a tiny bit of a warm ambery perfumey note, although it's not a perfume or cologne scent. Looking at the notes, it might be the combination of clove and jasmine that I think is sweet tobacco. The scent lasted for 16 hours and probably would have gone longer if I hadn't removed it.

Throw: Strong, 4 out of 5

Woodland Forest Floor duo

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Woodland-Forest-Floor-Duo-Scented-Wax-Melts/876500613

Notes: One side features Fallen Leaves and is a blend of orchard leaves wrapped around a blend of McIntosh apple, fresh rosemary, lavender, oakmoss and smoked vetiver, with creamy amber and autumn woods for comfort. The other side features Green Moss and is a blend of oakmoss, amber and patchouli, infused with a mix of ivy, bergamot, pine, geranium, jasmine and birch to round out the refreshing fragrance.

Green Moss: I have no idea what I'm smelling. It's slightly sweet with maybe a cologne and patchouli, and maybe a hint of herbs in the background. It has a smidgen of a mildewy or moldy note. Kind of boring, not really a fan. And the throw was very mild, around a 2 out of 5.

Fallen Leaves: This smells a lot like Better Homes & Gardens Pumpkin Apple Muffins (a super rich buttery salty caramel corn scent), but it's not the same. This scent is not quite as salty and has an apple note as well as a smidgen of a woodsy note. It smells a lot more like Pumpkin Apple Muffins when melted than it does on cold sniff though. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell most of those notes, really just the apple and woods, and maybe a little of the creamy amber. I really like it, but after 2 hours it started morphing into something kind of bland, waxy and annoying. Throw is strong, 4 out of 5.

I still have not found Warm Velvet Pomegranate (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Warm-Velvet-Pomegranate-Scented-Wax-Melts-4-Pack/960776465) or Woodland Forest Floor duo (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Woodland-Forest-Floor-Duo-Scented-Wax-Melts/876500613), both of which have already shown up at some Walmarts. But if and when I get them, I will add them to this review.

Better Homes & Gardens (Walmart) Wax Melts - Fall 2018

Video

This is a review of most of the new Walmart Better Homes & Gardens scented wax melts Fall 2018 scents. At the time of this review, not all of the new scents had arrived at my Walmart, so this is Part 1 of 2. Part 2 can be found at https://www.scentedwaxmeltreviews.com/2018/09/better-homes-gardens-wax-melts-reviews-fall-2018-2.html.

Apple Cookie Crunch

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Apple-Cookie-Crunch-Scented-Wax-Melts/927982896

Notes: Oatmeal and red apple mixed with warm all spice, grated nutmeg, aromatic cinnamon stick, crushed clove, brown sugar, warm butter and pure vanilla

This is a tart but authentic bakery apple scent, like a green Granny Smith apple turnover. I think I detect a hint of walnut, which can also be bitter. Looking at the scent notes, I do detect a little cinnamon, but no nutmeg or clove. Not sure about the oatmeal. I'm not a fan of this one because although it's a little sweet, I don't care for the tartness. Melted it smells better to me though, still a bit tart but not as much as on cold sniff.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Apple Crisp Tea

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Apple-Crisp-Tea-Scented-Wax-Melts/875815206

Notes: Crisp apple and black tea leaves create a warming and comforting sensation while a touch of cinnamon adds dimension. Sweet accords of fresh pear and apple blossoms infuse the heart and lead into a comforting base of amber, vanilla and sheer musk

Based on the name I thought this was going to be just another apple bakery scent, but it's not. It's quite different from other apple scents I've smelled. It smells like an authentic fresh crisp apple with a floral or even slightly soapy note, but not really perfumey either. It's not the same as the old Better Homes & Gardens Apple Blossom Freesia scent at all. When melted, I guess there is something there that could be considered a tea note, but if I didn't know it was there I wouldn't detect it. I really like this scent.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Caramel Bread Pudding

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Caramel-Bread-Pudding-Scented-Wax-Melts/834518260

Notes: Caramel drizzled over homemade bread and warm butter. Vanilla pudding is blended into the batter. Fresh-baked bread is topped off with grated nutmeg, sweet cinnamon and a hint of dark vanilla essence then sprinkled with brown sugar.

I really like this yummy scent! I smell sweet caramel and rich vanilla, with a smidgen of cinnamon and maybe brown sugar. It's not a salted caramel. I don't really smell bready or buttery notes, but if it's there it's very subtle. Looking at the scent notes, they're accurate!

Throw: Strong, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

First Woodland Frost

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-First-Woodland-Frost-Scented-Wax-Melts/425326068

Notes: Sparkling ozone shimmers with sun-sweetened Bosc pear and touches of golden apple resting upon the aquatic freshness of spearmint, garden mint leaves and soft pear blossom

Ooh, this is a yummy sweet rich sugary pear syrup scent with a warm perfumey note and maybe a fresh ozonic note in the background that keeps it from being too perfumey. There might be just a barely detectable smidgen of mint way in the background that gives this a crisp wintery feel. And I think there might be a hint of green apple that gives it just a smidgen of sourness, but not nearly enough to be annoying. Melted, it's a very rich scent with almost a caramel note, although it's not really a foodie scent. Looking at the scent notes, they're spot on. This is a fantastic scent that I think is going to be a best seller.

The new ScentSationals Celebration Time is also pear-based, but it's a completely different scent. With Celebration Time, the pear is much more subtle and it has more of a sweet warm cashmere perfumey note. First Woodland Frost is definitely pear first, and it also has that ozonic and slightly minty note.

Throw: Strong, 4 out of 5

Golden Sunlit Woods

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Golden-Sunlit-Woods-Scented-Wax-Melts/801688205

Notes: Blending white woods, vanilla and warm musk with crisp accents of mandarin, cardamom and golden apple create this captivating scent. Blooming floral heart of jasmine blossoms, freesia, cyclamen and cedar leaf adds tranquility.

A nice sweet warm ambery perfumey scent with rich vanilla, a little bit of a cologney note, a tiny bit of an ozonic note, and maybe a barely detectable smidgen of fruit and wood. The scent started dissipating within about 2 hours.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Lemon Pumpkin Shortbread

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Lemon-Pumpkin-Shortbread-Scented-Wax-Melts/973191208

Notes: Spiced pumpkin puree stirred with lemon and ginger zest then infused with buttery shortbread and baked with cinnamon and black clove, accented with vanilla bean and topped with lemon drizzle icing

Someone said it smells like a cross between Better Homes & Gardens Orange Buttercream Cupcake and popcorn. I thought based on that, that it might be a dupe of Better Homes & Gardens Candied Citrus Pumpkin from 2016, but it's not. It definitely smells like Orange Buttercream Cupcake (a fake but yummy orange Fruit Loops cereal type scent), but with a lemony note and a rich slightly salty note with a hint of nutmeg to give it just a smidgen of pumpkininess. Looking at the scent notes, I think I do detect a smidgen of ginger, not really shortbread although there may be a hint of bakery, and I don't smell cinnamon or clove. Melted, it just smells like a rich, lemony, slightly salty version of Orange Buttercream Cupcake, and I think it might end up being just as popular!

Throw: Bold, 5 out of 5

Pumpkin Honey Butter

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Pumpkin-Honey-Butter-Scented-Wax-Melts/643189893

Notes: Sweet and warm all spice fragrances, stirred with pumpkin butter and honey with spices of clove bud, nutmeg and cinnamon. Tonka bean and vanilla cream soothes in the background.

This is weak on cold sniff, so I can't really tell what I'm smelling. It smells kind of like burnt marshmallow. When melted, yes definitely a burnt kind of sweet scent like marshmallow. I'm not sure if I detect honey, but I definitely don't smell pumpkin. It smells slightly like ScentSationals Pumpkin Marshmallow Cream, but with much less scent, and burnt. I'm not a fan.

Throw: Faint, 2 out of 5

Pumpkin Marshmallow Topping

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Pumpkin-Marshmallow-Topping-Scented-Wax-Melts/474100436

Notes: Swirls of pumpkin spice, sweet marshmallow cream, coconut milk and vanilla. Toasted almond, cinnamon sugar and davana add dimension while sweet sugar crystals

I'm sure this is a dupe of an older scent, but I don't know which one. It smells like snowball cookies, which are rich buttery melty shortbread pecan cookies rolled in powdered sugar. I don't smell pumpkin or spices at all, and not even marshmallow. It's a nice rich yummy scent. It smells a lot like the Michael's Ashland brand Winter White Cookies trio from November 2016. It also smells like Better Homes & Gardens Cranberry Cookie Crumble from November 2016. Sniffing PMT and CCC side by side, they're quite similar but not exactly the same. CCC is a little sweeter and richer with a hint of a brown sugar note, while PMT has more of the buttery pecan note and a hint of milkiness.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Pumpkin S'Mores Latte

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Pumpkin-Smores-Latte-Scented-Wax-Melts/970002718

Notes: Warm pumpkin puree, toasted marshmallow, graham cracker accord and milk latte. Sweet cinnamon & shaved nutmeg infuses flavor while whipped vanilla creme adds the perfect finishing touch

Why so many marshmallowy scents this season? Pumpkin Honey Butter, Pumpkin Marshmallow Topping, and Pumpkin S'Mores Latte all smell similar to each other. This one smells like graham crackers and marshmallows with possibly a smidgen of cinnamon. I don't smell coffee at all, or even pumpkin. Maybe a hint of apple? This one also has a tiny bit of that burnt note like Pumpkin Honey Butter, but much more subtle, so it must be the marshmallow causing that. Looking at the scent notes, no apple.

Throw: Medium, 3.5 out of 5

Sunlit Meadow Trail

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Sunlit-Meadow-Trail-Scented-Wax-Melts/737317382

Notes: White mahogany, aromatic birch wood, crisp juniper berry and fresh green balsam shimmer with fragrant herbs, touches of sparkling citrus, green moss, and smooth ambered sandalwood

This smells just like a nice shampoo, body wash, or air freshener. It's fresh with a slightly salty ozonic note, a hint of a soapy and maybe peppery note, a smidgen of floral, and possibly a smidgen of apple or apple blossom. But although it's a little sweet it's not perfumey. This is a perfect scent for the bathroom, and I really like it.

Throw: Strong, 4 out of 5

Sweet Blackberry Bourbon

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-2-5-oz-Sweet-Blackberry-Bourbon-Scented-Wax-Melts/184238524

Notes: Sweet and tart blends infusing blackberry and pumpkin with red currant, davana, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove. Sandalwood, aged oak barrel and a touch of vanilla bean adds the perfect balance. But the candle notes are blackberry, red currant, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, sandalwood, oak, and vanilla make up this sweet, fruity, and slightly herbaceous scent

This smells like mulberry and cinnamon, and maybe a bit of cranberry. It's not a "bourbon" or alcohol type of scent, and not even blackberry. It's a little sweet, and it's quite cinnamony. Definitely a holiday scent. I believe it's a dupe of a holiday scent from 2014 or 2015 (I forget the name). This one took over 2 hours to throw fairly well. For the first 2 hours or so, throw was very mild and I could barely smell it.

Throw: Medium, 3.5 out of 5

These are the scents I'm still waiting for, and will review them  as well:
  • Chilled Pomegranate Wine
  • Mahogany & Sandalwood
  • Warm Velvet Pomegranate
  • Spiced Vanilla Embers
  • Aloha Pineapple Pumpkin
  • Dark Midnight Skies
  • Woodland Forest Floor duo - Fallen Leaves & Green Moss

These 2 scents will probably arrive in November:
  • Creamy Marshmallow Cocoa ("Holiday Edition")
  • Warm Fireside Flurries

I'm not sure if these 2 scents will be available in wax melts, or just candles:
  • All Things Nice
  • Vermont White Spruce
  • Lavender & Freesia
  • Country Gingerbread Cookie

Better Homes & Gardens Aromatherapy Wax Melts Reviews - February 2018

Better Homes & Gardens Aromatherapy Wax Melts Reviews - February 2018

Better Homes & Gardens Aromatherapy Wax Melts - February 2018

 Video

These Better Homes & Gardens Aromatherapy Wax Melts are part of a brand new line of aromatherapy products at Walmart which includes candles, wax melts, and scented oils. They're infused with real essential oils. The wax melts are $2.00 each, same as other Walmart wax melts, and the only scent notes are those shown in the scent name. I really liked these scents. They are relaxing, spa type scents, most of which are unique and different from any other wax melt scents I've smelled.

Blackcurrant & Bay

This smells a lot like Better Homes & Gardens Savory Blackberry Cobbler from 2016 (I reviewed it at http://www.scentedwaxmeltreviews.com/2016/02/better-homes-gardens-scented-wax-melts-spring-2016.html), but it's not the same scent as there are no bakery note. This is not a sweet scent at all. It's quite savory and a little sour. I do smell the currant berry note, but this is not a fruity scent. It's really hard to describe. There's a strong herbal note, kind of like oregano but not that savory.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 to 4 out of 5

Geranium & Patchouli

This is the same scent as the old discontinued ScentSationals Black Pepper & Rosemary, a fantastic herbal men's cologne Irish Spring type scent.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Lavender & Vanilla

On cold sniff this smells like a combination of baby powder and milk, and smells a lot like an old discontinued baby powder and baby cream from Crabtree & Evelyn called Tom Kitten, a very nice baby powder/milk scent. But I can also smell the authentic lavender, which comes out a bit more when melted. A fantastic relaxing scent that's perfect for a baby's room. Someone said this smells exactly like Bath & Body Works Lavender & Vanilla candle, which I have never smelled, but I've smelled dupes of that scent and this smells nothing like that. What do you think?

Throw: Faint, 2 out of 5

Lemongrass & Ginger

I nice spa lemon scent with a slightly savory lemongrass/lemon verbena note, and a smidgen of a slightly soapy ginger note. It's not a sweet scent, and it's completely different from the Vetiver & Lemon scent.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Lime & Eucalyptus

This smells like ScentSationals Zen, but when I smell them side by side, they're different. They both have that very subtle spearminty note. But Zen also has a hint of a sweet laundry note, while Lime & Eucalyptus has a hint of a lemon verbena note. But they're both so similar to each other that it's hard to tell the difference when they're melting.

Throw: Strong, 4 out of 5

Orange & Cedarwood

When I first smelled this I thought it smelled like ScentSationals Molten Orange, and it does have some similarities, but this scent is not as orangey or sweet. It also smelled a lot like the old Better Homes & Gardens Valencia Blood Orange, which was an intense almost savory orange scent, more savory than Molten Orange, and a bit similar to satsuma. But this is not exactly the same as that scent either. This is like a combination of Valencia Blood Orange with a slightly soapy, slightly woodsy note. It's kind of savory, and only very slightly sweet.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Rosemary & Spearmint

This scent is true to its name. It's a strong spearmint scent but not overly sweet like toothpaste, because of the herbal note that smells a little bit like fresh basil. Very nice.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Vetiver & Lemon

I really like this scent. It's weak on cold sniff, but not when melted. I smell lemon with a slightly sweet almost laundry type note, as well as a bland Ivory soap type note, but not in a bad way. But it's not a kitchen lemon type scent, more of kind of a lemon scented laundry scent perhaps, but with some other notes. It's very nice, and not a dupe of any older ScentSationals or Better Homes & Gardens scents that I know of.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Better Homes and Gardens Fragranced Paper Scent Bursts Review

Better Homes and Gardens Fragranced Paper Scent Bursts Review

Better Homes and Gardens Fragranced Paper Scent Bursts
Click photo to enlarge

Watch video below:

Better Homes and Gardens Paper Scent Bursts are an alternative to scented wax melts. They're safe, convenient, and mess-free, and can be used with any electric wax warmer.

Paper scent bursts have been around for several years, and Walmart has carried them for about that long under their Better Homes and Gardens brand. They're actually manufactured by Enviroscent, Inc. (http://www.enviroscent.com). EnviroScent also has their own EnviroScent branded scent bursts which are in a round sphere shaped format rather than loose "beads" (which I will be reviewing in a separate review).

Many Walmarts still do not carry scent bursts, although they can be purchased online at the Walmart website. Candle-Lite company also makes its own version, and other home fragrance companies may offer them as well.

Here's the description of the Better Homes and Gardens Fragranced Paper Scent Bursts from the Walmart website: Scent Bursts are fragranced paper warmer refills made of natural, Recyclable Paper infused with pure fragrance. They contain no wax, which means there isn't any wax mess to clean up. With its patented delivery system, Scent Bursts fragrance fast, last long and deliver a higher quality fragrance with even character over time. Enjoy your favorite Better Homes and Gardens fragrance in a whole new way. Scent Bursts can be used with any electric wax melt warmer. They are safe, simple and convenient and they are the mess-free way to fragrance your home. You can mix and match to create your own fragrance.

Instructions (from package): Pour 1/3 of packet into any electric wax warmer. Turn on the unit and enjoy the immediate scent. To refresh or change the scent, simply toss out the Scent Bursts in trash or recycling bin and refill with new. Warmer stays clean and residue free. Do not use in tea light warmers. Do not mix with wax melts or candles. May catch fire if exposed to open flames.

I finally found these at one of my local Walmarts last weekend, the first time I've ever seen them in my area. They had all of the standard Better Homes and Gardens scents that are or have been available in scented wax melts. In general, here's what I found:

PROS
  • They're definitely more convenient than wax. Just cut open the bag and pour some into the warming tray. There's no greasy wax to touch.
  • Cleanup is where these bursts really shine. Wax can be challenging to get out of the warmer. If the wax is still liquid you can get burned, or it can spill and leave a mess. You have to either dump the liquid wax into the trash and wipe out the remaining wax from the warmer, or use a cotton ball or paper towel to soak up the liquid wax. If the wax has already dried, you either have to warm it back up a bit to loosen it, or put the warming tray in the freezer so it pops out more easily, or pry it out with a butter knife. But with these paper scent bursts, when you're done and the scent has dissipated or you want to try a different scent, simply dump the bursts into the trash or recycling container, and that's it. Nothing left to wipe up.
  • They're better in high traffic areas. If a warmer gets knocked over and it contains melted wax, wax can spill everywhere, and it's very difficult to remove from floors and walls and upholstery and clothing. But if the warmer contains scent bursts, simply sweep or vacuum up.
  • They're made of paper, with no wax at all, so they only get a little warm to the touch but not warm enough to burn you.
  • You can start smelling the scent more quickly than wax, pretty much as soon as you turn on the warmer and it starts to warm up, within 5 minutes. With wax, it can take 10 to 20 minutes for the wax to melt after the warmer is turned on (depending on the type of wax and the wattage of the warmer).
  • You can also use these as potpourri. I poured 1/3 of the bag into a warming tray but did not turn the warmer on. In a small to medium room, I could smell the scent, and it was fairly strong. In the bathroom it was extremely strong, and again, with the warmer not turned on.
  • Since they can be used as potpourri, they can also be used in your car. I put the warming tray in the console of my car (again, just the tray, nothing plugged in). After 10 minutes I opened the car door and the scent was quite strong. I tried it again on a sunny day, and the scent was so strong that it wafted out to my driveway! It seems like these bursts are very sensitive to heat, so even a small amount of warmth will get the scent going, but even without heat, the scent throws fairly well in a small area. If you're going to use these in the car, you'd want to enclose them somehow so they don’t spill out, perhaps in a piece of hosiery or cheesecloth, something that has tiny holes to allow the scent to go through but won't allow the small rice-sized pieces to fall out. And because they contain dye that can stain, you want to put something between the bursts and the surface you're putting them on.

CONS
  • They're considerably more expensive than scented wax melts. Standard sized scented wax melts are about 2.5 oz. and cost $2.00 at Walmart (which is $0.80 per ounce). You can use 1 cube each time, and there are 6 cubes in a pack. But I paid $2.97 for a 1.41 oz. pack of the paper scent bursts (which works out to $2.11 per ounce, which is $5.27 for 2.5 ounces). Instructions say to use 1/3 of the pack each time (which is sufficient for covering the bottom of the wax tray). So you only get 3 uses out of the pack.
  • There's also a bit of a safety issue in that, because they're made of paper, they can catch fire if exposed to open flame. So if your warmer shorts out and catches fire (which is not common at all, but it can happen), these scent bursts can go up in flames, whereas wax would not.

I bought 4 scents: Orange Buttercream Cupcake, Vanilla Cookie Crunch, Brownie Pecan Pie, and French Lilac Flowers. These particular scents are typically very strong throwers in the wax melts. I didn't want to buy too many scents, as I've heard from many people in our Scented Wax Melts Retail Store Bought Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/scentedwaxretail/) who have tried them, that they don't throw as well as wax.

Orange Buttercream Cupcake
This is a sweet orange confection scent that many have said smells like Fruit Loops cereal. It's a strong super rich citrusy orange with a vanilla cake and buttercream note. The wax in this scent is a "scent monster" that takes over the entire house, and so do the paper scent bursts. Fantastic scent and throw!

Vanilla Cookie Crunch
Fantastic rich sweet vanilla cookie scent with a hint of nut. The paper scent bursts in this scent have an alcohol note when you open the bag, but I don't smell that when it's melting. The wax in this scent has a good throw, but not excellent. And the paper scent bursts were about the same, good throw but not excellent, and would be best for a small to medium sized room.

Brownie Pecan Pie
This is a top 10 favorite scent of mine, with chocolate, caramel, nut and coconut notes, like a super rich German chocolate cake. The paper scent bursts in this scent have an alcohol note when you open the bag, but I don't smell that when it's melting. The wax in this scent is a "scent monster" that takes over the entire house, and so do the paper scent bursts. Fantastic scent and throw!

French Lilac Flowers
This is one of my favorite lilac scents, a strong sweet perfumey lilac. The wax in this scent is a "scent monster" that takes over the entire house and lasts for at least a day. I was pleasantly surprised that the scent bursts version is also a scent monster!

Watch video below:

This is a review of the Better Homes & Gardens Scented Wax Melts new Spring 2017 scents at Walmart. This review is a little different from past reviews in that I've included comments that members of the Scented Wax Melts Retail Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/scentedwaxretail) left about each scent. You can easily see the scents that are the most popular! Everyone has different opinions, so the best thing to do is to go to Walmart, sniff the wax and buy it if you like how it smells. Remember that a lot of variables can affect throw (how far the scent "throws" in the room when you're melting it).

UPDATE - On May 7, 2017 I was able to find the scent notes for some of these scents from the Walmart website, and have added them below.

Bamboo & Lily Blossom

This smells like aloe, which is a cucumber type scent with a fresh water note. There's also maybe a smidgeon of floral way in the background (I guess that's the musk), although this is not a sweet scent at all. Not one of my favorites. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Notes:
Tranquil lily and the watery freshness of lotus reveals elements of green bamboo dappled with citrus sunlight and luminous marines, over aquatic musk and smooth woods

What people are saying:

"I didn't care for this one at all. I didn't purchase it. But I do think the packaging is pretty."

"Smells better warmed!"

"On cold I didn't get much of anything."

"It had a medium throw from one cube in the plug in. It smells spa like.. I do smell a little bamboo.. but a little more floral."

"Something is turning me off from this scent. It's strong which is good. But I'm returning my unopened one."

Blue Coconut Waters

Coconut with a sweet tropical fruit note and a fresh watery note in the background. There's a very slight sour note way in the background that has a little bit of a chemical or vinyl note. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Chilled Cherry Limeade

Crazy strong on cold sniff. Smells like cherry with a smidgeon of tart sweet bitter lime, although it's mostly a cherry scent and it's not very tart. It's not an authentic fruit scent, more like a cherry flavored drink. This one is a fantastic, happy summer scent that's already a favorite among wax lovers who have tried it (including myself). Kids will love this one too. This was a scent monster that took over the entire house, 5 out of 5 throw. And it lasted the entire day (at least 8 hours).

Notes:
Bold, sun-ripened cherry, juicy blackberry and glistening red currant swirl with tangy lime zest, tart lemon and a hint of refreshing grapefruit

What people are saying:

"The Cherry Limeade smelled amazing!! Eeeek! I can't wait to buy more lol!"

"Smells like a cherry slushee type of drink. I don't get lime on cold. It's pretty strong on cold!"

"It's really good! & Super Strong too!"

"Cherry limeade is my favorite so far!"

"The cherry limeade candle smells AMAZING and performs very well."

"Cherry Limeade is my favorite with Mango Creampop a close second."

"OMG! That's my favorite fragrances out of all of the ones I purchased today and let me tell you that it's super strong on cold sniff!"

"Still going at 10 hrs"

"It's mouth-watering!"

"Smells just like Cherry Limeade, super fizzy scent. Throw is about a 3.5/5."

"It smells like Luden's cough drops to me. Liked it at first but the cough drops smell annoyed me after an hour or so."

"LOVE this one!"

"I wish there was more lime in this wax melt to give it a tartness."

"I am so in love with Cherry Limeade!!"

"Today I melted Cherry Limeade in the kitchen and foyer and WOW is it good! Smells great, had a strong throw and was still going when I turned it off at the 10 hour mark, though it was weaker at about 8 hrs. This one is a winner for me!"

"Ick, ick, ick. It just smelled gross to me in store. Cherry scents do it to me everytime."

"I think it's a fun smell. It's light refreshing remind me of Summer. And it throws and burns a thousand times better than Yankee's"

"I did buy the candle in this sent and I have to say it had 10 times more throw than the Yankee Cherry :imeade I got last year which had 0 throw I was so disappointed."

"Smelled it on cold, bought two packs, didn't melt them yet, but I'm sure, according to the scent on cold, that it'll be one of my favorites of the Spring scents..."

"I love the smell... I think it smells like Ludens cough drops... You know, the ones that don't actually taste like a cough drop or help your cough but taste good. Lol"

"I love it! I've got 3 packs so far. It reminds me of Yankee's Cherry Lemonade; another favorite of mine. Think I'll invest in a jar of this."

"I purchased the jar first in this sent and burned it for two nights it burnt very well and the throw was actually very good I'd say a 3.75 or 4 out of the 5."

"Love this one. Great scent, strong throw and lasted a looong time. Went back and bought 8 more packs."

"Cherry Limeade going right now, I love it!! So far it's kicking butt!"

"Cherry Limeade was strong and lasted a long time for me - about 10 hrs."

Georgia Peach Tea

Although this is a fantastic scent, it does not smell like tea. It smells like a luxurious body cream with a hint of peach and a barely noticeable smidgeon of lemon, and a fig note that makes scents smell classy, and a very slight soapy note. I think it's the fig note that makes gives this scent a very slight ScentSationals Blackberry Cider or Scentsy Luna note. But looking at the scent notes, there's no fig or any perfumey notes! It does have a slight perfumey scent though, but it's not overly sweet. There's also a creamy richness, and a little bit of a foody quality. I love this scent! Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5, but it took a while to get there. At first there was no throw and I was disappointed, but after about a half hour I started smelling it, and within 45 minutes it was fairly strong. Although throw was very good, the scent itself is subtle, and I don't think the scent is meant to be very strong.

Notes:
This refreshing scent mingles sun ripe apricots with sweet sun tea infused with sweet Georgia peach and juicy orange.

What people are saying:

"The throw was awesome in my 24w warmer but I didn't like the scent very much. I had high hopes for that one."

"This had a very light throw. And I got more of a ginger scent rather peach or tea"

"I didn't think it smelled like tea either, but I did like the smell. I just didn't get it because the scent was extremely light for me on cold."

"I barely got any throw and the little throw it did have only lasted for a couple hours max."

"Maybe it's my Southern heart, but I totally got peach tea on cold sniff on this one. I'm very sensitive to the smell of peaches and don't like it much so I didn't get it. Maybe it's different in the warmer?"

"I melted this one today and love it! It didn't have a lot of throw, but enough for my bathroom. I thought I detected a tea scent, but maybe it was just a relaxing note that tea scents do for me?"

"I melted it in a 24 watt and tried a tea light warmer. And I still didn't get a throw."

"I've heard light throw from a lot of people. But its been the opposite for me! Great throw...fills up the whole house. Bad batch maybe?"

"I have it in my bedroom too where I actually like it a bit lighter so it's perfect. But you're right. The throw is low."

"I love this scent but sadly I got almost no throw from it either."

"My new favorite for this week is Sunset Island and Peach Tea. They both have a perfume scent which I love in my wax and candles. I have the peach tea melting in my bedroom. I love it but I like the sunset island better. It's so weird on cold I like peach tea best but melting I like the sunset best. I'm just very fussy about my scents"

"Wow this is so disappointing. I'm melting this in a 24 watt warmer in my bedroom and I can still barely smell it."

Habanero Mango Salsa

Similar to the old ScentSationals Mango Salsa but not as intense. This scent has a bit more of the fruity notes and less of the savory cilantro salsa notes. It's like a fruity scent (red fruits and a smidgeon of a tropical fruit which is probably the mango) with a smidgeon of pepper, but not enough pepper to be a savory scent. Throw was not good, around a 2 out of 5.

Notes:
Sweet, spicy blend of mango salsa and habanero peppers. Mandarin, juicy orange and cinnamon lead add further zest while sugared starfruit and vanilla beans provide balance.

What people are saying:

"Honestly it doesn't have much fragrance on cold sniff, it's kind of weak and I don't get much mango or habanero, but the notes sounded interesting enough to at least try it and see if it's better in the warmer."

"Ok I'm not impressed with this one, I had high hopes. It's so weak! I get the faintest whiff of mango and a spicy scent that doesn't remind me of habanero really."

"Can't wait to melt this one. On cold I definitely pickup a"chili"scent. I think it will be interesting for sure."

"I felt disappointed in this one, it was very weak. I got just barely a hint of mango when I was right next to the warmer."

"Sniffing this in the store I could barely smell anything. I like the packaging, very eye catching but on cold sniff it just wasnt strong enough to justify purchasing, especially since I had so many others I wanted."

"The cilantro note turned me off. I just can't."

"This is the one new scent out that I didn't care.. too savory like you said.. plus the throw was almost non-existent."

Island Coconut Lime

A fresh watery coconut scent with just a smidgeon of a lime note. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Notes:
Freshly fallen, cracked coconut fruit blended with the zesty brightness of island lime fused with sweet sugarcane and a hint of vanilla

What people are saying:

"Smells like a Coconut with a splash of lime. Pretty strong on cold!"

"LOVE this one soooo much! Lime with coconut is what I got. Can't rate the throw yet. The first time I couldn't believe how awesome the throw was, but the next time, it was just medium. Have to melt a 3rd to see which time my nose was accurate"

"Smells like lime with coconut. It throws about medium for me."

"This coconut lime is what I'm most excited for in a melt. It's my #1 scent of time, I love stocked up in years past from Yankee and woodwick so seeing an affordable brand put this out has me estatic!"

"The Coconut Lime is probably my favorite."

Malibu Mango Melon

I smell watermelon first, then the sweet tropical fruit note of the mango. I'm not a fan of watermelon scents in general, but the added mango makes this one a bit more "full bodied" than just a typical watermelon scent. Throw was excellent, around a 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Notes:
Indulgent blend of Malibu melon and exotic mango enriched with pink papaya, sugared honeydew and salted pineapple water. Coconut milk and Hawaiian sugar cane add a luscious finish.

What people are saying:

"Today I melted Malibu Mango. I thought it smelled very, very similar to Sugared Melon Kiwi - a scent I don't like so I didn't like this one. But for those who like SMK you'll like this one. It was medium throw. Don't know it's staying power since I dumped it after a couple hours."

"2nd place for worst new scent."

Maui Beach Waves

I smell coconut and fresh water with a slight aloe/cucumber note that smells a little bit waxy. There may be a fruity note way in the background but barely noticeable. Yep, the fruit is the "island nectars" in the scent notes. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Notes:
Calming turquoise waters flow over the tropical sweetness of sparkling island nectars, the aquatic green freshness of dune grass, amber sands and a touch of sun-warmed driftwood.

What people are saying:

"It smells just like the splash side of by the pool duo."

Peaches and Cream

This smells like peaches with a rich creamy background. It's not overly sweet, and it's not a fake peach scent either. It smells almost exactly like last year's Mainstays Peach & Mango scent. I'm not a fan of peach scents, but this one is very nice because it's not that fake peach room spray type scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell any lemon at all. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Notes:
Sweet summer peach fruit splashed with zesty lemon and sprinkled with white sugar served with freshly whipped heavy cream.

What people are saying:

"Have this going right now. I really like it and the throw is good. I get more cream than peaches."

"I don't even like the smell of peaches but the Peaches and Cream was so creamy I decided to give it a chance."

Salted Pistachio Sorbet

Fantastic salty pistachio scent with a buttery richness in the background. It's not overly sweet, which is good. It also smells like almonds (because pistachios do smell like almonds). It's not a Serendipity scent, which is a common vendor wax scent with notes of almond, cherry, and coconut. I don't detect cherry or coconut in this scent, although some other people have said they do detect those notes. Although when I smelled it again on cold sniff, maybe it does have a smidgeon of cherry and coconut, but if so, it's barely noticeable. This one was a scent monster that took over the entire house, 5 out of 5 throw.

What people are saying:

"I actually smell the salt and I think that is why i am not sold on it. Wish it had more vanilla and a stronger throw. It is just ok"

"Love it! I wish the throw was stronger."

"I LOVE this one sooo much! But wish it had a better throw."

"Dupe of crunchy pistachio vanilla from Yankee candle!!!"

"I love it!"

"LOVE IT."

"I love this one and the throw has been strong for me but I have a small space so I think that makes a difference and I used my 20w hot plate. I get a slightly salty note but I get more of the nutty scent similar to the yankee, which I love. I prefer this type of pistachio versus the overly sweet pistachio."

"I haven't bought this one. I was excited about it, but when I found it in store and sniffed it, it had some underlying funkiness to it that kept me from buying it. Perhaps it will smell differently to me next time."

"I smelled this one in the store and passed. Something about it I didn't like."

"Love it!!!! This was one of the last spring scents to be out at my Walmart I was so happy to have finally found it so I picked up."

"I finally melted it today and OMG! I love it!"

"So, this may have been asked before, but what's your favorite new spring scent? Mine is definitely salted pistachio sorbet. I passed it up a few times, but decided to take a chance and I'm so glad I did."

"I passed it up about three times! Everyone on here kept talking about how great it was and finally I decided to try it myself and I am so happy I did. I usually am only a fan of more"fruity"type scents but lately I've been leaving my scent comfort zone and so far I love it!"

"I'm in love with the pistachio!!"

"Salted pistachio sorbet, l got 11 of them. I love it."

"After passing up Salted Pistachio Sorbet a few times I decided to try it because everyone here says its amazing. Melted it last night and I love it!"

"I got all of the Pistachio that they had left lol."

"My 4 year old picked out the pistachio one to melt first. I hope it smells as good melted as it does on cold. Never thought I'd like a pistachio scent, but it smells so yummy."

"Well, my 4 year old says the pistachio sorbet smells like cherry pie. Lol I do smell something that smells like cherry, but I get no pie. I'm not sure what it smells like, but it's really, really good. I'm definitely getting more."

"Totally agree about the cherry note, but from what I've heard thats common with Pistachio scents!"

"I couldn't place what the pistachio one smelled like either but it does smell really good on cold. I'm not a huge fan of cherry stuff, but it has a sweet note to it!"

"it's really good"

"That was exactly how I felt about the Pistachio one- I never considered that I'd like it as a scent note in wax but I am so into it! I open the clamshell & smell it everytime I walk past the shelf that I keep my wax on lol!"

"The pistachio one smells like Serendipity ,that is a vendor scent. It is a favorite of mine."

"I can't decide which one is my favorite, but I'm loving the Fruit Medley and Salted Pistachio Sorbet."

"Salted pistachio sorbet is my favorite."

"I really liked it on cold and I melted it this evening. Smells wonderful without being overbearing."

"Pistachio sorbet I was so excited, BUT....NO!!"

"It smells too similar to something else."

"I love it. It reminds me of the scent Serendipity. Cherry and coconut."

"I tried smelled Pistachio Sorbet today and it was just ok. I didn't get it but I probably will try it at some point"

"I smelled that one today and didn't like it at all."

"Pistachio Gelato. The bomb."

"I think this is a scent like Himalayan pink sea salt your either going to love it or hate it. I have not melted mine yet but bought 2 I like the cold smell."

"The pistachio is my favorite. I am going to stock up on it."

"I wanted to love Pistachio Sorbet, but I'll have to sniff it again next time I go, today it smelled like popcorn or corn chips or something, so I didn't buy it."

"I didn't care for it. I will try it again, tho bc I did try so many tht day and I think my nose gets confused."

"Amazing"

"Love this one!"

"Think that's the best one."

"It sure is amazing! I melted it for the first time today and I love it!"

"Love this one."

"Omg! This might be my favorite ever..."

"It is my favorite,I got a whole sleeve of them."

"My absolute favorite!"

Salt Water Driftwood

This smells like strong men's cologne mixed with a warm floral like honeysuckle, with a slight note of light wood like sandalwood, and a little bit of a salty ocean note.  It smells better on cold sniff than melted though. Melted, there's a note I can't figure out, maybe a tropical note, or an intense green natural or floral scent although this is not overly sweet, or a really old perfume note. I don't know if I like this one or not. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Notes:
This fresh ozonic, woody fragrance pairs coarse sea salt, bergamot waters and amber waves with ocean driftwood and indigo cedar while Mediterranean lavender, sand pine and beach birch swirl in the heart.

What people are saying:

"I like it."

"Smells like the vinyl lining of a pool."

"I like this. Not extremely strong (which I like) very clean-- spa like?"

"Why am I smelling sweet cow manure?"

"Love this one so fresh!"

Sea Spray Linen

I love this scent! It smells like ScentSationals Fresh Air mixed with a fabric softener scent. It's primarily a laundry scent, so it has a soapy note, but it's also fresh and watery with a slight floral note and maybe a smidgeon of some kind of fruit way in the background but barely noticeable if it's there at all (there's no fruit in the scent notes). Even if you don't like laundry scents, you'll probably like this one because it's not a biting detergent type scent. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Notes:
Nuances of tropical sea spray, salt water and fresh ozone wash into sun bleached linen in this irresistibly clean, fresh scent. Beach flower, warm sandalwood and vanilla sands transports you to your favorite summertime beach.

What people are saying:

"Sea spray smells sooo good. It's a very clean perfumey scent."

"This one isn't bad, if you like clean type scents. Throw is about a 4/5 for me. It smells like a clean laundry detergent to me."

"I'm not a fan of Line Dried Linen (don't throw tomatoes at me please)! It's just too strong or ..... something. BUT I really like the Sea Spray Linen a LOT! Have been melting in main bath and laundry room."

"Sea Spray has to be one of my all time favorites! It is VERY strong and lasts for days on 1 cube."

"I have it in a wall warmer in the bathroom. 1 cube and it's still throwing on day 4/5. Love it and it's strong. Amazing for 1 cube!"

"I think I'm going to love it!! On cold it smells like Line Dried Linen with a beachy twist! It smells like it's going to be super strong too! Can't wait to melt it!"

"Good throw but it smells a little medicinal (or some"off"smell) after a while to me"

"To me this smells almost exactly like April Showers from Yankee Candle. I didn't pick it up so I couldn't smell them side by side but I think April Showers has a slight lemon note that this one doesn't have."

"I have this melting now and really enjoy it! It definitely has a summer feel to it in my opinion.

Sliced Apple Cinnamon

A nice, but typical, sweet cinnamon apple scent. It smells like the inside of an apple pie (without the bakery notes). This is a new "core" scent that's going to be available year-round. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5. I was surprised this one did not have excellent throw, or wasn't a "scent monster", as it's very strong on cold sniff.

Notes:
The classic scent of sweet orchard apple and sugar-dusted pear warmed with spicy shimmers of grated cinnamon, golden nutmeg, and brandy-steeped clove

Smoked Coconut Palm

I love this scent! It's coconut with a palm note, which is a woodsy nutty type scent. It has a strong milky buttery note. Throw was fair, around a 2.5 or maybe even a 3 out of 5, although I think the scent itself is mild.

Notes:
Warming notes of smoked coconut and toasted palm leaves with sweet accords of sugared pineapple and sugarcane

What people are saying:

"I LOVE this one! I smell coconut and a woody/smoky note. It doesn't smell like spring/summer to me but it also doesn't smell like fall/winter, either. To me, it's an anytime scent and I'm definitely stocking up."

Summer Fruit Medley

This smells a lot like the old ScentSationals Rainbow Fruit scent, but with more grapefruit and lemon. I smell grapefruit and orange first, with a salty lemon note, but I also smell a hint of red berries like strawberries. The label shows oranges, lemons, grapefruits, limes, kiwi, strawberries, and blackberries. Fantastic scent!  Throw was 5 out of 5, a scent monster that takes over the entire house. And the scent lasted 12 hours!

What people are saying:

"I havent gotten to melt it yet, but on cold it is SUPER strong. I feel like the name sounds familiar so I thought it was an old scent coming back, but I don't remember a fruit scent like this that was as strong as this on cold."

"I can't decide which one is my favorite, but I'm loving the Fruit Medley and Salted Pistachio Sorbet."

"Didn't care for the grapefruit note in this. Found it sour."

"I like the smell on cold but warmed the citrus really comes out but it has a off putting under tone in it I cant place. Like a medicinal undertone. I only have it on 1 warmer not sure I would repurchase this one."

"I think that"medicinal"note you're smelling is the grapefruit, which is bitter. I also detect a lemon note which, mixed with the other fruit notes, is a little sour. Although this is not a top 10 favorite for me, I really like it.

"I wish they would have mixed in a berry scent. If the label shows a variety of fruit you would hope the scent reflects that."

"Just got this one...smells really nice. It smells punch-ish to me, but there's definitely more of one fruit that's sort of dominating... mango maybe? Or guava? Something I'm not super familiar with lol."

"With two cubes ScentSationals Hello Sunshine and Fruit Medley were almost overpowering in the most wonderful way."

"I have two cubes of this in right now. Super strong, very bright. I definitely catch that grapefruit bitterness but it works well for me. It's weird because I usually avoid grapefruit type scents, but I have been all about this Fruit Medley and ScentSationals Hello Sunshine, both which seem heavy with the grapefruit/citrus notes."

"It is definitely grapefruit, and tart. I love it but can see where this is one that may not be popular for most. It has excellent throw and lasts a really long time too."

"This one has a grapefruit note (to my nose). It also has great throw and lasts a longggg time. I love it!"

"Very strong throw. I like it."

"I like it, but had to turn off the melter after about an hour. Too strong for me!"

Sunset Island Sands

A lovely warm rich perfumey scent. I can't figure out the notes, but I've smelled it before. I don't detect any tropical notes.  Maybe a smidgeon of lemon, although barely noticeable. No lemon or tropical notes at all when melted, just a nice warm perfumey scent. For some reason this one took forever to melt. One cube took almost an hour to melt completely! Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Notes:
Pineapple, mango and guava with tropical florals, warm undertones and precious blonde woods

What people are saying:

"Have it in the Bathroom, love the smell!"

"I wish this one threw better! It had a slight perfume vibe, but without that artificial sharpness I dislike about perfume-y waxes. Very creamy and nice but dark and musky too."

"On cold this smelled exactly like Bath and Body Works Endless Weekend to me (which is one of my favorite summer scents)."

"I don't get any tropical notes but def a rich perfumey scent."

"Yes! I sniffed that yesterday and it was wonderful! Drives me nuts that I can't find the scent notes anywhere online! Does anyone know what they are in this one?"

"I'm finding this one is a dupe for Goose Creek Candle Sunset Sparkle.. nice scent for sure!"

I'm just very fussy about my scents."

"Took mine a long time to melt. Reminds me of Caress soap. Lovely scent and quite a good throw but not overpowering which I love. Filled up my whole apartment without being too strong near the warmer. I'll be buying more of these. They're already sold out at my Walmart."

"My hubby picked this one out, and I melted it last night, but I'm not a big fan. It definitely reminds me of something else I've melted that I also didn't like, but I can't remember which."

"This one reminds me of ScentSationals Dazzling Sky Duo. Not an exact dup but similar."

"I just got this one yesterday too and I love it on cold but haven't melted it yet. I'd love to know the scent descriptions."

"This scent right here is my current obsession. I've been burning it for about 8 hours and it's still going strong."

Sweet Watermelon Buttercream

I smell the sweet vanilla buttercream primarily, but I do detect the slight watermelon note in the background. It comes through as a slightly bitter note, but not strong enough to detract from the buttercream scent. It's an "okay" scent. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Notes:
A flavorful blend of sweet watermelon, honeydew and strawberry leaf gives way to a delicious heart of whipped butter cream and sugared peony. Vanilla bean and sugared musk create a delectable finish worth celebrating.

What people are saying:

"Smells just as the name states, a very sweet, candied watermelon, with a sweet frosting note. Pretty strong on cold!"

"I have watermelon buttercream going and I'm loving it! It has a really good throw."

"Omg it's sweet deliciousness! It smells like a piece of watermelon cake. More sweet then fruity!"

"YUM!!!"

"The watermelon buttercream smells really good. It's not like a tart watermelon it's more of a bakery watermelon."

"Tried watermelon buttercream and couldn't detect much scent. Has anyone else tried this one?"

"I just bought it tonight. On cold I could detect both melon and buttercream. I'll let ya know when I melt mine."

"Mine was super strong. I turned it off hours ago and still can smell all through the house."

"Smelled too weak to me on cold sniff to purchase."

"Even my husband even said he couldn't really smell it. It's a faint sweet smell..that's about it."

"Mine was super duper strong in my mainstays 24 watt warmer."

"If you need me I'll be licking my warmer! On a serious note, this one is really lite and that's disappointing...I was most excited for this one."

"I'm melting mine now. So far so good. It has filled the room but hasn't completely melted yet."

"It wasn't totally weak but less than moderate in my open floor plan."

"I didn't like it either but I don't like watermelon scents anyway so my opinion doesn't matter lol."

"I don't like it not a good one it's my least favorite out of all the ones I got it was the only crappy one."

"I can't wait to burn mine, because it smells so scrumptious cold."

"On cold"Watermelon Buttercream"smelled kind of sweeter than I would like."

"I picked this up last night. I thought it smelled like a watermelon flavored cake on cold sniff."

"I love that one!!"

"With the exception of the Watermelon Buttercream, I LOVE all of these!"

"I thought it smelled too much like cake frosting. Wasn't my thing. I gave it away. I wanted more watermelon. I liked the watermelon scent that is in the new duo Brazilian Riviera Carnival a lot better. Just not my favorite."

"It threw pretty well for me! I love the buttercream undertone to it."

"Didn't care for Watermelon Buttercream at all when I smelled it at the store."

"My husband said it smelled like playdo to him lol so i didnt get it."

"I melted mine all last night and today. I'm going to give it about a 3 to 4 out of 5 on throw. It definitely throws more buttercream than watermelon though but overall I thought it was nice."

"I only smelled sugar so I did what I always do, added lemon!"

"It seemed strong to me but that could be because I absoutely hated the scent and dumped it after an hour. I was hoping for a watermelon candy type scent but what I smelled was a skunky sickening scent. I thought this one would be my favorite out of all the new I bought but so far it's the worst, with Malibu Mango Melon in 2nd place for worst new scent."

"Too sweet and the scent wore off after about two hrs. I was disappointed. It smelled great on cold."

"I liked this one but not enough to repurchase. On cold I get both watermelon and buttercream. When melting I got mostly buttercream, it had a great throw and threw mostly buttercream but only if I was really close to the warmer I could detect the melon."

"It was too weak and did not last long."

"I love this but don't last long at all"

"Agree with the others. It seemed strong at first but the scent wore off quickly."

"Ugh! Hated it!! For me this one was awful! Had a skunky, off-smell to my nose."

"I thought it smelled like play doh"

"I like it but only lasted 2 hours for me. I will purchase more ."

"I melted Watermelon Buttercream in the bedroom, the one I thought would be my favorite, but after an hour I had to turn it off. This one did NOT agree with me. To my nose it had a weird nauseating note to it, kind of a skunky smell."

"that watermelon is my least favorite."

"Melting Sweet Watermelon Buttercream and it's so good!"

"My students told me that the Watermelon one smelled like a wet/moldy mop. :( I quickly turned it off!"

"Wow I love the Watermelon Buttercream I will be stocking up on this one."

"I really do get Watermelon and Buttercream I was so surprised!"

"Smelled too sweet to me"

Tropical Papaya Orchid

A lovely warm ambery perfumey scent with a hint of fig (which makes scents smell rich and classy), and maybe a smidgeon of sweet salty lemon. On cold sniff I thought I detected a tropical fruit note, but I don't smell it when melted. It smells a little like ScentSationals Blackberry Cider. Throw was very good, 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

What people are saying:

"Love!"

"I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I don't usually care for florals but this is a perfect combo of floral/fruity and a bit of perfume. It's my favorite new scent so far."

"Okay why does this smell like sandalwood to me?? Throw is ok, good for my bedroom but wouldn't use it in a big room. I like it...just confused that I'm smelling sandalwood..."

"I love all of these scents with Papaya Orchid being my fave, I'm gonna stock up on it."

"it has a fruity floral scent and it light so u can kick it up with something else. I didn't think it'd be a fave bc of the orchid but it's lovely"

Warm Spring Sunshine

The picture of flowers on the label is misleading, because although this does have a floral note, it's primarily a fruity scent. I smell sweet creamy fruit with a very slight floral note way in the background. On cold sniff the floral note is more easily detected, but I don't really smell it when melted. I think there are several kinds of fruit notes in this one. I smell strawberries and a little bit of pineapple, and maybe even banana and/or peach. Looking at the scent notes, the fruits are apple, peach, and melon. It's a nice, very sweet creamy fruit nectar or fruit candy scent. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Notes:
A fruity mix of Granny Smith apple, white peach and melon. A fresh, floral blend of spring daisy, garden florals and rain water rest on a calming base of sunlit amber and musk.

What people are saying:

"I loved it on cold, but I could barely smell it once melted."

"I put this one in my 13 watt plug-in warmer in my bathroom and it fills the room nicely. It's a citrusy floral."

Whipped Mango Creampop

I smell pineapple and maybe another slightly sour tropical fruit which is probably the mango, but I also smell a little bit of coconut and a smidgeon of a sweet buttercream note in the background. When melted though, I don't smell the buttercream at all, just pineapple with a hint of coconut.  This one was a scent monster, throw of 5 out of 5.

Notes:
This scent mingles mango, sun-kissed orange, tart tangerine, sweet clementine, fresh berries and tropical pineapple into a delicious base of vanilla meringue and cream soda

What people are saying:

"I melted two cubes of this yesterday and it was delightful! Smelled like a sweet, creamy mango."

"I melted this yesterday and I loved it! It smells like a creamy mango and the throw was strong with just 1 cube."

"DUPE alert! To me, this smells just like Bath & Body Works' Sunny Coconut candle from last summer! Which is citrus-like with coconut. Strong on cold!"

"Whoever said this smells like Bath & Body Works Sunny Coconut on cold, it really does!!"

"I've only tried BHG Whipped Mango Creampop & ScentSationals Water Lily & Lotus so far.. Both smelled strong when I first started melting them but within a couple hours they fizzled out :( I was so bummed."

"I have high ceilings and an open-floor plan, but I've still had good luck with throw so far. Mango Creampop was VERY strong for me. I use a 24 W warmer."

"I didn't like whipped mango creampop on cold, and didn't realize until later it was because of the coconut notes lol I'm not a fan of most coconutty stuff."

"I was kinda surprised it's called Whipped"Mango"lol cause I only smell Coconut... Maybe it'll be different when melted?"

"Cherry Limeade is my favorite with Mango Creampop a close second."

"I've melted BHG Whipped Mango Creampop & so far & I completely agree, smelled super strong the first few hours but fizzles out."

"Mmmm, melted Mango Creampops yesterday - So good! I don't know if it was the clamshell photo that had a subconscious effect on me but to me it smelled like an orange creamsicle rather than mango. So yummy! Throw was medium strong but it didn't last as long as Cherry Limeade, which was still going at 10 hrs. This one lasted about 5-6 hrs."

Brazilian Riviera Carnival Duo – Samba Nights & Watermelon Bellini

The Samba Nights side is a rich sweet fruity warm ambery perfumey scent. This smells like it has a fig note in it, which makes scents smell classy. Fantastic scent! Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

I'm not a fan of watermelon scents, but I love The Watermelon Bellini side. It's watermelon with a sweet rich berry, strawberry I think. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

What people are saying:

"It is very light and it don't last long but i still want to hord it cuz when you can smell it it smells amazing."

"This confused the heck out of me. I got fruity for a while then floral. The scent combo didn't work for me."

"Haven't melted this yet but I like it on. I melt a cube from each side either together in one warmer or if I'm my living room one in each warmer."

"I melted just the Samba Nights and couldn't smell much, then I added the Watermelon Bellini and thought it smelled surprisingly like muffins! It was a nice smell but I'm not big into bakery."

"I love this one."

"I can't describe the smell, but I love this one. Both sides."

"I get watermelon and even a little bit of a berry or grape. But I really like it! I just hate that it doesn't last long."

"I'm not sure what Samba nights is. It smells a bit like incense to me."

"OMG, IT smells strong on cold sniff."
