Banana Nut Bread

Notes:  Freshly baked bread, bananas, apricots, walnuts, vanilla, whipped butter, ginger, nutmeg crystals, and clove

Review: Super rich and buttery and banana-ey with a salty nutty note, this one may very well put all other banana bread scents to shame. Comparing this scent with Goose Creek Sweet Banana Bread, they both smell fantastic but I like Hanna's Banana Nut Bread more. And comparing this to Mainstays Banana Nut Bread, there's no comparison at all; the Mainstays version is nice but a bit artificial. This scent and the Wild Berry scent are my favorite scents out of all of these!

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Black Mulberry Tree

Notes:  Sweet mulberry and juicy plum woven with sparkling citrus nuances and a splash of vineyard grape

Review: I smell sweet grape and dark blackberry and a little bit of plum, which makes this scent very rich. It's not an authentic grape scent, but more like grape candy. If you like grape scents, this is a good one.

Throw: Good, around a 3 out of 5

Black Sands

Notes:  Orange, lily, bergamot, jasmine, rosewood, heliotrope, and musk

Review: A sweet super warm scent with strong amber and musk notes, baby powder, and a slight cologne note. There's a nice floral note in there that I can't identify that almost has a foodie quality like vanilla. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell orange at all. The nice floral note that I couldn't identify is most likely the heliotrope, which according to online research, is a "delicious powdery scent that oscillates between marzipan, vanilla, cherry pie and almond (hence its alternative name "cherry pie flower")". Well that explains the baby powder note I'm smelling. But I don't detect any almond. Melted, I smell mostly a warm baby powder note, probably the heliotrope. This is a unique scent and I really like it.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 to 4 out of 5

Cashmere Musk

Notes:  Bergamot, jasmine, sandalwood, iris, vanilla, patchouli, musk and cedar

Review: Fantastic sweet very warm cozy scent, definitely a strong cashmere note (which smells like amber but a bit lighter and more powdery), and maybe a little bit of amber wood. This smells a lot like Glade Cashmere Woods.

Throw: Not good, maybe a 2 or possibly 2.5 out of 5, but would probably do well in a small room

Cedar Box

Notes:  White oak wood, birch, citrus bergamot, florals, musk and cedarwood

Review: This really does smell quite a bit like cedar. It's a sweet light wood scent.

Throw: Scent monster, took over entire house, 5 out of 5 throw

Coconut Milk Mango

Notes:  Sweet creamy coconut milk, pineapple, cilantro, kumquat, and vanilla bean

Review: I'm not a big fan of tropical scents, but I really like this one. I smell coconut and tropical fruit. The fruit is slightly sour (in a good way), and it's a rich scent, probably because of the "creamy coconut milk" note. But what makes me really like this scent is it smells like there's a hint of lemon in there. Which there's not. That combination of coconut with that slightly lemony fruity note is very nice. The "lemon" I think I smell is probably the kumquat, which smells kind of like a pungent sour orange, a bit like satsuma. I don't like pineapple scents, and thankfully I don't smell that note in here, or if it's there, it's tempered by the other notes.

Throw: This is a scent monster that took over the whole house, 5 out of 5 throw!

Crisp Apple

Notes:  Top notes of cinnamon & clove with juicy apple fused with orange zest

Review: This is not a fresh crisp apple scent, but a slightly cinnamony apple scent, like light apple cider or apple juice with a little bit of cinnamon. It's a very nice scent, and not an overly spicy fall apple scent. It's very similar to ScentSationals Cinnamon Apples scent, which smells like walking into a Michael's arts and crafts store in the fall!

Throw: Very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5, but the scent was pretty much gone in 2 hours.

Early Morning Mist

Notes:  Dewy ozone, delicate white florals, and soft cyclamen floating above a breezy background of sheer musk

Review: A fresh air, salty ocean water scent that smells like a lot of other similar scents out there. It's a nice scent, not overly sweet, and smells a bit like a fresh, maybe slightly cologney, body wash.

Throw: Fair, around a 2.5 out of 5

Fresh Cotton Blossom

Notes:  Fresh sparkling aldehydes, lemon water, and cool ozone with fresh laundry accord and muguet (lily of the valley). Driftwood and blue musk add a comforting finish.

Review: Standard laundry scent, more of a fabric softener scent rather than a harsh detergent scent, and not overly sweet.

Throw: Very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Fresh Lavender Garden

Notes:  The sweet, sparkling aroma of Lavender de Provence, jasmine flowers, and rose petals

Review: On cold sniff, I smell a slightly sweet lavender with a hint of herbs in the background. The herbs make it slightly medicinal, but the sweetness tempers that herbal note. Melted, it smells like lavender scented cleaner, but in a good way. It's a fresh clean lavender rather than a sweet powdery lavender. Looking at the scent notes, there are no herbs. The jasmine and rose add the sweetness, although I don't smell jasmine and rose per se.

Throw: Excellent, around a 4 out of 5

Grandma's Apple Basket

Notes:  The crisp and clean scent of freshly sliced Granny Smith apples...this deliciously tart, yet slightly sweet aroma is simply irresistible.

Review: A crisp juicy apple scent with a little sweet caramel, and on cold sniff I detect a smidgeon of wood I think, which I don't smell when melted. Looking at the scent notes, it's not wood I smell, it's the tartness in the scent notes. On cold sniff I don't detect any tartness, but I think I do slightly when melted.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 to 4 out of 5

Honeysuckle Blossom

Notes:  Sweet honeysuckle and a touch of lemon blending effortlessly with a bouquet of orange blossom, yellow freesia, muguet (lily of the valley) and gardenia, sweet musk.

Review: This is not an authentic honeysuckle scent, but more like a sweet honeysuckle perfume, in a good way. It's a fantastic scent. I also detect an orange blossom/neroli note, which is one of my favorite scents, and maybe a smidgeon of honey, although honey is not in the scent notes.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5, and the scent lasted all day

Honeysuckle Vine

Notes:  A sweet floral note that resembles jasmine with a hint of citrus and honey

Review: This is the same as their Honeysuckle Blossom scent, even though they have different notes. I think the Honeysuckle Blossom notes are the correct ones, since I do detect a little bit of orange blossom and gardenia, and just a barely detectable smidgeon of lemon. Although I do detect a smidgeon of honey in both scents, and honey is not listed as a note in the Honeysuckle Blossom scent.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5, and the scent lasted all day

Juicy Apple Pomegranate

Notes:  Granny Smith apples, pear, jasmine, rich woods, and a touch of green herbs

Review: Fresh apple with a sweet rich berry note. No spices. Very nice scent. Looking at the notes, I guess the berry I think I smell is actually the pear. Interestingly, there's no pomegranate note! I don't smell wood at all.

Throw: Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.

Juicy Apricot Jam

Notes:  A true-fruit rendition of juicy apricot embellished with sweet mango nectar and just a hint of creamy coconut

Review: This is a sour but authentic peach scent, more like the fuzzy outside of the peach than the inside. It's a little sweet, but not as sweet as I would have expected based on the name. I didn't think I would like this based on cold sniff, but I really like it. Although it doesn't smell like jam as it's not sweet enough. I don't smell coconut at all.

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Juicy Pear

Notes:  Juicy ripe Anjou pear, tart green apple, white blossom and musk.

Review: This is not what I was expecting. Sometimes pear scents are too bland, or smell too much like apple, or have a bakery or cinnamon note. This smells fantastic, a super sweet pear scent. It actually smells a bit like sweet banana. There are no bakery or spicy notes, which is good. It smells like there might be a smidgeon of floral in the background. Ah, the notes include white blossom and musk, so combined with the pear that's probably why I'm smelling a really sweet almost candy-like banana.

Throw: Excellent, around a 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Key Lime Pie

Notes:  Lime, bergamot, and melon balanced by green notes, geranium, violet leaf and tagette (marigold)

Review: This is a fake lemony lime scent, but not in a bad way. I don't smell any bakery notes, so it doesn't smell like pie, and it's not as sweet as I'd expect from a pie scent. It's almost a salty lime scent, maybe more like a margarita, but still not sweet enough. I like this scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell melon.

Throw: Very good, around a 3.5 out of 5

Lilac Breeze Trio

Lilac Breeze (lavender color)
This is the same scent as Lilac Petals and Soft Lilac Petals that I reviewed above. The package has the Lilac Breeze wax first, behind the scent name Periwinkle Pansy, which is incorrect.

Periwinkle Pansy
A very nice soft warm soapy floral scent, like an expensive floral scented soap.  It has a bit of a honeysuckle note. Throw was not great, 2.5 or possibly 3 out of 5, but would do well in a small room.

Violet Petals (middle wax)
This is one of the best floral scents I've ever smelled. If it were available in a single pack, I would hoard it! It smells a little like green grass with a smidgeon of gardenia, not really violet. It's bright and not overly sweet and doesn't smell like perfume. It's also a scent monster that took over the whole house, 5 out of 5 throw, and the scent lasted all day!

Lilac Petals

Notes:  Fresh picked lilac with pear-splashed medley of boxwood, violet, precious woods, and berry-infused musk.

Review: A very nice sweet lilac perfume scent. It's not really an authentic lilac scent; in fact, it's a rather standard lilac scent among wax melts and candles. I really like it though. This is the same as the "Soft Lilac Petals" scent, even though the scent notes are very slightly different; this one supposedly has pear and boxwood, where the other scent doesn't, but I don't smell pear or boxwood (boxwood would give it a green, herbal note).

Throw: Excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Luxurious Velvet Woods

Notes:  Fresh greens, blooming tobacco, patchouli, fir needle, cedar, bay leaves, and citrus splashed florals

Review: I smell sandalwood with perhaps a barely detectable hint of smokiness. It's not really sweet. There's also a richness like maybe amber, but not a sweet amber, maybe tobacco. Melted, it has a little bit of a waxy note, and also a smidgeon of a foodie quality. Looking at the scent notes, there's the tobacco. I don't smell fir, but now that I know it's there I think I detect it way in the background.

Throw: Quite good, around a 3 or maybe a 3.5 out of 5

Night Orchid

Notes:  Juicy dark berries, orange, creamy frangipani, dewy honeysuckle, orris, oud and vanilla musk

Review: A very sweet but warm cologne type scent that also has a hint of a laundry note. It's similar to Black Sands but not as much of a warm amber note, and it has that slight laundry note that Black Sands does not. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell any berries, although they could be way in the background. And I don't smell orange at all. And some of the notes, I just don't know what they are so I had to look them up. Frangipani is a flower that smells a little like rose and gardenia, orris is iris flower root, and oud is a sweet woodsy scent.

Throw: Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Oriental Garden

Notes:  Imagine a Japanese garden - clean and floral with herbal notes to round it out

Review: I don't care for this. It smells like basil with a floral note. It's a combination of sour and sweet that I don't think work well together. It smells a little better melted, a very "natural" scent, but I still don't care for it. The scent notes don't say much except floral and herbal, which is accurate. Out of all the scents I'm reviewing today, this is one of the only two I really dislike.

Throw: Very good, around a 3.5 out of 5

Passion Flower

Notes:  Gardenia and mimosa blend with orange flower, tuberose, lush violet, and exotic woods

Review: A sweet yet bitter fake floral scent. There's nothing about this scent that smells like an authentic flower, as it has a chemical note. I thought when melted it might smell a little better, like a fresh floral, but it was quite bitter and smelled a little like bug spray. I didn't like this one. Looking at the scent notes, everything in there is sweet and rich, so I'm not sure where the bitterness is coming from. Out of all the scents I'm reviewing today, this is one of the only two I really dislike.

Throw: Good, around a 3 out of 5

Peony Fields

Notes:  Rose, cyclamen, white musk and tender woods

Review: A bright floral that smells a lot like rose. It's a fake floral, like a floral room spray, not authentic, but that's not a bad thing as it's a great scent. It's not overly sweet and has a smidgeon of bitterness to make it smell a little more authentic. It's not a perfumey scent at all. Looking at the scent notes, there's the rose. And cyclamen is a scent that smells a little like geranium, which is kind of a slightly bitter floral scent. I just realized this is the same scent as their Carmine Rose scent.

Throw: Very good, around a 3.5 out of 5

Sandalwood & Jasmine

Notes:  West Indian lime, cedarwood, jasmine, eucalyptus, orange flower, patchouli leaf oil and sandalwood

Review: On cold sniff, I smell the sandalwood first, but there's also a slight floral note in the background. It's kind of sweet and has a little bit of a men's cologne note. Melted, it's more woodsy (but not smoky), with a slight sweetness, and doesn't have as much of that cologne note. It's a different scent than Cedar Box and Luxurious Velvet Woods (which are also woodsy scents with a slight sweetness). Looking at the notes, I don't smell lime or eucalyptus at all.

Throw: Very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Soft Lilac Petals

Notes:  Fresh-picked lilac blended with violet, precious woods, and berry-infused musk

Review: I think this is the same as the new "Lilac Petals" scent, even though the scent notes are very slightly different. But this one and has very slightly better throw, even though this is the older scent and Lilac Petals is brand new. However, the difference is very subtle, and might simply be due to other variables such as a slightly lower temperature in my room today than yesterday.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5.

Sparkling Pink Prosecco

Notes:  Citrus, muguet (lily of the valley), apricot and passionfruit complement the sweetness of sugared currants

Review: Prosecco is an Italian white wine, similar to champagne. This smells like orange soda but not overly citrusy, as there's something else in there, maybe a smidgeon of floral. Looking at the scent notes, the floral is the muguet (lily of the valley).

Throw: Not good, maybe a 2 out of 5

Sugared Pineapple

Notes:  Sugared pineapple, banana, coconut milk, clove, and tonka bean (vanilla)

Review: On cold sniff, it smells like very sweet pineapple scent with maybe a hint of vanilla. This is not a bakery scent. There may be a hint of coconut, which makes this smell like a really sweet Pina Colada. When melted though, it's not really a tropical drink scent, but more of a fake sweet pineapple scent that still smells pretty good if you like pineapple scents (I don't care for pineapple scents). Looking at the scent notes, they're spot on! This is the same scent as their Timberwick Hawaiian Delight scent.

Throw: Good, around a 3 out of 5

Sweet Strawberry Preserves

Notes:  Strawberries, sweet red raspberries, and white sugar

Review: Super sweet rich strawberry scent that really does smell like strawberry jam. Fantastic scent! There may be another fruit in there, maybe blackberry, that makes this scent so rich. Looking at the scent notes, the other fruit is raspberry.

Throw: Good, around a 3 out of 5, but I really wish it were stronger as a scent like this is meant to be very strong!

Watermelon Sorbet

Notes:  The refreshing mouth-watering scent of a juicy summer watermelon

Review: I'm not a big fan of watermelon scents, but I like this one because it's a very sweet candy-like watermelon that almost has a slight strawberry note. Very summery! The scent notes say just watermelon, but there's definitely sugar in there too. This is a different scent from their Jolly Rancher Watermelon, which is a very fake watermelon candy scent (although still a nice scent if you like candy scents).

Throw: Very good to excellent, around a 3.5 or maybe 4 out of 5

White Gardenia Blossom

Notes:  Gardenia, rose bud and white jasmine with traces of wood, powdered musk and a hint of sweet vanilla

Review: This is a heavenly, old-fashioned floral perfume scent, kind of like White Shoulders perfume.

Throw: Excellent, 4 out of 5.

White Peach Nectar

Notes:  Cinnamon, nutmeg, apricot puree, molasses, pumpkin, peach, nectarine, vanilla, sugar, clove

Review: Based on the name, I expected this to be a very sweet scent, but it's not. It's actually quite sour, with just a little bit of sweetness. On cold sniff I do smell peach, along with a very slight bready note in the background, even though this is not a bakery scent. The picture of peach blossoms on the front tells me that there should be a floral note, but I don't smell that. It's very similar to Juicy Apricot Jam. Smelling them side by side, now I can actually detect a slight floral note in this one which for some reason I thought was a bready note but it's not. Melted, I just smell a nice sour peach, no floral or bready notes. Looking at the notes, I don't smell cinnamon, nutmeg, or clove at all, or any type of fall spice type notes.

Throw: Scent monster, took over entire house, 5 out of 5 throw

Wild Berry

Notes:  Juicy blackberries and sweet cranberries dusted with confectioners sugar

Review: A fantastic rich sweet buttery blueberry scent with sweet buttercream and marshmallow and cotton candy notes. Looking at the notes, there are no blueberries. I don't smell cranberries at all (which would be slightly bitter), I really smell blueberries, and the wax is light blue! This scent and the Banana Nut Bread are my favorite scents out of all of these! UPDATE: I just realized after posting this review, that this is the same scent as their Wild Berry Cobbler scent.

Throw: Very good, around a 3.5 out of 5

Wild Cherry Blossom

Notes:  Cherry blossom notes drift through Asian lotus and delicate rose, dew covered lily, and lustrous greens

Review: All I smell on cold sniff is old waxy soap. Melted, it smells a bit better, still like old waxy soap, but it's actually kind of a nice old-fashioned scent, like Grandma's bathroom! It's not very sweet, and it doesn't smell like cherry blossom at all.

Throw: I expected throw to be poor based on cold sniff, but surprisingly it was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Wild Honeysuckle Trio

Wild Honeysuckle (light yellow color)
This is the same scent as the Honeysuckle Blossom and the Honeysuckle Vine scents.

Hydrangea Blooms (white color)
This wax is where the Sparkling Orange Blossom wax should be in the package by mistake. This is a combination of a creamy tropical fruit scent and a floral scent, with maybe a smidgeon of vanilla and maybe also a barely detectable trace of coconut. It's a lovely scent, even though it doesn't smell like a hydrangea flower. Throw is very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5.

Sparkling Orange Blossom (orange wax)
This wax is where the Hydrangea Blooms wax should be in the package by mistake. Although I definitely smell orange blossom in this one, I think the Wild Honeysuckle scent has a stronger orange blossom note. This is a very nice sweet floral and orange blossom (neroli) scent with a light wood note (like an agar or oud wood) and maybe some Oriental spices. It also smells a little like Coppertone suntan lotion. It's a fantastic, unusual scent. Throw is very good to excellent, around a 3.5 or maybe 4 out of 5, and the scent lasted all day.

ScentSationals Fusion Scented Wax Melts - Spring 2017 Review

ScentSationals Fusion Scented Wax Melts - Spring 2017 Review

ScentSationals Fusion Scented Wax Melts - Spring 2017

Watch video below:

ScentSationals has a line of wax melts called "Fusion", which are supposed to be "mixable fragrances". They don't seem any different to me than their regular scents, since all wax melt scents can be mixed. These new Spring 2017 Fusion scents are only available in certain stores across the country, such as Meijer's. They're not on the ScentSationals website, but I'm hoping they will be added in a few weeks when ScentSationals updates their website and allows online ordering again.

Clarity (Sage Leaf & Clove)
This smells a lot like the new ScentSationals Apple Wood scent (which I reviewed at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/02/scentsationals-spring-2017-scented-wax-melts-review.html). But it's not the same scent. They both have a tobacco note with a slightly foodie quality. But Apple Wood has a smidgeon of apple and men's cologne (and is very slightly sweet), while Clarity does not. Clarity has a slightly more herbal note. It's like tobacco with a smidgeon of sage. I don't smell clove though. It's a very "different" scent, and I'm not sure if I like it. Melted, it smells a little bit like barbecued meat, but not really in a bad way. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Dream Big (Lavender & Thyme)
This is an authentic lavender scent, like the lavender plant itself. It's not very sweet, and it's a little medicinal but not too much so, more like an herbal lavender. When melted it's a very nice fresh almost soapy lavender scent that doesn't need any sweetness. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Happy Day (Lemon)
This is almost the exact same scent as ScentSationals Happy Home, with a very subtle difference. I reviewed ScentSationals Happy Home at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/02/scentsationals-spring-2017-scented-wax-melts-review.html.  This scent is slightly more lemony with slightly less of a bakery note. I still detect a warm vanilla cookie note, but it's not as pronounced, and I don't detect the sweet rich buttercream. The lemon in this scent has a very slight kitchen lemon note. But really, if you compare ScentSationals Happy Home and this Happy Day Fusion side by side, you might not be able to tell the difference. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Healing Spells (Eucalyptus & Herbs)
This is the same scent as the new AmbiEscents Eucalyptus & Herbs scent, which I reviewed at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/03/ambiescents-scented-wax-melts-bed-bath-beyond-spring-2017.html. But while the AmbiEscents didn't have a good throw (around 2 out of 5), Healing Spells' throw was fairly good, around a 2.5 or maybe 3 out of 5. Of course, a lot of factors can affect throw, such as temperature variations in the room, etc. So I would say throw is between a 2 and 2.5 out of 5.

Invigorate Me (Lemongrass & Peppermint)
This is the same scent as the new AmbiEscents Lemongrass & Peppermint scent, which I LOVE, and I reviewed it at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/03/ambiescents-scented-wax-melts-bed-bath-beyond-spring-2017.html. While the AmbiEscents version was a scent monster that took over the house, 5 out of 5 throw, Invigorate Me was not a "scent monster", but throw was still excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5. Again, throw could have been affected by other variables, but I would still say the throw on this scent is excellent.

Sweet Dreams (Sweet Jasmine)
This name for this scent is a total misnomer. There is no jasmine or even floral in this scent, and it's not sweet at all. I can't even figure out what it smells like, maybe a bitter soapy scent? Melted, it definitely smells like soap, like an intense natural soap, not citronella but that type of intensity, and throw was very good, around a 3 out of 5. I just can't really figure out what I'm smelling, but it's definitely not floral. I don't care for it.

Soul Searching (Rosemary & Mint)
I did not buy this scent because I couldn't find it.

Big Lots Living Colors Scented Wax Melts Review – Summer 2017

Big Lots Living Colors Scented Wax Melts Review – Summer 2017

Big Lots Living Colors Scented Wax Melts – Summer 2017

Watch video below:

This is a review of Living Colors scented wax melts from Big Lots (new Summer 2017 scents that came out at the end of April). Living Colors wax melts are made by MVP Group International, the same company that makes Mainstays (for Walmart), Colonial Candles, Burt's Bees, and K-Mart & Sears wax.

These melts often have very weak throw, and I was pleasantly surprised with the scents that came out in early spring 2017, because most of them threw quite well and smelled great. But these new summer (late spring?) 2017 scents in general didn't throw well.

Check out my other Living Colors scented wax reviews at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/search?q=living+colors.

Blueberry Swirl
This smells like a blueberry muffin. It's a fake blueberry scent, not authentic, but it's still a very nice scent. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5, but scent started dissipating in under an hour.

Coconut Pineapple
This smells like the name, a combination of coconut and pineapple. It's very sweet, like a tropical drink. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Coral Sunset
I didn't buy this one as it was not available when I bought the others. But I went back later and found it but still didn't buy it as I didn't care for the scent. It smells like a sweet pineapple mixed with some other fruit and maybe a little bit of coconut, although there might not actually be a coconut note. It's not the same as the Coconut Pineapple scent, which is mostly coconut with some pineapple. It's very strong on cold sniff, so I assume the throw would be very good to excellent.

Lemongrass Verbena
This is the same as their very popular Lemon Bars scent from two years ago I think (Lime Mojito from May 2016 was also a dupe of Lemon Bars).  It smells like straight slightly sweet "true" lemon with a little bit of salt. It's not a kitchen lemon or a bakery lemon or a lemon alcoholic drink. It's probably one of the best lemon scents I've ever smelled, and throw is excellent.

Ocean Driftwood
This one is weak on cold sniff. It's a nice soapy scent with a sweet honeysuckle note I think, and something else I can't put my finger on, which might be the driftwood. Barely any throw when melted, maybe 1 out of 5, if that.

Sand Dunes
This smells like coconut with a slightly sour driftwood scent in the background, like a salty beach. Throw was not good, around a 2 out of 5, so might only work well in a very small room.

Sea Blossoms
A lovely bright fruity floral. Melted, it's more of a bright fresh floral and I don't smell any fruit. Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.

Strawberry Smoothie
This one is weak on cold sniff and smells like a very fake strawberry with a slightly sour or chemical note, and not even so much strawberry as some generic fruit I can't figure out, maybe something tropical? Throw was poor, maybe a 2 out of 5, if that.

Sun Splash
I can't figure out this scent. On cold sniff at first I thought it smelled waxy, but it's more of a fresh slightly salty soapy scent, like a bubble bath. It's nice and unique.  Throw was not good, maybe a 2 out of 5, so might do well in a tiny bathroom.

Tropical Zest
A slightly sour tropical fruit scent, similar to a lot of sour tropical fruit scents out there. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Vanilla Nectarine
This smells like a very sweet marshmallow scent. I don't smell any nectarine. It's probably a dupe for a marshmallow scent they may have had at one time.  Throw was fair to good, around a 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

Watermelon Slice
This is a very sweet candy scent with a hint of watermelon, like watermelon flavored candy or even watermelon scented body lotion. There may also be a smidgeon of a sweet floral. I'm not a fan of watermelon scents, but because the watermelon note in this one is so subtle it's very nice. I don't know if this is the same scent as the "Watermelon" scent that came out in April 2016, which was also a "nice fake watermelon candy type scent". Throw was fair to good, 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

Aldi Huntington Home Scented Wax Melts Review - May 2017

Aldi Huntington Home Scented Wax Melts Review - May 2017

Aldi Huntington Home Scented Wax Melts - May 2017

Watch video below:

This is a review of Aldi's Scented Wax Melts that came out April/May 2017. Aldi comes out with 4 different wax scents 3 times a year: January/February (spring scents), April/May (summer scents), and September (fall scents). They cost $1.69 each (regular price), which is even cheaper than the $2 wax at Walmart. They are manufactured by Hanna's Candles, the company that makes Ashland melts for Michael's. In general the Aldi wax is very good quality, although I was not impressed with the April/May 2017 scents.

Floral Trio:

Magnolia & Moss - A soapy floral with a green note. Melted, it smells a bit like old soap with a slightly bitter note. I didn't care for the scent, and the throw was not great, 2.5 out of 5.

River Willow - A fresh watery scent with a soapy note and smidgeon of salt water. Melted, it smells like soap, a nice bathroom type scent. Throw was fair, around a 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

Savannah Breeze - A sweet watery soapy floral with a green note. It's my favorite scent of the three, and throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Melon Trio:

Cantaloupe Melon - A pleasant honeydew melon scent with a creamy note, and it's not overly sweet. Not like melon candy, but maybe a creamy melon drink. Throw is very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.

Cucumber Melon - Fresh cucumber with a subtle melon note. But throw was maybe a 1 or 1.5 out of 5, so might not even do well in a tiny room.

Sweet Melon & Papaya - This one is very weak on cold sniff. I get a sweet tropical fruit scent (the papaya) with a smidgeon of melon. Throw was fair, 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

Pink Flower Trio:

Cherry Blossom - This smells more like orange blossom. I smell a creamy orange with a hint of floral. Throw was barely a 1 out of 5.

Pink Azalea - This smells like a rich sweet creamy strawberry and vanilla. It's so rich, there's almost a caramel note in the background. I don't detect a floral note, but if it's there it's very subtle. Fantastic scent, and throw was excellent, around a 3.5 or maybe 4 out of 5, and the scent lasted all day.

Lotus Flower - This one also smells like creamy strawberry, but it's more fruity than Pink Azalea, and not as rich. I don't smell any floral notes. Another fantastic scent with excellent throw (4 out of 5), and the scent lasted all day.

Vanilla Trio: This is the same vanilla trio as the Ashland brand from Michael's, which I reviewed at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/01/ashland-scented-wax-melts-at-michaels-spring-2017.html. All of the vanilla scents in this trio smell pretty much the same, with only some very minor differences.

Vanilla Bean - A nice very sweet vanilla scent with a subtle cookie note. Throw is very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5, but started dissipating within an hour.

Vanilla Cream - Sweet rich almost marshmallowy vanilla buttercream. Throw was not great, maybe 2.5 out of 5.

Creamy Vanilla with Coconut - Sweet vanilla with just a smidgeon of coconut. Throw was not good, around 2 or possibly 2.5 out of 5.

AmbiEscents Scented Wax Melts from Bed Bath and Beyond – Spring 2017 Review – Part 2

AmbiEscents Scented Wax Melts from Bed Bath and Beyond – Spring 2017 Review – Part 2

These 5 new AmbiEscents scents are all dupes of ScentSationals scents. If you don't have the scents that they are dupes for, and can't find them at Walmart, then you can buy them at Bed Bath and Beyond. But remember that AmbiEscents scents are $2.99, and ScentSationals scents are $2.00 at Walmart. So it only makes "sense" to buy these AmbiEscents dupes if you can't find the duplicate scent at Walmart. As of this writing, I believe ScentSationals Apple Wood, Woodland Magic, and Zen can still be found at Walmart. I'm not sure about Rock Candy. And I think Himalayan Pink Salt might be the only one that you can't find at Walmart, since it was a limited edition that came out last year.

I did a review of 5 other Spring 2017 AmbiEscents wax melts in March, at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/03/ambiescents-scented-wax-melts-bed-bath-beyond-spring-2017.html.

Apple & Oud
This is the same scent as ScentSationals "Apple Wood" which came out in February 2017. You can read that review at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/02/scentsationals-spring-2017-scented-wax-melts-review.html.

Himalayan Rock Salt
This is the same scent as ScentSationals "Himalayan Pink Salt" which came out February 2016 and has since been discontinued. You can read that review at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2016/01/scentsationals-scented-wax-melts-early-spring-2016.html.

Pine Meadow
This is the same scent as ScentSationals "Woodland Magic" which came out in February 2017. You can read that review at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/02/scentsationals-spring-2017-scented-wax-melts-review.html.

Sugar
This is the same scent as ScentSationals "Rock Candy" which has been around for several years. It's a very sweet fake berry hard candy scent that smells great, and a lot of people love it. Throw is excellent.

Zen Garden
This is the same scent as ScentSationals "Zen", a beloved scent that has been  out for years. The notes for ScentSationals Zen are "Blend of eucalyptus, spearmint, white pine, Egyptian musk and smooth sandalwood". To me it smells like a subtle laundry scent with a smidgeon of spearmint, and throw is excellent.

Sonoma Scented Wax Melts from Kohl's – Late Spring 2017

Watch video below:

This is a review of the 3 new late Spring 2017 Sonoma scented wax melts from Kohl's that came out in April. These wax for these 3 scents is soft and messy, not like Sonoma's usual wax which is harder.

Ciao Bella
"A blend of lavender and pink cyclamen with bursts of mandarin, pear and pineapple"
This is quite weak on cold sniff. I smell lavender with a hint of fruit in the background and some other notes I can't figure out. It's a fresh airy type scent. Looking at the scent notes, there's the lavender and the fruits. I guess pink cyclamen is a type of flower although this is not a floral scent, and it's not sweet at all. Melted, there's a weird zesty, almost vinegary or lemon juice, note in the background that doesn't mix well with the other notes, so I'm not crazy about this scent. Someone in our Facebook group said it reminded them of Noxzema, and I do detect a very faint Noxzema type note. Throw was fair, around a 2.5 out of 5, so this would do better in a small room.

Mediterranean Coast
"A relaxing, seaside-inspired scent of sea salt, driftwood, citrus and musk"
This is a nice fresh woodsy slightly peppery scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't detect citrus, and it's not really a sweet scent. Throw was fair, around a 2.5 out of 5, so this would do better in a small room.

Tuscan Sun
"An aromatic blend of sweet pear, crisp apple and sun-ripened banana warmed with creamy caramel and spice"
This is a rich yummy scent that smells like pears and caramel. Looking at the scent notes, I don't detect banana. Throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Mainstays - Spring 2017 Scented Wax Melts Review

Mainstays - Spring 2017 Scented Wax Melts Review

Watch video below:

Aloha Colada

Notes: Juicy, sun-ripe, island pineapple spun with creamy, smooth coconut milk, a hint of sweet vanilla bean and a generous splash of white rum stirred with dazzling sugarcane.

Typical pineapple coconut scent, nothing special. Very strong on cold sniff, and throw was quite good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 (although based on the strong cold sniff I was expecting this to be a scent monster that would take over the entire house).

Tranquil Island

Notes: Tropical marine waters flow with notes of heady melon flower and sweet, aquatic melon touched by hints of island coconut fused with milky greens, sun-drenched musk and pure white woods

This smells like fabric softener with a tropical fruit note. It's an "okay" scent for me. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Sweet Apple

Notes: Juicy apple is freshened with sweet pear and fresh sliced orange, while crystallized sugar and raw vanilla bean add a hint of sweetness.

This one was hard to find, and not all Walmarts carry it. It's a sweet fake apple scent, like apple candy. Throw is excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Soothing Spa

Notes: Bright herbal greens, white eucalyptus and smooth sandalwood gleam with budding lavender blossom, effervescent bergamot and cool whispers of crushed mint.

This one actually came out last year but only a few Walmarts carried it. It came back this year but is still hard to find. This smells like combination of ScentSationals Zen (light sandalwood with a very subtle spearmint note and a smidgeon of musk and laundry) with a sweet coffee note and a smidgeon of amber. Like relaxing yoga in the morning! When melted, it really smells like ScentSationals Zen and I don't smell as much of the coffee, although it's a richer, warmer, sweeter version of Zen. Throw was very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5.

Darkest Sandalwood

Notes: Intriguing notes of warm sandalwood and earthy patchouli blend with aromatic tobacco leaf and white cedar wrapped in an appealing hint of balsamic fir and soft vanilla musk.

This one also came out last year but only a few Walmarts carried it. It came back this year but is still hard to find. It smells like smoky tobacco with a very sweet note that kind of makes it smell like barbecue sauce. It's not a men's cologne type scent although there could be a smidgeon of cologne in there. It's a very nice masculine scent with a slightly foodie quality. Melted, it really smells like sweet barbecue sauce. When I left the room and came back a half hour later, I thought someone was cooking! Throw was good, 3 out of 5.

Arm & Hammer Wax Melts from Dollar General - Review

Arm & Hammer Wax Melts from Dollar General - Review

These are new and I've only seen them at Dollar General. They only have two scent duos. The wax is soft and messy like the Dollar General "True Living" wax brand. Therefore, I didn't have high hopes for this wax because I haven't had luck with True Living wax in terms of throw. But I was pleasantly surprised that all of the scents except one threw quite well.

These are $2.50 each for 2 oz. of wax, and there are two scents in the package of 1 oz. each. Each scent can be broken into 4 rectangular cubes, and you put one or more cube into the warmer. You can mix the scents if you'd like, or use them separately. I prefer to melt them separately.

Ripe Raspberry/Island Breeze

Island Breeze (light pink) is a nice but generic tropical scent. Melted, it smells like a generic tropical scent that might be used in a commercial bathroom. Still a nice scent though. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Ripe Raspberry (magenta) is a very sweet fake raspberry scent, almost like "pink sugar" or raspberry scented body lotion. It's a very nice scent, not meant to be an authentic fruit scent. Throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5. But scent started dissipating within about 2 hours.

Citrus Swirl/Cilantro Lime

Citrus Swirl (yellow) is a plain but pleasant orange scent with a lemon note. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5. But scent started dissipating within 2.5 hours or so.

Cilantro Lime (green) is a very nice herbal slightly peppery lime scent. Throw was non-existent when melted, 0 out of 5, and I couldn't even smell it from a foot away.

Goose Creek Candle Scented Wax Melts Review - Spring 2017

Goose Creek Candle Scented Wax Melts Review - Spring 2017

Goose Creek Candle Scented Wax Melts - Spring 2017

Watch video below:

Another great scented wax melt haul from Goose Creek Candle! Almost all of these are new Spring 2017 scents, although there are a couple from Fall and Winter 2016 that I hadn't tried before. There are only maybe 2 or 3 scents in this haul that I don't like or that don't throw well.

A few months ago Goose Creek changed their scented wax melts formula. The wax used to be very soft and messy, but now the wax is hard and much easier to handle.

Please also read my other Goose Creek scented wax melt reviews at:

Balsam Fir
This scent came out during the winter season, but this is my first time trying it. On cold sniff this smells like a typical Christmas tree scent. It's different from Christmas Tree Farm (which has a slight berry and licorice note) and Christmas Tree Cutting (which smells like pine/spruce with a dirt note, in a good way). But when melted, it smells fantastic, like a real fir tree, slightly woodsy and smoky, and it doesn't have that fake biting pine note. This one is a scent monster that took over the entire house, 5 out of 5 throw.

Banana Pudding
This is a bright sweet banana with a vanilla note and no bakery notes. It's a bit of an artificial banana scent, but not in a bad way.
Comparing this to their Sweet Banana Bread scent, that scent is sweeter with a bakery note as well as faint notes of nut and caramel. This scent is just straight banana and vanilla without any other notes. It's a nice scent, and it smells like banana flavored Vanilla Wafer cookies.
Comparing this to Better Homes & Gardens Banana Bread Pudding (which came out in the fall of 2015 but has since been discontinued), the Better Homes & Gardens version is more vanilla with a cookie note and a smidgeon of nut, not as sweet, and with much less banana. That scent actually smells a bit more like the Goose Creek Sweet Banana Bread scent.  Throw was excellent, 3.5 to 4 out of 5.

Bath Time
This is a great scent, but it doesn't smell like the name. I expected a sweet bubble bath scent, but this is more of a fresh watery herbal scent. It's not sweet, and actually has a bitter note (I'm finding that bitter note in several of the new scents). But the bitter note works for this scent because it's more of a green herbal scent. In fact, it smells like grass or a walk in the park.  When melted, yes, it definitely smells like green grass with maybe some fresh herbs, including a smidgeon of fresh mint. Nice, natural scent like the windows are open. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Blooming Magnolias
Fantastic scent! This does smell a lot like magnolia flowers, but actually I would call it "lemon flower", since I smell lemon mixed with a sweet honeysuckle type note.  When melted though, I don't detect a lemony or honeysuckle note. It just smells like authentic magnolia flowers, not overly sweet, and very natural. Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.

Caramel Butter
This scent came out last year but this is my first time buying it. This is the newer hard wax as well, even though the scent is older. It's weak on cold sniff, with a smidgeon of coffee I think, but I also detect a plasticy note. When melted, I don't smell the plasticy note, just a rich caramel scent with a smidgeon of coffee. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Coffee Shop
This is a creamy coffee scent with a hint of sweet hazelnut perhaps. It smells like a lot of other sweet coffee scents from other companies. It's a nice scent, but kind of "typical". Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Cookie Dough Bites
This really does smell like cookie dough with chocolate chips. The chocolate is subtle, like a milk chocolate rather than a strong burnt chocolate. And of course there's the rich buttery cookie dough note. Melted, there's also a subtle note in there that I can't put my finger on, maybe like a bready or yeasty note that I don't care for, but it's not strong enough to detract from the overall scent. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Gardenia Petals
A lovely sweet gardenia scent with a slightly soapy note and I think a smidgeon of vanilla. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Lavender de France
This is an authentic lavender scent. It's a little medicinal, but it also has a smidgeon of sweetness that keeps it from being too medicinal. It's not a sweet or perfumey lavender scent. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Lilac Garden
This is an authentic lilac scent. It has a smidgeon of a "green" note that keeps it smelling natural. It's a little sweet, but not a fake or perfumey sweetness. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Lost at Sea
At first I thought on cold sniff that this was just another salty watery scent, but it's a bit different in that it has a slight peppery note that makes it unique, and a hint of bitterness that I don't care for. Melted, that bitter note is more pronounced. Throw was fair to good, around a 2.5 or 3 out of 5, so it would be best for a smaller room.

Peanut Butter & Jelly
I didn't think I'd like this. Just the thought of the house smelling like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was a bit off-putting for me. But this scent is fantastic! It smells like their Peanut Butter Sugar scent, but with a grape note added, and not quite as sweet. I smell the rich grape jelly first, and then the salty nutty note. Since I don't smell a bready note, this smells more like a fruit and nut health bar than a sandwich. When melted, it smells almost exactly like their Peanut Butter Sugar scent, with a smidgeon of grape. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Pure Red Rose
This is not a sweet pretty rose scent. It's not sweet, and in fact, it's very bitter. The bitterness gives it a slightly vinyl-like chemical note. I didn't like this one, but throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Sparkling Woods
This scent came out during the winter and was not available in a wax melt, so I bought it in the "Fireflies" format (1.5 oz. candle) to cut up into melts. This is a lovely scent. I smell a little bit of wood, a smidgeon of pine perhaps, but the main note I can't put my finger on, maybe it's fig perhaps, and I think there might also be a warm amber note. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Snow Covered Bridge
This scent came out during the winter and was not available in a wax melt, so I bought it in the "Fireflies" format (1.5 oz. candle) to cut up into melts. On cold sniff I smell fresh mint with a slight warm musk background and maybe a smidgeon of sandalwood. But when melted, it smells completely different, like raw wood while walking through a forest, with a cedar note and maybe just a smidgeon of balsam. Fantastic scent, one of my favorites! Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Superfood Acai
Intense grapefruit scent with orange notes and I think I detect a bit of green tea. This one is a scent monster that took over the entire house, 5 out of 5 throw.

Sweet Pea
This really does smell like a Sweet Pea floral, that sweet rich warm almost vanilla floral scent. And throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

White Tea & Bergamot
What a fantastic scent! I smell tea with a salty lemon and herbal note. It's more of a spa scent than a drinking tea scent. Throw was excellent, 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

White Teakwood & Moss
I love this scent! It's a sweet cedar wood scent with a natural note that gives it a slight moldy or mildewy note, but in a good way, and that's probably supposed to be the moss note. But when melted I don't smell that mossy note, just the sweet cedar wood, and I think there's a slight tobacco note. Very nice, throw was excellent, 3.5 to 4 out of 5, and the scent lasted all day!

Lemon Vanilla Cake Batter
This is the only new Spring 2017 scent that I wasn't able to get. They were sold out when I placed my order.

EnviroScent Bursts Review

EnviroScent Bursts Review

EnviroScent Bursts Review

I didn't do a text review of these scents, only a video review.

One of these was fantastic and the scent lasted for days! The other had barely any scent at all. Like the Better Homes & Gardens Paper Scent Bursts (which are made by EnviroScent, and which I reviewed at http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/03/better-homes-and-gardens-fragranced-paper-scent-bursts.html) these can also be used as potpourri (without a wax burner) and even used in your car! I put one of these EnviroScent Bursts spheres in my car last week, and my car still smells fantastic. When the inside of the car gets warm, and especially when the sun hits the sphere, the scent is super strong! I forgot to mention in the video that the spheres do have a slightly flat end so that it will stay in place.

April 28, 2017 update - I found the Wild Lavender and Paradise Breeze scents when I went back to Walmart last week. They both smell great. Wild Lavender is, well, a lavender scent. And Paradise Breeze is a very sweet coconut scent with a slight pineapple note, like a sweet tropical drink. Wild Lavender didn't throw very well, but Paradise Breeze did, although not as good as the True Cotton scent, which is phenomenal, and after two weeks in my car I can STILL smell it!

Living Colors Scented Wax Melts from Big Lots - Spring 2017

This is a review of Living Colors scented wax melts from Big Lots (new Spring 2017 scents Part 2 - I reviewed 7 other Spring 2017 scents in February:
http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2017/02/living-colors-scented-wax-melts-from-big-lots.html

Living Colors wax melts are made by MVP Group International, the same company that makes Mainstays (for Walmart), Colonial Candles, Burt's Bees, and K-Mart & Sears wax. These melts often have very weak throw, but I was pleasantly surprised with the scents below, because most of them threw quite well and smelled great!

Bamboo & Willow
A fantastic scent, like a hothouse gardenia, rich and intense, but not overly sweet. Also smells like an old-fashioned perfume. There's a faint "green" note in there also that keeps it from being too sweet. Throw was excellent, 3.5 to 4 out of 5.

English Wallflower
Fantastic scent that smells like sweet tropical fruit or maybe a very sweet apricot, mixed with a light floral note. Very nice, and not too fruity or too flowery. When melted, I smelled more of the fruit, but within an hour it started to put off a little bit of a cat pee note. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Floral Rain
A bright artificial watery scent that smells like a bathroom air freshener. This is the one I thought I was going to like the least because of that artificial note, but I actually like it a lot. Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.

Hydrangea Blooms
This smells a lot like the Bamboo & Willow scent, a nice gardenia scent, but this one doesn't have the intense hothouse note that Bamboo & Willow has. This smells a bit like White Shoulders perfume, but it's not overly sweet. Melted, however, it smells like an authentic lily-of-the-valley flower. Very nice, and throw is excellent, around a 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

Stone Garden
A nice jasmine or gardenia scent, and not overly sweet. There's another note way in the background, maybe a fresh air or watery note, or perhaps a smidgeon of laundry, that tempers some of the sweetness. Actually, it smells a bit like suntan lotion! Very nice scent, but throw was only fair to good, maybe 2.5 or 3 out of 5, but would do well in a smaller room.

Water Lily
This is a fresh watery scent with a little floral. It also smells like body wash or shampoo. A great scent for the bathroom. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Wild Poppies
Fantastic scent, like a fresh fruity floral herbal shampoo. Throw was fair to good, around a 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

Chesapeake Bay Scented Wax Melts from Target – Spring 2017 Review

Chesapeake Bay Scented Wax Melts from Target – Spring 2017 Review

Chesapeake Bay Scented Wax Melts from Target

Watch video below:

I've reviewed other Chesapeake Bay Scented Wax Melts, in October 2015 (http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2015/10/chesapeake-bay-candle-scented-wax-review.html) and March 2016 (http://www.scentedwaxreviews.com/2016/03/chesapeake-bay-candle-home-scents-wax-review-spring-2016.html). Most of these are $3.29, but the newer scents are $3.99. For me, the quality does not justify the price, as this brand has never thrown very well for me.

Hinoki Bonsai
This smells like a light raw wood with a sweet peppermint note. It's a spa type scent, a little similar to ScentSationals Zen. Throw is not good, around a 2 or 2.5 out of 5.

Mountain View
This has a light raw wood note too, but there's also some kind of mossy or swampy note in the background, but not in a bad way. It's a nice natural scent. Throw is fair, around a 2.5 or maybe 3 out of 5.

Fireside
This smells like Liquid Smoke combined with a little bit of a sweet tobacco note. It smells fantastic, and very strong on cold sniff. Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.

Eucalyptus
This is a fresh herbal type scent. It also has that slight mossy note like Mountain View, but much less so. There's also a very slight men's cologne note. This scent just has a smidgeon of sweetness. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Island Orchid
This is a fresh floral scent with a slightly bitter background. It's not overly sweet, and smells a bit like body wash. Throw was fair to good, around a 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

Morning Roast
If there were an award for the most incorrectly named scent, this one would win. With the name "Morning Roast" and a picture of coffee beans on the label, one would expect that this were a coffee scent. But there is not a smidgeon of coffee in this scent. It smells like a nice soapy subtle men's cologne or body wash. When I first smelled it at the store, I smelled a couple of them to make sure the one I picked up wasn't a fluke. And the lids are permanently attached to the clamshell, so it's not like anyone could have switched lids. There had to have been a mix-up at the factory! Throw wasn't great, around a 2.5 out of 3.

Sonoma Scented Wax Melts from Kohl's – Spring 2017 Reviews

Sonoma Scented Wax Melts from Kohl's – Spring 2017 Reviews

Sonoma Scented Wax Melts from Kohl's – Spring 2017

Watch video below:

Raspberry Lemonade
Notes: A refreshing mix of raspberries, blackberries and red currants with a touch of lemon, nectarine blossom and peach
This smells amazing and super strong on cold sniff. It smells like sweet salty lemon with a tart raspberry note. But when melted, throw was just okay, around a 2.5 or 3 out of 5. It would do best in a small room. Based on cold sniff and the scent name, I expected the throw to be better.

Key Lime Pie
Notes: Refreshing blend of vanilla, sugared graham crust and smooth whipped cream
This also smells amazing and super strong on cold sniff. I smell a sweet creamy slightly salty lime scent with a vanilla note, but I also smell a graham cracker type pie crust note, and a smidgeon of almond. When melted, it has a slightly burnt note, but not bad. It's still a fantastic scent. Throw is very good, around a 3.5 out of 5, although it started dissipating within 2 hours.

Blooming Honeysuckle
Notes: Sweet honeysuckle, dewy greens and relaxing jasmine
A lovely honeysuckle type scent. It's not really authentic, but more of a sweet soapy honeysuckle, but still smells fantastic. But I believe this is a dupe of the older Sonoma "Honeysuckle" scent, and last year's "Hawaiian Honeysuckle". So it's not actually a new scent. Throw is excellent, at least a 4 out of 5 but probably more.

Pink Velvet Cupcake
Notes: Jasmine, sugared vanilla and citrus
This is a sweet vanilla scent with a salty peanut note, and maybe a smidgeon of lemon and some kind of berry and just a barely detectable note of almond. I can't figure out what the heck I'm smelling. It smells a little bit like last year's ScentSationals Pink Velvet scent, but not exactly. That one has slightly more tart berry and lemon notes, while Sonoma Pink Velvet Cupcake is sweeter and has a very slight perfumey note. Throw is not great, around a 2.5 out of 5, but might do well in a very small room.

Peach Gelato
Notes: A blend of sweetened peaches with a hint of white sugar
This one was not available in the wax melts when I went to Kohl's. But I smelled it in the candle form and it's just a typical creamy milky peach scent. It smells like a lot of peach scents out there.

Creamy Coconut Vanilla
This may be the same scent as the Coconut Vanilla side of the Vanilla Trio that came out in Spring 2016 and Spring 2017. Here's what I said about that scent in January:
This is a typical fake coconut scent, like a cheap coconut air freshener. But I think it's combined with a little bit of vanilla so it's not really too bad. Throw is fair, around a 2.5 out of 5.
Yes, I believe this is the same scent. Throw this time was about the same, not great, 2 or 2.5 out of 5.

Ocean Peony
This one is weak on cold sniff, but I do smell floral and maybe a laundry note. It's not very sweet. I think this would be a good scent for the bathroom or bedroom. Throw was maybe a 1 out of 5 and I couldn't really smell it. It might do okay in a very tiny bathroom.

Ocean Trio

Light Blue ("Calm Sea Air")
This one shows a picture of a beach umbrella on a beach. It's a fresh watery scent with a hint of sweet coconut. Fantastic scent, and I wish it came in its own single clamshell. Throw was excellent, 4 out of 5.

Darker Blue ("Ocean Breeze")
This one shows a picture of palm trees on a beach. It smells similar to the medium blue scent, although this one might not have that extra fresh smidgeon of lemon. It might have a barely detectable smidgeon of laundry or maybe floral. It's a fresh watery scent though, not a laundry or floral scent. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Medium Blue ("Aqua Waters")
This one shows a picture of the ocean. It's a nice fresh watery scent that might have just a smidgeon of lemon for freshness. Throw was very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Shake It Up Trio

Orange ("Peach Moscato")
This is a typical mango scent, which smells like peach with a sour note. It's not very sweet. Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5, but I didn't care for the scent.

Red ("Cherry Popsicle")
This is a fake cherry candy scent, and not overly sweet. There may be a smidgeon of lemon. It's very nice! Throw was very good, around a 3 to 3.5 out of 5.

Pink ("Watermelon Mojito")
I had to remove this from the warmer as soon as it started melting because I didn't like the scent. It's watermelon but it's not sweet, almost slightly savory. I'm not a fan of watermelon scents in general, unless they're very sweet like candy. So someone else might love this scent. I couldn't tolerate it. I think the throw would have been very good to excellent though, as it was already quite strong after just a few minutes.

Summer Desserts Trio

Yellow ("Lemon Eclair")
This one shows a picture of some kind of bready dessert with cream in the middle, maybe an éclair but without chocolate on top. This is very light on cold sniff, but it does kind of have a Boston Crème scent which is very nice. Unfortunately throw was poor, around a 1.5 or maybe a 2 out of 5.

Red ("Strawberry Ice Cream")
This one shows a picture of strawberry ice cream I think, with strawberry stripes throughout. This scent is phenomenal! It's a super milky creamy strawberry scent, just like a rich strawberry ice cream, but more like crème fraiche. Throw was very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.

Blue ("Blueberry Cheesecake")
This one shows a picture of a blueberry pie or blueberry torte, some kind of blueberry dessert. It smells like a typical blueberry bakery scent, not authentic but rich, buttery and fantastic. And throw was excellent, 4 out of 5. But the scent started dissipating in 2 hours and was pretty much gone within 3 hours.

Tiki Beach Trio

Pink ("Pink Sea Salt")
This is the Pink Sea Salt scent that came out in January as part of the spring collection. Here's the review that I did for this scent in January:
"I expected this to be similar to ScentSationals Himalayan Pink Salt scent, but it's not. It's a fresh pleasant watery floral, not too sweet, with maybe a smidgeon of saltiness. It smells like shower gel. Melted, it smelled clean, like someone just got out of the shower. But throw wasn't great, around a 2 or maybe 2.5 out of 5. This would do best in a very small room, and it's a perfect scent for a bathroom."
Throw was better this time, I'd say very good, around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

Yellow ("Pineapple Beachwood")
This one shows a picture of a cut pineapple. It's a nice mellow driftwood scent with a hint of pineapple. It's not a sweet or fruity scent. Throw was good, around a 3 out of 5.

Beige ("Driftwood Sands")
This one shows a picture of driftwood on a beach. It's very weak on cold sniff, and throw was almost non-existent, barely a 1 out of 5, and might not even do well in a small bathroom. I can detect a faint scent only from close-up, and it's a nice warm perfumey scent with a smidgeon of driftwood.
