Banana Nut Bread
Notes: Freshly baked bread, bananas, apricots,
walnuts, vanilla, whipped butter, ginger, nutmeg crystals, and clove
Review: Super rich
and buttery and banana-ey with a salty nutty note, this one may very well put
all other banana bread scents to shame. Comparing this scent with Goose Creek
Sweet Banana Bread, they both smell fantastic but I like Hanna's Banana Nut
Bread more. And comparing this to Mainstays Banana Nut Bread, there's no comparison
at all; the Mainstays version is nice but a bit artificial. This scent and the
Wild Berry scent are my favorite scents out of all of these!
Throw: Excellent,
3.5 or 4 out of 5
Black Mulberry Tree
Notes: Sweet mulberry and juicy plum woven with
sparkling citrus nuances and a splash of vineyard grape
Review: I smell
sweet grape and dark blackberry and a little bit of plum, which makes this
scent very rich. It's not an authentic grape scent, but more like grape candy.
If you like grape scents, this is a good one.
Throw: Good,
around a 3 out of 5
Black Sands
Notes: Orange, lily, bergamot, jasmine, rosewood,
heliotrope, and musk
Review: A sweet
super warm scent with strong amber and musk notes, baby powder, and a slight
cologne note. There's a nice floral note in there that I can't identify that
almost has a foodie quality like vanilla. Looking at the scent notes, I don't
smell orange at all. The nice floral note that I couldn't identify is most
likely the heliotrope, which according to online research, is a "delicious
powdery scent that oscillates between marzipan, vanilla, cherry pie and almond
(hence its alternative name "cherry pie flower")". Well that
explains the baby powder note I'm smelling. But I don't detect any almond.
Melted, I smell mostly a warm baby powder note, probably the heliotrope. This
is a unique scent and I really like it.
Throw: Excellent,
3.5 to 4 out of 5
Cashmere Musk
Notes: Bergamot, jasmine, sandalwood, iris, vanilla,
patchouli, musk and cedar
Review: Fantastic
sweet very warm cozy scent, definitely a strong cashmere note (which smells
like amber but a bit lighter and more powdery), and maybe a little bit of amber
wood. This smells a lot like Glade Cashmere Woods.
Throw: Not good,
maybe a 2 or possibly 2.5 out of 5, but would probably do well in a small room
Cedar Box
Notes: White oak wood, birch, citrus bergamot,
florals, musk and cedarwood
Review: This
really does smell quite a bit like cedar. It's a sweet light wood scent.
Throw: Scent
monster, took over entire house, 5 out of 5 throw
Coconut Milk Mango
Notes: Sweet creamy coconut milk, pineapple,
cilantro, kumquat, and vanilla bean
Review: I'm not a
big fan of tropical scents, but I really like this one. I smell coconut and
tropical fruit. The fruit is slightly sour (in a good way), and it's a rich
scent, probably because of the "creamy coconut milk" note. But what
makes me really like this scent is it smells like there's a hint of lemon in
there. Which there's not. That combination of coconut with that slightly lemony
fruity note is very nice. The "lemon" I think I smell is probably the
kumquat, which smells kind of like a pungent sour orange, a bit like satsuma. I
don't like pineapple scents, and thankfully I don't smell that note in here, or
if it's there, it's tempered by the other notes.
Throw: This is a
scent monster that took over the whole house, 5 out of 5 throw!
Crisp Apple
Notes: Top notes of cinnamon & clove with juicy
apple fused with orange zest
Review: This is
not a fresh crisp apple scent, but a slightly cinnamony apple scent, like light
apple cider or apple juice with a little bit of cinnamon. It's a very nice
scent, and not an overly spicy fall apple scent. It's very similar to
ScentSationals Cinnamon Apples scent, which smells like walking into a
Michael's arts and crafts store in the fall!
Throw: Very good,
around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5, but the scent was pretty much gone in 2 hours.
Early Morning Mist
Notes: Dewy ozone, delicate white florals, and soft
cyclamen floating above a breezy background of sheer musk
Review: A fresh
air, salty ocean water scent that smells like a lot of other similar scents out
there. It's a nice scent, not overly sweet, and smells a bit like a fresh,
maybe slightly cologney, body wash.
Throw: Fair,
around a 2.5 out of 5
Fresh Cotton Blossom
Notes: Fresh sparkling aldehydes, lemon water, and
cool ozone with fresh laundry accord and muguet (lily of the valley). Driftwood
and blue musk add a comforting finish.
Review: Standard
laundry scent, more of a fabric softener scent rather than a harsh detergent
scent, and not overly sweet.
Throw: Very good,
around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5
Fresh Lavender Garden
Notes: The sweet, sparkling aroma of Lavender de
Provence, jasmine flowers, and rose petals
Review: On cold
sniff, I smell a slightly sweet lavender with a hint of herbs in the
background. The herbs make it slightly medicinal, but the sweetness tempers
that herbal note. Melted, it smells like lavender scented cleaner, but in a
good way. It's a fresh clean lavender rather than a sweet powdery lavender. Looking
at the scent notes, there are no herbs. The jasmine and rose add the sweetness,
although I don't smell jasmine and rose per se.
Throw: Excellent,
around a 4 out of 5
Grandma's Apple Basket
Notes: The crisp and clean scent of freshly sliced
Granny Smith apples...this deliciously tart, yet slightly sweet aroma is simply
irresistible.
Review: A crisp
juicy apple scent with a little sweet caramel, and on cold sniff I detect a
smidgeon of wood I think, which I don't smell when melted. Looking at the scent
notes, it's not wood I smell, it's the tartness in the scent notes. On cold
sniff I don't detect any tartness, but I think I do slightly when melted.
Throw: Excellent,
3.5 to 4 out of 5
Honeysuckle Blossom
Notes: Sweet honeysuckle and a touch of lemon
blending effortlessly with a bouquet of orange blossom, yellow freesia, muguet
(lily of the valley) and gardenia, sweet musk.
Review: This is
not an authentic honeysuckle scent, but more like a sweet honeysuckle perfume,
in a good way. It's a fantastic scent. I also detect an orange blossom/neroli
note, which is one of my favorite scents, and maybe a smidgeon of honey,
although honey is not in the scent notes.
Throw: Excellent,
4 out of 5, and the scent lasted all day
Honeysuckle Vine
Notes: A sweet floral note that resembles jasmine
with a hint of citrus and honey
Review: This is
the same as their Honeysuckle Blossom scent, even though they have different
notes. I think the Honeysuckle Blossom notes are the correct ones, since I do
detect a little bit of orange blossom and gardenia, and just a barely detectable
smidgeon of lemon. Although I do detect a smidgeon of honey in both scents, and
honey is not listed as a note in the Honeysuckle Blossom scent.
Throw: Excellent,
4 out of 5, and the scent lasted all day
Juicy Apple Pomegranate
Notes: Granny Smith apples, pear, jasmine, rich
woods, and a touch of green herbs
Review: Fresh
apple with a sweet rich berry note. No spices. Very nice scent. Looking at the
notes, I guess the berry I think I smell is actually the pear. Interestingly,
there's no pomegranate note! I don't smell wood at all.
Throw: Throw was
very good, around a 3.5 out of 5.
Juicy Apricot Jam
Notes: A true-fruit rendition of juicy apricot
embellished with sweet mango nectar and just a hint of creamy coconut
Review: This is a
sour but authentic peach scent, more like the fuzzy outside of the peach than
the inside. It's a little sweet, but not as sweet as I would have expected
based on the name. I didn't think I would like this based on cold sniff, but I
really like it. Although it doesn't smell like jam as it's not sweet enough. I
don't smell coconut at all.
Throw: Excellent,
3.5 or 4 out of 5.
Juicy Pear
Notes: Juicy ripe Anjou pear, tart green apple,
white blossom and musk.
Review: This is
not what I was expecting. Sometimes pear scents are too bland, or smell too
much like apple, or have a bakery or cinnamon note. This smells fantastic, a
super sweet pear scent. It actually smells a bit like sweet banana. There are no
bakery or spicy notes, which is good. It smells like there might be a smidgeon
of floral in the background. Ah, the notes include white blossom and musk, so
combined with the pear that's probably why I'm smelling a really sweet almost
candy-like banana.
Throw: Excellent,
around a 3.5 or 4 out of 5
Key Lime Pie
Notes: Lime, bergamot, and melon balanced by green
notes, geranium, violet leaf and tagette (marigold)
Review: This is a
fake lemony lime scent, but not in a bad way. I don't smell any bakery notes,
so it doesn't smell like pie, and it's not as sweet as I'd expect from a pie
scent. It's almost a salty lime scent, maybe more like a margarita, but still
not sweet enough. I like this scent. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell
melon.
Throw: Very good,
around a 3.5 out of 5
Lilac Breeze Trio
Lilac Breeze (lavender
color)
This is the same scent as Lilac Petals and Soft Lilac Petals
that I reviewed above. The package has the Lilac Breeze wax first, behind the
scent name Periwinkle Pansy, which is incorrect.
Periwinkle Pansy
A very nice soft warm soapy floral scent, like an expensive
floral scented soap. It has a bit of a
honeysuckle note. Throw was not great, 2.5 or possibly 3 out of 5, but would do
well in a small room.
Violet Petals (middle
wax)
This is one of the best floral scents I've ever smelled. If
it were available in a single pack, I would hoard it! It smells a little like
green grass with a smidgeon of gardenia, not really violet. It's bright and not
overly sweet and doesn't smell like perfume. It's also a scent monster that
took over the whole house, 5 out of 5 throw, and the scent lasted all day!
Lilac Petals
Notes: Fresh picked lilac with pear-splashed medley
of boxwood, violet, precious woods, and berry-infused musk.
Review: A very
nice sweet lilac perfume scent. It's not really an authentic lilac scent; in
fact, it's a rather standard lilac scent among wax melts and candles. I really
like it though. This is the same as the "Soft Lilac Petals" scent,
even though the scent notes are very slightly different; this one supposedly
has pear and boxwood, where the other scent doesn't, but I don't smell pear or
boxwood (boxwood would give it a green, herbal note).
Throw: Excellent,
3.5 or 4 out of 5.
Luxurious Velvet Woods
Notes: Fresh greens, blooming tobacco, patchouli,
fir needle, cedar, bay leaves, and citrus splashed florals
Review: I smell
sandalwood with perhaps a barely detectable hint of smokiness. It's not really
sweet. There's also a richness like maybe amber, but not a sweet amber, maybe
tobacco. Melted, it has a little bit of a waxy note, and also a smidgeon of a
foodie quality. Looking at the scent notes, there's the tobacco. I don't smell
fir, but now that I know it's there I think I detect it way in the background.
Throw: Quite good,
around a 3 or maybe a 3.5 out of 5
Night Orchid
Notes: Juicy dark berries, orange, creamy
frangipani, dewy honeysuckle, orris, oud and vanilla musk
Review: A very
sweet but warm cologne type scent that also has a hint of a laundry note. It's
similar to Black Sands but not as much of a warm amber note, and it has that
slight laundry note that Black Sands does not. Looking at the scent notes, I don't
smell any berries, although they could be way in the background. And I don't
smell orange at all. And some of the notes, I just don't know what they are so
I had to look them up. Frangipani is a flower that smells a little like rose
and gardenia, orris is iris flower root, and oud is a sweet woodsy scent.
Throw: Throw was
good, around a 3 out of 5.
Oriental Garden
Notes: Imagine a Japanese garden - clean and floral
with herbal notes to round it out
Review: I don't
care for this. It smells like basil with a floral note. It's a combination of
sour and sweet that I don't think work well together. It smells a little better
melted, a very "natural" scent, but I still don't care for it. The
scent notes don't say much except floral and herbal, which is accurate. Out of
all the scents I'm reviewing today, this is one of the only two I really
dislike.
Throw: Very good,
around a 3.5 out of 5
Passion Flower
Notes: Gardenia and mimosa blend with orange flower,
tuberose, lush violet, and exotic woods
Review: A sweet
yet bitter fake floral scent. There's nothing about this scent that smells like
an authentic flower, as it has a chemical note. I thought when melted it might
smell a little better, like a fresh floral, but it was quite bitter and smelled
a little like bug spray. I didn't like this one. Looking at the scent notes,
everything in there is sweet and rich, so I'm not sure where the bitterness is
coming from. Out of all the scents I'm reviewing today, this is one of the only
two I really dislike.
Throw: Good,
around a 3 out of 5
Peony Fields
Notes: Rose, cyclamen, white musk and tender woods
Review: A bright
floral that smells a lot like rose. It's a fake floral, like a floral room
spray, not authentic, but that's not a bad thing as it's a great scent. It's
not overly sweet and has a smidgeon of bitterness to make it smell a little
more authentic. It's not a perfumey scent at all. Looking at the scent notes,
there's the rose. And cyclamen is a scent that smells a little like geranium,
which is kind of a slightly bitter floral scent. I just realized this is the same scent as their Carmine Rose scent.
Throw: Very good,
around a 3.5 out of 5
Sandalwood & Jasmine
Notes: West Indian lime, cedarwood, jasmine,
eucalyptus, orange flower, patchouli leaf oil and sandalwood
Review: On cold
sniff, I smell the sandalwood first, but there's also a slight floral note in
the background. It's kind of sweet and has a little bit of a men's cologne
note. Melted, it's more woodsy (but not smoky), with a slight sweetness, and
doesn't have as much of that cologne note. It's a different scent than Cedar
Box and Luxurious Velvet Woods (which are also woodsy scents with a slight
sweetness). Looking at the notes, I don't smell lime or eucalyptus at all.
Throw: Very good,
around a 3 or 3.5 out of 5
Soft Lilac Petals
Notes: Fresh-picked lilac blended with violet,
precious woods, and berry-infused musk
Review: I think
this is the same as the new "Lilac Petals" scent, even though the
scent notes are very slightly different. But this one and has very slightly
better throw, even though this is the older scent and Lilac Petals is brand
new. However, the difference is very subtle, and might simply be due to other
variables such as a slightly lower temperature in my room today than yesterday.
Throw: Excellent,
4 out of 5.
Sparkling Pink Prosecco
Notes: Citrus, muguet (lily of the valley), apricot
and passionfruit complement the sweetness of sugared currants
Review: Prosecco
is an Italian white wine, similar to champagne. This smells like orange soda
but not overly citrusy, as there's something else in there, maybe a smidgeon of
floral. Looking at the scent notes, the floral is the muguet (lily of the
valley).
Throw: Not good,
maybe a 2 out of 5
Sugared Pineapple
Notes: Sugared pineapple, banana, coconut milk,
clove, and tonka bean (vanilla)
Review: On cold
sniff, it smells like very sweet pineapple scent with maybe a hint of vanilla.
This is not a bakery scent. There may be a hint of coconut, which makes this
smell like a really sweet Pina Colada. When melted though, it's not really a
tropical drink scent, but more of a fake sweet pineapple scent that still
smells pretty good if you like pineapple scents (I don't care for pineapple
scents). Looking at the scent notes, they're spot on! This is the same scent as
their Timberwick Hawaiian Delight scent.
Throw: Good,
around a 3 out of 5
Sweet Strawberry Preserves
Notes: Strawberries, sweet red raspberries, and
white sugar
Review: Super
sweet rich strawberry scent that really does smell like strawberry jam.
Fantastic scent! There may be another fruit in there, maybe blackberry, that
makes this scent so rich. Looking at the scent notes, the other fruit is
raspberry.
Throw: Good,
around a 3 out of 5, but I really wish it were stronger as a scent like this is
meant to be very strong!
Watermelon Sorbet
Notes: The refreshing mouth-watering scent of a
juicy summer watermelon
Review: I'm not a
big fan of watermelon scents, but I like this one because it's a very sweet
candy-like watermelon that almost has a slight strawberry note. Very summery!
The scent notes say just watermelon, but there's definitely sugar in there too.
This is a different scent from their Jolly Rancher Watermelon, which is a very
fake watermelon candy scent (although still a nice scent if you like candy
scents).
Throw: Very good
to excellent, around a 3.5 or maybe 4 out of 5
White Gardenia Blossom
Notes: Gardenia, rose bud and white jasmine with
traces of wood, powdered musk and a hint of sweet vanilla
Review: This is a
heavenly, old-fashioned floral perfume scent, kind of like White Shoulders
perfume.
Throw: Excellent,
4 out of 5.
White Peach Nectar
Notes: Cinnamon, nutmeg, apricot puree, molasses,
pumpkin, peach, nectarine, vanilla, sugar, clove
Review: Based on
the name, I expected this to be a very sweet scent, but it's not. It's actually
quite sour, with just a little bit of sweetness. On cold sniff I do smell
peach, along with a very slight bready note in the background, even though this
is not a bakery scent. The picture of peach blossoms on the front tells me that
there should be a floral note, but I don't smell that. It's very similar to Juicy
Apricot Jam. Smelling them side by side, now I can actually detect a slight
floral note in this one which for some reason I thought was a bready note but
it's not. Melted, I just smell a nice sour peach, no floral or bready notes.
Looking at the notes, I don't smell cinnamon, nutmeg, or clove at all, or any
type of fall spice type notes.
Throw: Scent
monster, took over entire house, 5 out of 5 throw
Wild Berry
Notes: Juicy blackberries and sweet cranberries
dusted with confectioners sugar
Review: A fantastic
rich sweet buttery blueberry scent with sweet buttercream and marshmallow and
cotton candy notes. Looking at the notes, there are no blueberries. I don't
smell cranberries at all (which would be slightly bitter), I really smell
blueberries, and the wax is light blue! This scent and the Banana Nut Bread are
my favorite scents out of all of these! UPDATE: I just realized after posting this review, that this is the same scent as their Wild Berry Cobbler scent.
Throw: Very good,
around a 3.5 out of 5
Wild Cherry Blossom
Notes: Cherry blossom notes drift through Asian
lotus and delicate rose, dew covered lily, and lustrous greens
Review: All I
smell on cold sniff is old waxy soap. Melted, it smells a bit better, still
like old waxy soap, but it's actually kind of a nice old-fashioned scent, like
Grandma's bathroom! It's not very sweet, and it doesn't smell like cherry
blossom at all.
Throw: I expected
throw to be poor based on cold sniff, but surprisingly it was very good, around
a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.
Wild Honeysuckle Trio
Wild Honeysuckle (light yellow color)
This is the same scent as the Honeysuckle Blossom and the
Honeysuckle Vine scents.
Hydrangea Blooms
(white color)
This wax is where the Sparkling Orange Blossom wax should be
in the package by mistake. This is a combination of a creamy tropical fruit
scent and a floral scent, with maybe a smidgeon of vanilla and maybe also a
barely detectable trace of coconut. It's a lovely scent, even though it doesn't
smell like a hydrangea flower. Throw is very good, 3 to 3.5 out of 5.
Sparkling Orange Blossom (orange wax)
This wax is where the Hydrangea Blooms wax should be in the
package by mistake. Although I definitely smell orange blossom in this one, I
think the Wild Honeysuckle scent has a stronger orange blossom note. This is a
very nice sweet floral and orange blossom (neroli) scent with a light wood note
(like an agar or oud wood) and maybe some Oriental spices. It also smells a
little like Coppertone suntan lotion. It's a fantastic, unusual scent. Throw is
very good to excellent, around a 3.5 or maybe 4 out of 5, and the scent lasted
all day.
