Candy Cane Crush

A perfect candy cane scent, strong nasal clearing peppermint with a sweet slightly creamy vanilla note. This is/was also available in the Oak & Rye brand for Kroger stores.

Throw: Mild, 2.5 out of 5

Cran Apple Cider

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/cran-apple-cider-fragrance-wax-cubes/1044748401

Notes: Fresh apples and ripe cranberries

This scent has been around for years, and it might be my #1 favorite scent ever. I have about a dozen clamshells of this scent. It's the same scent as the discontinued ScentSationals Apple Berry Crumble from 2015-2016. It's a super sweet rich apple with a berry note (strawberry rhubarb perhaps) and a smidgen of tangy cranberry, and possibly a hint of molasses and even a barely detectable smidgen of cloves. Fantastic rich, sweet, succulent scent! This is not a fall apple scent; it's too sweet, rich and warm. I also reviewed this scent in October 2015 at https://www.scentedwaxmeltreviews.com/2015/10/ambiescents-winter-holiday-christmas-scents.html.

Throw: Bold, 5 out of 5

Pine Wreath

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/pine-wreath-seasonal-wax-fragrance-cubes/1042930730

This scent came out in October 2015 and has come back every year. It's pine with eucalyptus and maybe something a tiny bit savory like rosemary. But it also has a little bit of sweetness that I think is vanilla. I also reviewed this scent in October 2015 at https://www.scentedwaxmeltreviews.com/2015/10/ambiescents-winter-holiday-christmas-scents.html.

Throw: Strong, 4 out of 5

Rustic Woodland

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/ambiescents-rustic-woodland-scented-wax-cubes-pack-of-6/1062207249

Notes: A winter blend of aromatic wild green bay leaf, spicy cinnamon and clove over a tobacco leaf and ebony wood undertone

This is the only brand new scent. On cold sniff this smells like Ginger Ale! It's a soft powdery cinnamon with a hint of what seems to be sweet lime. There might be a smidgen of tobacco in the background. But when melted, that lime note disappears and it smells like cinnamon with a tobacco and woodsy note, although I still detect a smidgen of that Ginger Ale note. It's nice and different.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 or 4 out of 5

Santa's Sugar Cookies

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/santa-39-s-sugar-cookies-fragrance-wax-cubes/1042076629

A rich, warm, sweet vanilla that smells like buttercream rather than cookies. It's not an authentic scent, but that's okay because it smells great. This scent has been around for years. In the past, it had a strong throw, but this one was only medium.

Throw: Medium, 3 out of 5

Snowball Donut Holes

This scent came out in October 2016 and again in October 2017. It smells just like a donut! It's got that sweet doughy scent with a cinnamon note. It's not the same scent as ScentSationals Cider House Donuts though, since I don't smell any apple in this one. This was on sale for $.89, so I suspect it's from last year's inventory.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Sugar Pine

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/sugar-pine-fragrance-wax-cubes/1040707204

A strong biting pine scent that might have a smidgen of citrus in the background that gives it a tiny bit of a Pine Sol note. This one has been around for many years, at least since 2013 or 2014, and is sometimes also available in the ScentSationals brand at other stores.

Throw: Bold, 5 out of 5

Watch video below:

I bought these a few days ago at Joann Fabric. Tuscany throw is often hit or miss for me, but never to this extreme where half the scents have no throw. Someone in the Facebook group mentioned that he found these scents at a different store (Menard's I believe), but the labels are different. So I'm wondering if the ones I got are old, maybe from last year, and have been in storage for a year. Tuscany wax doesn't have a great shelf life, so if these melts are from last year, that would explain the poor throw on a lot of them. These were $3.59 but with a 30% off coupon they came to $2.51 each.

I only bought 6 of the 12 scents, because the others were either generic scents, or very similar to what I already have.

The video shows all 12 scents at the store, and a text review is below, along with a grade for the throw (on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best).

BOUGHT:

Christmas Cranberry
A super tart cranberry scent, not very sweet. Actually it smells more like tart grape or wine. Yep, when melted, it's red wine. So this must be a scent that was used before under a different scent name. It's not a bad scent, but not as authentic as the Sonoma brand "Wine Tasting" scent.
Throw: 3

Fruit Garland
Smells fantastic on cold sniff, although light and I can't figure out the notes. It smells like a vanilla cookie with maybe a hint of anise and just a smidgeon of bayberry, and a sweet smoky note almost like tobacco, and maybe a smidgeon of clove. Unfortunately, throw was almost non-existent.
Throw: 1

Peppermint
Smells like a candycane, nice sweet mint, but not overly pepperminty
Throw: 3.5

By the Chimney
This smells like sweet cedar scented soap with perhaps a hint of barely detectable leather. It's not smoky, which is what you'd expect from a chimney scent. On cold sniff it has a faint Fels Naptha industrial soap note, which I hope doesn't come out when it's melted. It's a really different kind of scent, and I like it. When melted, I didn't have to worry about the Fels Naptha scent coming out, because I could barely smell anything.
Throw: 1.5

First Frost
This smells like amber and baby powder with a hint of sweet tobacco. Nothing frosty about it, and no mint. I suspect this is a scent they've used before but with a different name. I love the scent though! Unfortunately barely any throw.
Throw: 1.5

Sugar Plums
This smells a little like raspberry linzer cookies. I smell tart fruit and vanilla cookie. The fruit is so tart it almost has a very slight creamy lemony note. This fantastic scent is not salty or buttery, and not even very sweet.
Throw: 3.5

DID NOT BUY:

Evergreen & Balsam
Smells almost exactly like Frosted Spruce, a typical Christmas tree scent, but without the eucalyptus that's in Frosted Spruce.

Frosted Spruce
Smoky spruce pine scent with maybe a slight hint of eucalyptus. Very similar to Evergreen & Balsam, but with the eucalyptus note.

Shortbread
This is their Lemon Sugar Cookie scent, and other sweet lemon fragrances that they come out with from time to time. There are no lemons on the label of this Shortbread scent, so I'm not sure why they decided to go with lemon. It's a very nice sweet bakery lemon scent, nonetheless, but certainly not a shortbread scent unless it's lemon shortbread.

Gingerbread House
Typical fall spice scent with cinnamon and maybe a hint of nutmeg.

Christmas Spice
Cinnamon

Baked Apple Pie
A slightly caramel apple scent with maybe a hint of spice. Not really an apple pie scent, but nice anyway.
