Video

This year Yankee Candle only put out 5 new scents in their Walmart wax melt Spring 2019 collection. For the past few years, the new Spring line consisted of 20 to 24 new scents!

Blush Bouquet

Notes: Top: Cherry Blossoms; Mid: Peony, Sweet Pea, Lily; Bottom: Amber

This is a very sweet floral scent with a perfumey note. I think it's cherry blossoms with maybe a smidgen of baby powder, but there's also some other floral note in there like maybe jasmine and/or rose, and a tiny bit of amber like warmth. It's a little bit like a Pink Sugar scent but without the fruit, very sweet and girly. I really like it!
Someone in our Facebook group said "On cold sniff, there’s a light floral fragrance, mixed with just a bit of light perfume. It’s too floral for me to say 'clean', but it leans that way. When melted, it’s true to its cold scent. Lightly floral—spring flowers mixed with a light rose. There is a bit of perfume, but it’s not musky. The throw is pretty good but not too strong 3.5-4 out of 5. It’s lasting a long time, too. I definitely catch the peonies, but I think the mixture takes it away from authentic peony scent, moving it more to a light pink rose. It also mentions amber, which must be the mild perfume scent."

Throw: Medium, 3.25 out of 5

Floral Candy

Notes: Traces of pear blossom, sparkling rose water, sugared rose petals, lily, Ylang Ylang, powdery musk & marshmallow

I thought based on the scent name that this would be Pink Sugar scent, but it's completely different. Pink Sugar is a super sweet raspberry based girly perfume scent. This is also not a cotton candy scent, as that is more fruity, with raspberry and lemon notes, and no floral or perfumey notes. This scent is more of a candy scent with a floral note. It's perfumey, but not as sweet and rich as Pink Sugar can be. It has a vanilla marshmallowy note, and only a slight fruity note (strawberry or apple, maybe?). Although the throw is bold and I can smell it throughout the house, it's not an overly strong scent, so it's not overwhelming. Getting a strong throw from this type of scent is unusual!

Throw: Bold, 5 out of 5

Seaside Woods

Notes: Top: Orange Blossoms, Cool Citrus; Mid: Sweet Alyssum, Acacia; Bottom: Cottonwood, Driftwood

Fantastic scent that smells like a light beach wood, musk, a sweet floral like sweet pea, and a little bit of sweet tobacco and maybe a smidgen of patchouli. It's a very unique scent and I love it. Looking at the notes, there's the beach wood (driftwood) and sweet floral (acacia and alyssum), but no tobacco, and I don't smell any citrus notes. If I had to classify it, I'd say it's kind of an incensey scent, but it's also a little bit perfumey.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Turquoise Glass

Notes: Top: Iced Watermelon, Peach Tea; Mid: Sea Breeze, Tiara Flower, Freesia; Bottom: Musk, White Cedarwood

A fresh, watery, slightly sweet scent with a smidgen of floral and fruit (watermelon? apple?), but it's definitely a fresh scent rather than a floral or fruity scent, and it's not perfumey at all, nor does it have the salty note that some oceany scents tend to have. It has a tiny bit of a soapy note that makes it smell a little like shower gel, but although it's sweet, it's not quite sweet enough for shower gel. It may also have a smidgen of coconut. I have a lot of scents that are similar to this one, but I still like it.
Someone in our Facebook group said, "There is a soapy or perfume undertone, but the scent in the foreground is much like clean spring or ocean water. It doesn’t quite have the salty quality of salt water, and it’s not quite as mineral based as spring water, but there’s definitely a water tone. I’d say this is a clean smell. I don’t know how they capture the scent of a color, but if turquoise had a scent, this would be it. I think there is also something sweet floating around in there. I would still qualify this as a 'clean scent', but it’s completely different from any linen, laundry, or soap scent."

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

White Strawberry Bellini

Notes: Top: Pineapple, Orange; Mid: Mango, Peach Nectar, Chilled Champagne; Bottom: Sugar

This might be one of the best fruity scents I've ever smelled! I smell strawberry, raspberry, pineapple, and maybe a hint of guava or mango. It's a super syrupy sweet candy like fruity scent with a hint of tartness. Someone in our Facebook group said it's a "really sweet strawberry/champagne fragrance." Strangely, there's no strawberry in the scent notes.

Throw: Bold, 5 out of 5

Yankee Candle Wax Melts Reviews from Walmart - Winter/Holiday 2018

Yankee Candle Wax Melts Reviews from Walmart - Winter/Holiday 2018

Yankee Candle Wax Melts from Walmart - Winter/Holiday 2018

It appears that there are only three new Yankee Candle Winter/Holiday 2018 scents at Walmart. A couple of wintery scents came out with the fall scents which I reviewed at https://www.scentedwaxmeltreviews.com/2018/08/yankee-candle-wax-melts-reviews-fall-2018-walmart.html.

Frosty Gingerbread

Description: Gingerbread freshly frosted—a holiday delight that fills any room with welcome and warmth

An intense, rich gingerbread scent that smells like warm ginger snap cookies fresh out of the oven. There's nothing "frosty" about it though, as there aren't any minty notes at all. This scent seems to have a lot of scented oil in it, as there's a bit on the surface, and if you get it on your nose or lip it burns, like real ginger oil or cinnamon oil. It's better and stronger than any other ginger type scent I've smelled. Throw is strong, but I expected it to be a bold scent monster that would take over the entire house.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 to 4 out of 5.

Poached Pear Flambe

Description: Juicy pear, fresh peeled and ready to delight in a bath of caramel colored brandy.

Notes:
Top: Pear Nectar, Crystalized Sugar
Mid: Honey, Caramel
Base: Whipped Vanilla, Fruity Musk

This smells just like pears, plus a bit of a sweet milky vanilla note and a hint of caramel. It has a smidgen of a perfumey note, but it's not overly sweet. Fantastic scent.

Throw: Mild, 3 out of 5

Icy Blue Spruce

Description: A fresh breath of winter forest—juniper berries, blue spruce, spearmint leaves.

I didn't buy this one because I wasn't crazy about the scent. It's a pine scent with a musty note that gave it a little bit of a Play-Doh vibe.

Apple Pumpkin

Description: Cultivated with care... home-grown apples and pumpkins blended with ginger and clove.

Notes:
Top: Apple, Yellow Fruits, Orange, Fresh Greens, Butter
Mid: Baked Pumpkin, Red Fruit, Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg, Fresh Ginger
Base: Vanilla, Caramelized Sugar, Baked Pie Crust, Cream, Musk

This is the same scent as the Yankee Candle Home Inspiration scent called Pumpkin Apple Harvest from Fall 2017. It's almost the same scent as Better Homes & Gardens Farm Apple Pumpkin, and Mainstays Apple Pumpkin. Even the wax is a similar color. But this scent is very slightly richer and sweeter though (more like the old ScentSationals Apple Berry Crumble). It's a strong sweet apple scent, like the inside of an apple pie. I smell some spice like nutmeg and perhaps a touch of cinnamon, and that's what gives this a smidgen of a pumpkin pie note (although it's not a pumpkiny scent at all). Fantastic scent! But the Better Homes & Gardens version is a scent monster with a throw of 5 out of 5, and it costs $2.00 instead of $3.93 for the Yankee scent. And the Mainstays Apple Pumpkin scent is $.93 (but for 1.25 oz.) and is also a scent monster. So if you like this scent then go for the Better Homes & Gardens or Mainstays version because they're cheaper, easier to find, and have better throw.

Throw: Medium, 3.5 out of 5

Autumn Wreath

Description: There's a cheerful fall welcome in the spicy warmth of autumn leaves and cinnamon apples.

Notes:
Top: Green Leaf, Apple
Mid: Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg
Base: Woody Notes, Vanilla

This is a sour apple scent, like old apples that have fallen on the ground and mixed with brown leaves. But not really in a bad way. It's a nice fall scent, but also very common. This type of scent is found in a lot of fall melt collections.

Throw: Medium, 3.5 out of 5

Balsam & Cedar

Description: Balsam, aromatic cedar wood and juniper berry blend together in a fresh forest scent.

Notes:
Top: Crisp Citrus, Herbs, Red Berry
Mid: Pine Balsam, Cedar, Sandalwood
Base: Vanilla, Warm Amber, Musk

A pine scent with a slightly smoky spruce note and a woodsy note. When melted, it also has a slightly sour "dirt" note that I don't like (maybe it's the "herbs" in the scent notes?). Looking at the notes, I don't smell any of them at all except the pine balsam, and maybe the herbs (the sourness?)

Throw: Strong, 3.5 to 4 out of 5

Cranberry Chutney

Description: A delicious reminder of Thanksgiving dinner... tangy, fresh cranberries with orange zest and raisins.

Notes:
Top: Ripened Raspberry, Strawberry Leaf
Mid: Cranberry, Black Cherry
Base: Iris, Orange Flower

I don't think this is the same scent as the Yankee American Home and Yankee Home Inspiration Delicious Cranberry scent from the past few years. That scent was a crisp clear sweet tart cranberry with nothing added, and it smelled like plain sweet cranberry juice with just a smidgen of bitter cranberry (the description was: "Sweet and wonderful, natural cranberry is blended with vanilla and sugar cane"). This scent smells like a combination of raspberry and cranberry. I really like it. Looking at the notes, there's the raspberry. I don't smell any floral notes, but now that I know there are floral notes, I guess I detect maybe a smidgen that might be making the raspberry note smell even sweeter.

Throw: Medium, 3.5 out of 5

Crisp Fall Night

Description: The autumn evening invites with brisk earthiness and dreamy interludes of lavender and woodland notes.

Notes:
Top: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Black Peppercorn
Mid: Lavender, Maple Leaf
Base: Vetiver, Oak

A very nice woodsy scent with a smoky note and a hint of men's cologne. It's only very slightly sweet. I think this is the same scent as the Yankee Candle Home Inspiration scent from 2017 called Cool Autumn Nights, which I described as follows: "A subtle men's cologne scent with a light wood note. It's not overly sweet or cologney, so even if you don't like cologne scents you might like this one." Looking at the notes, I don't smell grapefruit at all. Bergamot and vetiver are notes that are typically used in cologne scents. And I think I detect a smidgen of pepper and lavender.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Enchanted Moon

Description: A still, clear, moonlit night made magical with hints of juniper, peony and teak.

Notes: Juniper, Peony and Teak

A powdery perfumey scent that smells a little like a bubble bath. I also smell a light woodsy note, which tempers the perfumey note so it's not too sweet. And maybe a smidgen of baby powder. Looking at the notes, I don't smell juniper, which would give it a soft subtle pine note, which this definitely does not have. I really like this scent!

Throw: Strong, 4 out of 5

Honeycrisp Apple Cider

Description: A scent that revives and relaxes — fresh Honeycrisp cider warming up a glass.

Notes:
Top: Honeycrisp Apple
Mid: Apple Cider, Honey
Base: Musk

The most realistic apple scent I've ever smelled. It doesn't smell like apple cider to me, but more like a fresh apple orchard. It's not overly sweet either, just "authentic". Looking at the notes, I don't smell honey or musk, although there might be a smidgen of a caramel note which could be the honey. On cold sniff there's a slight sour old apple note (which is probably supposed to be the cider), but I don't smell that when melted. I like it!

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Kitchen Spice

Description: This modern blend of sweet orange, clove, ginger and cinnamon is a new take on pantry favorites.

Notes:
Top: Spicy Cardamom, Sweet Orange, Clove
Mid: Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Ginger
Base: Almond, Musk

I smell ginger first, then some other spices like a hint of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. Looking at the notes, I'm surprised I don't see ginger, but maybe it's the cardamom I'm smelling (cardamom supposedly smells a little like fennel, which is a licoricey scent, but this doesn't smell like licorice at all). I don't smell orange either, although this does smell a little bit like orange pomander, so I guess I do smell orange. I don't smell almond or musk at all.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Luscious Pumpkin Trifle

Description: A mouthwatering temptation of vanilla cake, cinnamon, sweet cream and pumpkin

This showed up at my Walmart in October 2018, not in August with all the other fall scents. It's a much better, sweeter version of pumpkin pie, with a sweet yellow vanilla cake note, maybe a hint of nut, and for some reason I smell a smidgen of banana. Looking at the notes, nope, no nuts or banana. Melted, it smells like a rich vanilla buttercream mixed with pumpkin pie spices. It's quite nice!

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Pumpkin Pie

Description: Sweet pumpkin, nutmeg, molasses, cinnamon, and a hint of apple in a buttery crust.

Notes:
Top: Creamy Pumpkin, Citrus
Mid: Harvest Spices of Clove and Cinnamon
Base: Baked Crusty, Butter

It's a pumpkin pie scent. What else can I say? It's a little more buttery than other pumpkin pie scents I've smelled. It's a nice scent.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Silver Birch

Description: Autumn is in the air... the slight crispness of an early fall breeze mingles with the spicy dryness of just-turning leaves.

Notes:
Top: Watery Notes, Ozone, Siberian Pine
Mid: Clove, Eucalyptus, Cypress
Base: Pine, Patchouli

A lot of people love this scent, and with good reason. It smells great! It's a rich woodsy, slightly smoky spruce scent. It's not a biting pine type scent. It has a smidgen of a fresh air note as well. Looking at the notes, I don't smell clove or patchouli at all, but those notes might be contributing to the "richness" of this scent. The scent only lasted about 2 hours.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Sparkling Cinnamon

Description: Holiday glow... the spicy warmth of real imported stick cinnamon with a hint of cloves.

Notes:
Top: Cinnamon Stick
Mid: Clove, Cardamom
Base: Bay Leaf, Cedarwood

A straight sweet cinnamon scent with a strong clove note. It's not really a harsh "Big Red" gum scent though. It's not the same scent as the 2017 Yankee Home Inspiration Sparkling Cinnamon Spice scent, as that one had a slight fizzy note, like cinnamon soda, and this one does not.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Spiced Pumpkin

Description: Pumpkins baked in simmering spices of clove, nutmeg and cinnamon, and sweetened with brown sugar.

Notes:
Top: Citrus, Orange, Nutmeg, Spiced Pumpkin
Mid: Cinnamon, Clove
Base: Vanilla, Baked Notes

A yummy sweet clove scent with cinnamon, a very slight pumpkin spice/nutmeg note, and maybe a smidgen of buttercream for richness. I've smelled it before, and I like it. Looking at the notes, I don't smell citrus or orange at all.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 out of 5

Sugared Cinnamon Apple

Description: Scrumptious cinnamon apple with a taste of whipped vanilla frosting.

Notes:
Top: Apple Slices
Mid: Cinnamon Cider, Sugar
Base: Fresh Vanilla, Nutmeg, Crushed Clove

This smells fantastic. It's similar to the Apple Pumpkin scent, but that scent is a little more salty. It's a rich super sweet apple scent with a hint of cinnamon and maybe a barely detectable smidgen of nutmeg and clove. I thought based on my description that it was the same scent as Yankee Home Inspiration Pumpkin Berry Parfait from 2017, but it's a different scent; that one was saltier and with a hint of butter and bakery. This scent is more like the gooey insides of an apple pie, but with a hint of a buttercream note.

Throw: Medium, 3 to 3.5 out of 5

Warm Luxe Cashmere

Description: The sensuous feel of a soft cashmere in a scent that's both creamy and luxurious.

Notes:
Top: Rich Vanilla Cream
Mid: Winter Iris, Velvet Petals, Warm Cashmere
Base: Amber Silk, Creamy Sandalwood, Patchouli

A warm soft cashmere scent with vanilla. It has a bit of a perfume note but it's not overly sweet, although it's quite rich. Looking at the notes, yes I think I do detect a smidgen of sandalwood, which gives this a very slight milky wood note way in the background. I don't really smell patchouli. Fantastic scent!

Throw: Mild, 2.5 out of 5

Video

Yankee Candle Home Inspiration didn't put out many winter/holiday scents this year. Fresh Balsam Fir came out with the fall scents in September. I think the holiday scents were in very limited supply, as the few that I saw on the Walmart shelves disappeared quickly and were not replaced.

Holiday Apple Wreath

Notes: A welcoming holiday mix of apple, cinnamon stick and fresh clove woven with vanilla

I smell cloves with sweet apple and a little bit of cinnamon. A typical nice warm winter scent. I've heard this is the same as the regular Yankee scent "Red Apple Wreath", although the scent notes on their website are different.

Throw: Very faint, 1 to 2 out of 5

Merry Cherry

Notes: A spirited concoction of juicy cherries and spicy cinnamon to ring in the holidays

This scent has returned from 2015. It's a sweet maraschino cherry syrup scent with a very slight perfumey note, not overpowering or harsh or black cherry. I don't smell any cinnamon at all. This is a summer type scent rather than a winter scent. It's a fun, happy scent! Throw was medium, 3.5 out of 5, when I reviewed this in the older rectangular package in December 2015. Throw is a bit stronger now that this is in the newer oval package with "more fragrance" shown on the label.

Throw: Strong, 3.5 to 4 out of 5

Sparkling Bright Christmas

Notes: ?

This smells like lemon verbena with that clean soapy note. It has a slight spa lemon quality. There's something else in there, maybe lime, but also a tiny bit of a sour note (but not bad). I thought I detected a smidgen of pine, but I don't think so. This is a unique scent, and I like it. It's not really a winter scent though. I've heard this is the same as the regular Yankee scent "All is Bright" (scent notes: a blend of sparkling citrus scents drifting on warm musk).

Throw: Bold, 5 out of 5, a scent monster that took over the house

Spiced Orange & Clove

Notes: Whole orange pierced with rich and earthy clove

This is a typical orange pomander scent, kind of like cloves plus a note of orange, a bit more savory than sweet, but there's also a waxy note in there. I'm not a fan of orange pomander in general, so I don't like this one. I also reviewed this scent in September 2016 (but I didn't buy it then).

Throw: Strong, 3.5 to 4 out of 5

Glad Tidings

This was available at some Walmart stores, but I couldn't find it. However, it's available in the UK. I don't know if it's the same scent, but the description from the Yankee UK website is "Bright and happy as a mantle hung with Christmas stockings waiting to be found, full of warm amber and edged with sweet citrus."
